Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: MY LITTLE BO (5) settled four back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the half mile marker and sustained a strong run to win at Shepparton last outing. This race is of similar standard and she should prove hard to beat again. ALWAYS DANCING (6) is resuming since May but he finished second at a Hamilton trial last week and he showed promise during his last campaign with two wins and a third in a slick mile rate of 1.55.9 in just three attempts. NEEDY AN GREEDY (1) was beaten by a large margin at his debut but he was impressive in winning a trial at Shepparton last week, where he dashed along the sprint lane over the concluding stages. He is ideally drawn and is worth an investment. WICKED MITZI (3) and MOMENTUM SHIFT (4) are both racing well enough to be considered as winning hopes in a small but quality field to commence the program.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 4

SELECTIONS: MY LITTLE BO (5), ALWAYS DANCING (6), NEEDY AN GREEDY (1), WICKED MITZI (3)

RATINGS: 5,6/ 1/ 3,4/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: MY LITTLE BO (5) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: KYRGIOS (4) came from last and finished off swiftly when an eye-catching fourth behind On A Night at Shepparton last week. He strikes a suitable assignment now and should prove hard to beat. ABRAHAM (7) is backing up quickly from his effort at Cranbourne on Sunday but he should be competitive against this line up. He finished off well for third behind Japanese Miki at Shepparton on August 13. HELLO SWEETHEART (3) worked to the front and set up a slow tempo when she appeared to have her chance and finished third at Shepparton. She has been placed in six of her past seven starts however so she should be competitive again. PEPPERCORN BARRY (1) races best when he is close to the pace so he is a definite place chance from the pole position.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: KYRGIOS (4), ABRAHAM (7), HELLO SWEETHEART (3), PEPPERCORN BARRY (1)

RATINGS: 4,7/ 3/ 1/ 6/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: KYRGIOS (4) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: SNAZOLA (2) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and finished second behind the in-form pacer Angel Of Anger three starts ago so she must be considered as a winning chance. STELLAR QUEEN (1) is a fast beginner and is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern. She was runner up at Shepparton three starts ago and won from behind the leader at Ballarat in May. SPECULATOR (6) is backing up quickly from his effort at Cranbourne on Sunday but he has been racing very consistently against similar opposition so he warrants consideration. TIGER OF OLD (3), KIMCHI (4) and SWISS LIGHTNING (5) all have claims in an open betting event.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,5

SELECTIONS: SNAZOLA (2), STELLA QUEEN (1), SPECULATOR (6), SWISS LIGHTNING (5)

RATINGS: 1,2/ 6/ 5/ 3,4/ 7/ 8

SUGGESTED BET: SNAZOLA (2) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SASSINESS (8) is awkwardly drawn but appears to be extremely well graded in this event. She finished second behind the smart filly Tilly Jayne in a strong race at Melton two starts ago and recorded successive victories at Shepparton in July. MAJOR ANNIE (7) led out then took cover and was held up badly for a run when an unlucky fourth at Kilmore last week. She is widely drawn but has the speed to be in the finish. RUBY WINGATE (1) is a fast beginner and went to line jogging with no clear run when an unlucky eighth at Ballarat last week. She moves to the front line now and is worth another chance. TERROR EYES (9) had little luck from a poor draw at Charlton last outing and recorded a handy mile rate of 1.56.4 when he scored on that track three starts ago. He should be finishing off strongly from the trailing draw.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,3,4,5,6,7

SELECTIONS: SASSINESS (8), MAJOR ANNIE (7), RUBY WINGATE (1), TERROR EYES (9)

RATINGS: 8/ 1,7/ 9/ 3,4

SUGGESTED BET: SASSINESS (8) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: EMILY VINCENT (11) was placed seven times in succession prior to a fifth behind Platinum Jive at Melton, where she ran home strongly from last. She is racing in great form and should prove hard to beat again. BLUE CANNON (3) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and ran a better race despite finishing eighth at Charlton last week. He should gain a trail just off the pace and he rates as a value chance. REGAL ROCK (4) was left stranded on the outside of the leader throughout when eighth in a strong field at Bendigo last week. He is a good chance of finding his favourite position of being the pacemaker here so he is worth an investment. FOURTH IN LINE (6), MISTER JIMARINGLE (7) and DEUCE COUPE (8) are all worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2,7

SELECTIONS: EMILY VINCENT (11), BLUE CANNON (3), REGAL ROCK (4), MISTER JIMARINGLE (7)

RATINGS: 11/ 3/ 4,7/ 6,8/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: EMILY VINCENT (11) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: It is an open race for the trotters with many winning chances. NIGHT WHISPERER (4) was placed behind the handy trotter All The Trix at Stawell three starts ago and was held up for a run at a vital stage at his latest fourth behind Suga Daddy so he gets the nod. LUVSKI (11) will take plenty of beating if he delivers a fool proof display but he has broken stride in most of his appearances to date. He finished fourth behind Keayang Gucci in a much stronger race at Terang last outing. ALFIE ALWAYS (7) began brilliantly from the handicap of 20m to land a handy position when fourth at Charlton and a similar beginning could see him finding his favourite front running role here, despite his handicap of 10m. DEEJAY DEX (13) faces a tough handicap of 30m at his first up run since June but he was a runaway winner last time out so he cannot be underestimated.

EARLY SPEED: 7 (10m) (possible leader), 1,4

SELECTIONS: NIGHT WHISPERER (4), LUVSKI (11), ALFIE ALWAYS (7), DEEJAY DEX (13)

RATINGS: 4,11/ 7/ 5,13/ 6/ 12

SUGGESTED BET: NIGHT WHISPERER (4) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: ALDEBARAN ACRUX (9) has been racing at Metropolitan level so this is a massive drop back in class. She finished off strongly when an eye-catching second behind Dichotomy at Melton last outing and led throughout when she defeated FOUROUTOFFIVE (5) on July 11. FOUROUTOFFIVE (5) appears to be the main danger again. He raced on the outside of the leader, appeared to be in danger of defeat but fought very hard in the straight to defeat Jilliby Ballerini at Hamilton last week. MIDNIGHT EAGLE (4) is stepping up in class for this assignment but he possesses early pace and recorded a handy mile rate of 1.58.4 at his latest success so he is not without a chance. KINGS GUARD (6) hasn’t raced since September but he has finished fourth in two recent Shepparton trial performances and has the ability to show up if he is somewhere near his peak form.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,2,5

SELECTIONS: ALDEBARAN ACRUX (9), FOUROUTOFFIVE (5), MIDNIGHT EAGLE (4), KINGS GUARD (6)

RATINGS: 9/ 5/ 4,6/ 1,2

SUGGESTED BET: ALDEBARAN ACRUX (9) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: PETE MITCHELL (4) is shooting for four straight victories and is a good chance of completing the task. He pushed forward to race without cover and was a strong winner at Melton on Friday night. FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (5) continues to race in great form and will run her usual honest race. She raced without cover throughout to win at Bendigo three starts ago and tried hard when second behind the in-form mare Kyloan Queen last week. REDBANK MOLLY (9) finished off well from midfield when third behind Markleigh Caz last outing. She should gain an economical run from the trailing draw and is worth a ticket each way. FOREGONE CONCLUSION (3) is a fast beginner and led throughout to score at Cranbourne two starts ago. He had no luck from a wide draw at Mildura on Friday and is worth another chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 4,5,6

SELECTIONS: PETE MITCHELL (4), FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (5), REDBANK MOLLY (9), FOREGONE CONCLUSION (3)

RATINGS: 4/ 5/ 3,9/ 1,8

SUGGESTED BET: PETE MITCHELL (4) to win
