Mildura, Friday 26 July

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: JILPANGER ROSE (1) finished second behind a handy type in Coniston on debut and is capable of going one better from the pole position. SPIRIT OF SAHARA (4) is a nicely bred first starter for trainer Shane Sanderson, which has performed well enough at the trials to warrant consideration. He finished third behind Mad Punta in reasonable time at his latest trial performance. DIAMOND KRUSHER (7) finished off quickly for third two starts ago then ran another reasonable race for fifth behind Coniston last week. She possesses ability and is a definite place chance. TO THE NINES (2) ran a game second behind Coniston three starts ago and has claims along with PERFECT PEACH (3).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,6

SELECTIONS: JILPANGER ROSE (1), SPIRIT OF SAHARA (4), DIAMOND KRUSHER (7), PERFECT PEACH (3)

RATINGS: 1,4/ 3,7/ 2/ 5,6

SUGGESTED BET: JILPANGER ROSE (1) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: SPORTS CHARM (6) is resuming since a runaway victory at Mildura in December. She is a talented filly and will prove hard to beat despite the wide draw. ROLLING BONUS (5) copped plenty of pressure in the leading role and battled on strongly to win at Mildura two starts ago. He missed out at Port Pirie last outing but is worth another chance. FOXY TWO GLOVES (7) was runner behind ROLLING BONUS (5) two starts ago then followed with an unlucky fifth behind American Boxer. She is awkwardly drawn but is not without a chance. CAPTAINS GOLD (1) is working into some form and was placed from the same barrier draw last week so he is worth thought again. YOUNG GUN LOU (4) won nicely at his latest trial performance and must be kept safe.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: SPORTS CHARM (6), ROLLING BONUS (5), FOXY TWO GLOVES (7), CAPTAINS GOLD (1)

RATINGS: 6/ 5,7/ 1,4/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: SPORTS CHARM (6) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: SUNSHINE WARRIOR (10) finished fourth behind Chogi in a stronger race at Mildura last week and is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward so he gets the nod in an open betting race. BELLA ABBY (9) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and should give a bold showing. She recorded a mile rate of 1.57.9 when she won at Swan Hill in March. CHEERS POVERTY (5) is a fast beginner and races best when he is in front so he is worth thought under these conditions. SUGOI ALTO (1) and EGBERT (2) are both capable of figuring in the finish from their good draw on the front line.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,5

SELECTIONS: SUNSHINE WARRIOR (10), BELLA ABBY (9), CHEERS POVERTY (5), SUGOI ALTO (1)

RATINGS: 9,10/ 5/ 1,2/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: SUNSHINE WARRIOR (10) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SPRING DELIGHT (8) hasn’t won in twenty starts for the season but he has dropped back into a workable grade and he ran a much better race when second behind Sunfine at his last attempt so he is worth an investment. GOJOE (10) had little luck when fourth in the same race last week and has also dropped into a suitable grade so he warrants respect. CHEDALAYO (4) is a fast beginner and will appreciate her best draw for some time so she should improve on her numerical form. TWO TOES BENNY (2), BETTER BLUE BOYS (7) and OZZIE DAYBREAK (9) are all capable of showing up in another very evenly balanced field.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 2

SELECTIONS: SPRING DELIGHT (8), GOJOE (10), CHEDALAYO (4), OZZIE DAYBREAK (9)

RATINGS: 8/ 4,10/ 9/ 2,7

SUGGESTED BET: SPRING DELIGHT (8) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: TOMMY MACH (4) is a handy South Australian trained pacer, which has been placed in all of his three Mildura starts to date. He finished off well when second behind Santa Casa Lane last outing and is capable of going one better here. BRANSON (5) endured a tough trip and had excuses last outing. He won comfortably at Gawler prior and is worth another chance. MIKIYOURSOFINE (11) missed away and was always in the second half of the field when eighth at Mildura last outing. His form prior was sound so he is worth a ticket each way. BOHEMIAN BRAIDS (8) was successful when competing in a field of similar standard at Mildura two starts ago so he cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: TOMMY MACH (4), BRANSON (5), MIKIYOURSOFINE (11), BOHEMIAN BRAIDS (8)

RATINGS: 4/ 5,11/ 8/ 1,6,7

SUGGESTED BET: TOMMY MACH (4) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: BUDD SIDEWINDER (7) appears to be well placed in this event and he follows behind the fast beginner SIR VINCENT (1) so he should prove hard to beat. MISS BALLYMENA (8) was a winner at Mildura in June and has been placed at her past two attempts against similar opposition so she should run a good race again from the trailing draw. DEEWHY (2) will appreciate his best draw for a long time and is racing better than his form reads so he is capable of showing improvement. SIR VINCENT (1) races best when he is able to lead over the sprint distance so he has the conditions to suit him here.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 4

