Bendigo, Wednesday 28 August

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: STORMS COLLIDE (1) was runner up in the Nutrien Final in April and missed out narrowly at his first up performance behind Seathestars in a slick mile rate of 1.53.8. He is ideally drawn and should prove hard to beat. FORTY LOVE (5) won the Sapling Stakes earlier in the season and is returning from the Queensland Winter Carnival, where he finished tenth in the Protostar at his latest performance. He is a classy colt and cannot be underestimated. GO MIKI (7) is resuming since an effortless debut victory at Bendigo in June, where he dashed home in a slick final quarter of 27.9 seconds. He obviously has ability and must be respected despite the wide draw. SET UP (6) is a New South Wales trained pacer, which remains undefeated in two attempts at Penrith. He is meeting a stronger field here but he has the early speed to obtain a prominent position in the early stages.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 5,6,7

SELECTIONS: STORMS COLLIDE (1), FORTY LOVE (5), GO MIKI (7), SET UP (6)

RATINGS: 1/ 5,7/ 6/ 9/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: STORMS COLLIDE (1) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: LET HER ROLL (3) has the best draw out of the major chances so she is a strong chance of maintaining her unbeaten record. She won the Southern Stars and the Sapling Stakes during her last preparation and she has been performing very well at the trials. MISS AUSTRALIANA (8) also remains undefeated with her two starts in April yielding victories in a heat and the Final of the Nutrien series. She was very impressive at her latest victory and her trial form has also been strong so she should prove hard to beat but being drawn on the inside of the second row is a concern. IVESEENHEAVENSLIGHT (10) ran second in the Nutrien Final and is also resuming since that event back in April. She is a speedy filly and should be competitive again. SOHO AMERICANO (9) was resuming since the Bathurst Gold Crown Carnival in March when she dashed home in a sizzling final quarter of 26.8 seconds to win impressively at Bendigo. She is meeting a strong field but appears to have a promising future.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 4

SELECTIONS: LET HER ROLL (3), MISS AUSTRALIANA (8), IVESEENHEAVENSLIGHT (10), SOHO AMERICANO (9)

RATINGS: 3/ 8/ 9,10/ 6,11

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: ALWAYS HOT (3) is resuming since a victory in a mile rate of 1.53.2 at Shepparton in June but she was able to win a trial at Melton in handy time last week so she must be respected. ARSENIO (2) is a nicely bred first starter for trainer Emma Stewart, which has been performing very well at the trials and should run a big race from his good draw. TECHY CREED (6) and I AM THE STORM (7) are both resuming after debut victories and have performed well enough at the trials to suggest they should be competitive again. NO LUCK (9) is a New South Wales trained pacer, which won easily in fast time at Bathurst last week and must be kept safe.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2,6,7

SELECTIONS: ALWAYS HOT (3), ARSENIO (2), TECHY CREED (6), I AM THE STORM (7)

RATINGS: 3/ 2,6/ 7,9/ 5

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SURFE LA MER (5) was resuming since June when she worked forward to find the lead and won softly in a mile rate of 1.57.3 at Terang. She recorded a mile rate of 1.55.9 at Hamilton when on her debut and she should give another forward showing. BRIGHTON (10) is a first starter for trainer Emma Stewart, which has been performing nicely at the trials and is likely to be strongly fancied. MISS ARI (6) won several trials prior to her first up fourth at Cranbourne, where she made ground from a long way back. She is a speedy filly and rates as a value hope. WICKED HANGOVER (1) continues to improve with the benefit of racing and has claims along with EVILEYE (2), which was held up for a run at a vital stage when fourth at Bendigo last week.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 1,2

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: SEATHESTARS (3) has been impressive at his three starts to date and possesses a powerful finishing burst. He finished off best to score in a slick mile rate of 1.53.8 at Melton last outing so he must be considered as a winning chance again. CAPTAIN MOORE (7) defeated SEATHESTARS (3) by a narrow margin at his latest victory and he was very impressive at his latest Melton trial success. He is a promising colt and must be considered as a winning chance again. HESITATE (8) is the class runner of the field but is awkwardly drawn on the second line. He was very unlucky when second in the Paleface Adios Classic in Brisbane then finished unplaced in the Protostar at his latest attempt. THE LAST TRIP (2) worked hard to lead and set up a hectic tempo when a brave third at Melton last outing. He possesses early speed and should give another forward showing.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4,7

SELECTIONS: SEATHESTARS (3), CAPTAIN MOORE (7), HESITATE (8), THE LAST TRIP (2)

RATINGS: 3/ 7,8/ 2/ 11

SUGGESTED BET: SEATHESTARS (3) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: MISS DISTURBIA (1) won the Kindergarten Stakes Final in South Australia then was taken to New South Wales when third in the Pink Bonnet. She was runner up in fast time at a Melton trial effort last week and she should take beating from the pole position. TENACIOUSLY (3) worked forward to find the lead and recorded a slick mile rate of 1.54.5 when she won at her debut. She is a nicely bred filly and should prove hard to beat again. ALIFETIMEFORLIVING (7) has been placed at her two starts to date and missed out narrowly behind Soho Americano at Bendigo last outing. She is widely drawn but is capable of filling a place again. FORESIGHT (11) is a former New South Wales trained pacer, which impressively won a trial at Bendigo last week and is worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: MISS DISTURBIA (1), TENACIOUSLY (3), ALIFETIMEFORLIVING (7), FORESIGHT (11)

