Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: SETTEBELLO (8) was shuffled back on the markers, became blocked for a run at a vital stage and finished off fast when an unlucky second in the Kyabram Cup. He is awkwardly drawn again but will prove hard to beat. LAYDEN (10) has been racing in great form at Metropolitan level and is ready to break through for a win. He was very wide from the 300m when a game third behind Rockandance last outing. TOORAM CEE CEE (7) worked hard to lead when third in fast time at Bendigo last outing. He has a tough draw to overcome but is capable of being competitive with the right luck in running. MAJOR BERT (2), PLAINS IN HEAVEN (3) and RAINBOWSEND (5) all have claims in a good race to commence the program.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3,6,7

SELECTIONS: SETTEBELLO (8), LAYDEN (10), TOORAM CEE CEE (7), PLAINS IN HEAVEN (3)

RATINGS: 8,10/ 7/ 3,5/ 2/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: SETTEBELLO (8) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW:  TOOBY GOLD (5) commenced from the outside of the second row and produced a top performance when second behind Favouritehighlight at Bendigo last week. She is racing in great form and is much better drawn so she must be respected. TREACHEROUSTIMES (4) began quickly to find the lead, ran along at a genuine tempo and was too good at the finish when he scored in a mile rate of 1.56.0 last outing. He has been placed in nine of his past ten starts (4 wins) so he is racing in outstanding form and should prove hard to beat again. LORIMERMAJOR (10) appears to be extremely well placed against this class and should improve on his numerical form. LAVADA GOLD (9) has been placed at his past five attempts and overcame difficulties to win at Cranbourne on Sunday. He possesses a strong finishing burst and warrants respect.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3,4,5

SELECTIONS: TOOBY GOLD (5), TREACHEROUSTIMES (4), LORIMERMAJOR (10), LAVADA GOLD (9)

RATINGS: 5/ 4,10/ 9/ 2,3,8

SUGGESTED BET: TOOBY GOLD (5) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: HONEST HARRIETTE (5) has been placed in three of her past four starts and finished off well for third behind the in-form mare Pet Kitty at Shepparton last week so she should prove hard to beat against this line up. SHE REALLY MATTERS (7) competed in a stronger race last week and battled on well into fourth behind Top Gun Ted. She is widely drawn but should be competitive under these conditions. PRECIOUS BELLE (1) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern. She made ground from last when fifth behind Odin last week. LADY IN LINE (4) and LEAVE YOUR HAT ON (6) are both worth thought on an each way basis.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 6,7

SELECTIONS: HONEST HARRIETTE (5), SHE REALLY MATTERS (7), PRECIOUS BELLE (1), LEAVE YOU HAT ON (6)

RATINGS: 5/ 7/ 1,4,6/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: HONEST HARRIETTE (5) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: FEARLESS WRITER (10) is racing in great form having been placed in all of her six starts to date and will prove very hard to beat. She worked hard to find the lead and missed out narrowly when second behind Hernie in a slick mile rate of 1.56.4 at Horsham last outing. SOPHIES SCOOTER (9) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and is capable of improving on her numerical form. She was a winner at Albury in February. CHOGI (8) has won six races for the season and got a long way back from a poor barrier draw when a handy fifth at Mildura last outing. She is a speedy mare and is not without a chance. LITTLEBLABBAMOUTH (4) is a fast beginner and will go close if he is able to find the lead.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 2,3,7

SELECTIONS: FEARLESS WRITER (10), SOPHIES SCOOTER (9), CHOGI (8), LITTLEBLABBAMOUTH (4)

RATINGS: 10/ 8,9/ 4/ 2,3/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: FEARLESS WRITER (10) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: GENERAL LINCOLN (2) was driven aggressively in the front running role and recorded a career best mile rate of 1.55.0 when he scored at Melton two starts ago. He got a long way back from a poor draw at his latest sixth and is worth another chance. ANGELSHAVTIME (7) settled midfield and finished well for second at her first run for trainer Kate Hargreaves. She performed well at the trials prior and is worth thought again. FIRST CLASS (8) finished off fast when an eye-catching second behind Elusive two starts ago and is not without a chance. SHALLOW BEACH (1) has been placed after trailing the leader at his past two attempts and is a minor place hope again from the pole position.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: GENERAL LINCOLN (2), ANGELSHAVTIME (7), FIRST CLASS (8), SHALLOW BEACH (1)