SELECTIONS: BUDD SIDEWINDER (7), MISS BALLYMENA (8), DEEWHY (2), SIR VINCENT (1)

RATINGS: 7,8/ 2/ 1,4/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: BUDD SIDEWINDER (7) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: BARACK ENOBRAC (1) joins trainer Rocco Villiva and boasts a terrific record at Mildura with two wins and a second from three starts so he should prove hard to beat from the pole position. AVOCA BLUES (10) bounced back into winning form with a big win in a career best mile rate of 1.57.5 last week. He drops back to the second line but this race is probably easier compared to last week so he must be rated highly. MACHSTIQUE (4) is racing consistently and possesses early speed so he should be prominent throughout from the good draw. LILBITAHENRYTEE (7) is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern and rates as a value hope. SHALLOW POCKETS (6) has performed nicely at the trials and must be kept safe.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 4,6

SELECTIONS: BARACK ENOBRAC (1), AVOCA BLUES (10), MACHSTIQUE (4), LILBITAHENRYTEE (7)

RATINGS: 1,10/ 4/ 6,7/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: BARACK ENOBRAC (1) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: CHOGI (3) is stepping up in class but he has been racing in fine form and he is drawn to lead so he is worth thought again. HEART OF COOPER (5) appears to be very well graded in this event and he has been placed in two of his past three starts so he looms as the logical danger. OURBEACHBABE (8) is a speedy mare and was placed behind Terror Eyes in a solid mile rate of 1.56.4 last outing so she warrants consideration. SUNFINE (4) won against easier opposition when making his Mildura debut last week but he is worth thought again along with the strong mare LETSGO MATILDA (10).

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 4

SELECTIONS: CHOGI (3), HEART OF COOPER (5), OURBEACHBABE (8), LETSGO MATILDA (10)

RATINGS: 3,5/ 8,10/ 4/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: HEART OF COOPER (5) each way

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (11) is resuming since a ninth at Mildura in March but he is a strong pacer and will take beating if he is somewhere near his peak form. He won seven races throughout his last preparation so he was racing in sparkling form. SHADOW TERROR (10) is another tough type that should go well in this class. He worked home best to win under similar conditions last week and is capable of making a mid-race move if the pace slackens. POWERSOFPERSUASION (9) continues to build on his consistent record and deserves to break through for a win. WATCH THE ATTITUDE (8) has competed against the open class at her past two attempts and is likely to find this assignment to be easier.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,3,4,5

SELECTIONS: MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (11), SHADOW TERROR (10), POWERSOFPERSUASION (9), WATCH THE ATTITUDE (8)

RATINGS: 11/ 9,10/ 8/ 1,2,5

SUGGESTED BET: MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (11) to win

Race 10:

OVERVIEW: SAHARA TIGER (10) gained a saloon passage along the inside but he was able to finish off fast to beat the Metropolitan open class horses at Melton in a mile rate of 1.51.0 last week so he looms as the horse to beat. HOT DEAL (9) continues a horrid run with the barrier draw but he has done well to race consistently throughout his current campaign. He progressed forward from the outside of the front line to park without cover when a game fourth at Melton last outing. LA CAPTAIN (8) has been impressive at Mildura having remained unbeaten at his two starts to date. This is his toughest test but he looms as one of the leading chances again. TWISTED BLISS (4), DAYLIGHT AT DAWN (6) and ALL DA RAGE (7) are all capable of showing up without surprising in a quality race.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: SAHARA TIGER (10), HOT DEAL (9), LA CAPTAIN (8), TWISTED BLISS (4)

RATINGS: 10/ 8,9/ 4/ 6,7/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: SAHARA TIGER (10) to win

Race 11:

OVERVIEW: HAVELOCK (10) hasn’t had any luck whatsoever at his most recent appearances and gets his chance to improve on his numerical form against this line up. VILLAGE LOVER (9) gained a nice trail and worked into a distant third when resuming. He should be fitter from that run and is worth thought again. AUCKLAND LASS (5) was narrowly beaten after pushing forward to find the lead under similar conditions on June 07 and is worth a ticket each way. STONEBRIDGE STAR (6) and UNETHICAL (8) are both worth thought in a tough race to end the program.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 1

SELECTIONS: HAVELOCK (10), VILLAGE LOVER (9), AUCKLAND LASS (5), STONEBRIDGE STAR (6)

RATINGS: 10/ 5,9/ 6,8/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: HAVELOCK (10) each way