RATINGS: 1,3/ 7/ 2,5,11

SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 1,3/ 1,3/ 2,5,7,11 (Cost $8)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: FOX DAN (9) is resuming since winning the Bathurst Gold Crown in March and is clearly the class runner of the field. He finished second behind Soho The Real Deal at a Melton trial effort last week. ROCKIN BULL (7) led throughout to win on debut then trailed the leader and tried hard when second behind All Blazing Guns at Cranbourne. He is widely drawn but his fast early speed should be able to get him into a prominent position early. SOHO EMPIRE STATE (10) was able to beat older horses at Terang last outing and should be finding the line strongly despite the wide draw. SCHERGER THAT (4) is resuming since an impressive win at Bendigo in May. He has had a win and a handy finishing fourth in two recent trial performances so he must be respected.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,5,7

SELECTIONS: FOX DAN (9), ROCKIN BULL (7), SOHO EMPIRE STATE (10), SCHERGER THAT (4)

RATINGS: 9/ 7,10/ 4/ 1,6

SUGGESTED BET: FOX DAN (9) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: THE HIGHLIGHT REEL (6) returns from his hit and run mission to Brisbane for the Protostar, where he set up a brilliant tempo and was beaten on the line in 1.50.6! He won the Nutrien Final prior and he looks to be an outstanding prospect. ITS CONFIDENTIAL (9) was resuming since a sixth in the Nutrien Final in April when he scored by a large margin in fast time at Wagga. He has won four of his five starts to date and should be competitive again. SOHO THE REAL DEAL (8) finished fourth in the Bathurst Gold Crown Final earlier in the season and is shooting for a winning hat trick. He finished off in a slick final quarter to run down Crocodile Socks at his latest victory. SILVER PISTOL (5) was a runaway winner over Soho Empire State (won since) at his debut and looms as one of the leading chances again.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 2,3,4,5

SELECTIONS: THE HIGHLIGHT REEL (6), ITS CONFIDENTIAL (9), SOHO THE REAL DEAL (8), SILVER PISTOL (5)

RATINGS: 6/ 5,8,9/ 3/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: THE HIGHLIGHT REEL (6) to win

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: SALSKI (6) has been placed in five of her past six starts and should be very competitive again. She found the front from the standing stand and was run down in the final stride at Terang last outing. EVERYBODYLUVSKENNY (5) is a fast beginner and appears to be the likely leader. He found the front and finished third behind the in-form trotter He’s The Mightyspin at Ballarat last outing. SUGA DADDY (7) is racing in career best form having won four out of his past five starts. He worked to the front and won comfortably at Cranbourne last outing. CHRISTMAS BABE (2) is a fast beginner and attempted to lead throughout when a close second at Bendigo last week. This race is harder but she is drawn to receive every chance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely early leader), 5,7

SELECTIONS: SALSKI (6), EVERYBODYLUVSKENNY (5), SUGA DADDY (7), CHRISTMAS BABE (2)

RATINGS: 5,6/ 7/ 2,3/ 4,9,10

SUGGESTED BET: SALSKI (6) each way

Race 10:

OVERVIEW: JESSICAS STORY (1) didn’t have much luck when caught behind tiring horses at Bendigo last week and is worth another chance. She attempted to lead throughout when a close second behind Charlie Walker last outing. ASTRO (6) was beaten by a long way at his latest attempt but he finished second behind Atego Dawn (won again since) when he was resuming so he is worth another chance. BELLMAC BAMBI (2) and MYRTLE VALE (3) both perform best when they are able to gain a trail close to the speed so they are drawn to suit their racing pattern. KALARNEY PRINCE (5) won against similar opposition at Shepparton two starts ago so he cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3,7

SELECTIONS: JESSICAS STORY (1), ASTRO (6), MYRTLE VALE (3), KALARNEY PRINCE (5)

RATINGS: 1/ 3,6/ 2,5/ 7/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: JESSICSAS STORY (1) each way

Race 11:

OVERVIEW: TETRA (1) is drawn to receive every chance and has been placed ten times for the season so she deserves to break through for a win. COL DU GRANON (5) was beaten by a long way after enduring a tough run last week but he performs best when he is able to lead and he was placed at Bendigo prior so he is worth another chance. VELVETNLACE (4) performed well at a Bendigo trial recently and was able to finish off nicely for third at big odds last week. She is a value chance in a race of many chances. BROTHER JOSEPH (11) will go well if he can deliver a fool proof display and WHATS THE TEA (8) and LUNA (9) are both worth thought from their trailing draw.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 1,3,7

SELECTIONS: TETRA (1), COL DU GRANON (5), VELVETNLACE (4), BROTHER JOSEPH (11)

RATINGS: 1/ 5/ 4,8,11/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: TETRA (1) each way