RATINGS: 2/ 7,8/ 1/ 6/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: GENERAL LINCOLN (2) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (4) is a tough campaigner, which raced without cover for the majority of the trip and scored over Tooby Gold at Bendigo last week. She has won six races for the season and is a strong winning chance again. PETE MITCHELL (2) pushed forward to find the lead and was able to fend off his rivals late when he scored at Shepparton last week. He is drawn to find the lead again and should prove hard to beat. JOEYS HANGOVER (1) is likely to end up being behind the leader and finished off best to score from a nice trail at Ballarat last outing so he is worth an investment. TOPHUT JOHNY (8) should receive an economical trip and is usually competitive against this class so he cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,3,4

SELECTIONS: FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (4), PETE MITCHELL (2), JOEYS HANGOVER (1), TOPHUT JOHNY (8)

RATINGS: 2,4/ 1,8/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: Boxed Trifecta 1,2,4,8 (Cost $24)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: KYVALLEY PAINT (7) stormed home to score at Shepparton two starts ago then followed with a second behind Bacardi Spirit, where he also made ground at the end. This race is no harder and he looms as one of the leading chances again. DOSSIER (11) came from a long way back and had to weave a passage through the pack when a fast finishing second behind Manda Kyvalley last outing. She produced a career best performance last time so she must be rated highly. HES THEMIGHTYSPIN (9) began quickly to lead then took cover when a runaway winner at Ballarat last week. He is drawn behind a very slow beginner but he was impressive last time out. ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD (4) is the class runner of the field and will take beating if he is able to put it altogether from his good draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: KYVALLEY PAINT (7), DOSSIER (11), HES THE MIGHTYSPIN (9), ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD (4)

RATINGS: 7/ 9,11/ 4/ 5/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: KYVALLEY PAINT (7) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: NOTHING SWEETER (5) has been placed at her past four starts against similar opposition and deserves to break through for a win. She commenced from the inside of the second line, settled midfield on the markers and finished off boldly for second behind the in-form pacer Pet Kitty last outing. MARKLEIGH CAZ (8) uncharacteristically missed away and lost her chance last outing. She finished off quickly when second behind Tooby Gold prior and is worth another chance. FINAL BOW (2) came from last when she scored at Maryborough two starts ago and she usually performs best in the leading role so she should prove hard to beat from her good draw. JAY BEE (4) possesses early speed and is a minor place chance under these conditions.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: NOTHING SWEETER (5), MARKLEIGH CAZ (8), FINAL BOW (2), JAY BEE (4)

RATINGS: 5/ 2,8/ 4/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: NOTHING SWEETER (5) each way

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: GUNSEN ROSIE (5) is resuming since a sixth at Melton in May but she was in good form at the end of her last preparation and will take beating if she is somewhere near her peak form. TETRA (3) is racing consistently against similar opposition and should be competitive again. She trailed the leader and finished third behind Atego Dawn at Cranbourne on Sunday. BELLMAC BAMBI (4) possesses early speed and also boasts a consistent record against this grade so he warrants consideration. LUNA (6) and WHATS THE TEA (7) both have claims in an open betting event.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 2,3,5

SELECTIONS: GUNSEN ROSIE (5), TETRA (3), BELLMAC BAMBI (4), WHATS THE TEA (7)

RATINGS: 5/ 3,4/ 6,7/ Field

SUGGESTED BET: GUNSEN ROSIE (5) to win

Race 10:

OVERVIEW: GLENS OF TEKOA (1) has been unplaced at his past five attempts but he led throughout and dominated his rivals when he scored at Bendigo on May 28 so he must be considered as a winning chance from the pole position. OFFICE BAD BOY (5) is a former Queensland pacer, which joins local trainer Corey Bell. He was runner up at Redcliffe two starts ago and strikes a suitable field first up. FRIENDS (8) began quickly to find the lead and was run down over the latter stages when third as favourite last week. He has the perfect trailing draw behind GLENS OF TEKOA (1) so he must be given a winning chance. RIVER PATROL (3) and VERY TEMPTING (4) both have claims from their good draw on the front line.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: GLENS OF TEKOA (1), OFFICE BAD BOY (5), FRIENDS (8), VERY TEMPTING (4)

RATINGS: 1/ 5,8/ 3,4/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: GLENS OF TEKOA (1) to win
