Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: TALLARAS SHADOW (11) possesses a powerful finishing burst and finished off best to win at Melton in a mile rate of 1.54.9 two starts ago. She is poorly drawn but will be hard to hold out in the run to the finish. BETA THAN LOVE (10) is resuming since a sixth at Mildura in April and he hasn’t been to the trials but he appears to be very well graded in this event. HIGH FLUX (8) also looks to be well placed against this class and should be competitive despite being drawn on the inside of the second line. ROYAL STARZZZ (4) led out then took cover when a close second behind Credulous at Shepparton. She has claims along with LETSGO BIG GIRL (3) and RIMU VALLEY (5).

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: PET KITTY (8) has been in amazing form having won nine races for the season including her past five starts in succession. She performs best when she is able to lead so the draw is a concern but she is clearly the horse to beat on her recent form. FEEL THE REIGN (1) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off well when sixth at Shepparton when resuming. He is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern so he appears to be a good value chance. HONEST HARRIETTE (7) was working home solidly when third behind PET KITTY (8) at her latest attempt. She is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is worth a ticket each way. OUT OF EDEN (5) and the fast beginner JILLIBY TIDALWAVE (6) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

OVERVIEW: AVANT GUARD (9) struck trouble and lost his chance ($2-70fav) at Cranbourne last outing. His overall form is strong so he is worth another chance. CABIN CREW (8) has returned from a spell in fine form with two wins and a second from his four attempts. He chased hard when second behind Majestic Ga Ga at his latest attempt and is worth thought again. ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD (4) began quickly to find the lead and battled on fairly well for third at Kilmore last outing. He should be prominent throughout along with another fast beginner in LOTS OF CHANGE (5). Race 4:

OVERVIEW: TREACHEROUSTIMES (3) endured a tough run on the outside of the leader and went down fighting when a close second behind Kyloan Queen (won again since) last outing. He has been placed at his past nine starts and should be highly competitive again. LETHAL LOVER (9) tried to sustain a long run when a creditable third behind Letsgo Big Girl at Shepparton last week. She has been placed at her past three attempts and is nearing a win against this class. NAI HARN BAY (1) continues to race in good form and broke through for a deserved victory when he moved up without cover and recorded a slick mile rate of 1.55.3 on August 16. He is a winning chance again from the pole position. MAJOR SUSPECT (2) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and should go well from his good draw.

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: TERROROAN (10) finished off nicely and was beaten by a narrow margin against similar opposition last week. He led throughout at Mildura three starts ago and is worth thought again. PLAYNICE (4) has been able to lead at his past three attempts and is a good chance of finding the lead again. He has a tendency to race fiercely so the step up in distance is a concern but he should be competitive against this line up. PINNACLE HOPE (3) attempted to lead throughout when second behind Very Tempting last week. He might end up being behind the leader under these conditions and is capable of going one better. NOBLE JULIA (7) has the speed to be in the finish and TEX GOES BANG (8) continues to race consistently against this class.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,2

OVERVIEW: BRONSKI MOMENT (1) has been placed at his past four attempts and deserves to break through for a win. He gained a nice trail and only missed out by a narrow margin behind Shezabluechip last outing. WHERES WOOD WOOD (9) worked hard in the early stages before gaining a trail mid-race when fifth behind Pete Mitchell at Shepparton last outing. She is racing better than her form reads and rates as a value hope. JOEYS HANGOVER (3) was shuffled back on the markers and worked home well for third behind Luverboy last week. He possesses early speed and should be prominent throughout from his good draw. OVERVIEW: MYNAMEISRUBY (9) is a speedy mare, which has won two of her past four starts against similar opposition. She ran home best from a rearward position to defeat Stellar Queen last outing and will take holding out again. BLUE OCEAN (7) raced out three horses wide for the entire trip when a big fourth at Shepparton two starts ago then scored comfortably last outing. He can be very one paced so the barrier draw is a concern but he is racing too well to dismiss. HANOVER JACK (10) finished off quickly for fourth at his first run since December and should be fitter from that outing. He is usually competitive against this class and is worth a ticket each way. OUR MYSTERY BET (1) appeared to have his chance last week but he is perfectly drawn and is capable of a better performance under these conditions.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: MYNAMEISRUBY (9), BLUE OCEAN (7), HANOVER JACK (10), OUR MYSTERY BET (1)

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: FIELD OF POPPIES (9) hasn’t raced for a year but her trial performances have been sound with the latest being a fast finishing fifth so a bold showing is expected first up. ROYLE BLOOD (2) worked early before gaining a trail and battled on well for second behind On A Night last week. She was a winning chance before breaking stride with 100m remaining when seventh prior so she is racing well enough to feature prominently. NOOSA BOY (4) appeared to have his chance from behind the leader at Charlton last week but he ran a game race for second behind Deebraxton prior so he is worth another chance. TALKNPLAY (3) is resuming since June but he finished quickly from last when fourth at a Bendigo trial effort on Monday so he rates as a value hope.

EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely early leader), 2,4

SELECTIONS: FIELD OF POPPIES (9), ROYLE BLOOD (2), NOOSA BOY (4), TALKNPLAY (3)

She gained a nice trail and finished second behind Majestic Charma at Bendigo last time out. ZINGARA LASS (4) finished fast when an eye-catching fourth at a Shepparton trial performance then endured a tough run at Bendigo on Wednesday night. She is a maiden from fifteen starts but is capable of showing improvement.
