Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – K&D CLUB PAST PRESIDENTS HAMMOND, TOLERTON, PATRIDGE & CHARLSTON 4YO+ WESTBRED MAIDEN PACE (1730MS)
BATAVIA JANE ( D Harper) – Gave ground from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination no abnormalities. Trainer D Goulden was advised the mare will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 2 – K&D CLUB PAST PRESIDENTS PEARSE, MAY, CARGER & LOTON PACE (2130MS)
HILO LOUISA (D Kerr) – Stewards questioned Driver D Kerr with regards to the tactics used on HILO LOUISA today, particularly the reason for not surrendering the lead in the back straight on the first occasion when challenged by the favourite JOHNNY LOMBO (S Suvaljko). Mr Kerr put forward that from barrier 2 he believed he could lead and HILO LOUISA was a good front runner having won her last race from leading from a similar barrier. Mr Kerr also put forward that in hindsight considering the tempo of the early part of the race he may have taken cover on JOHNNY LOMBO. Mr Kerr was disappointed with the mare’s performance today. Mr Kerr’s comments were noted.
THIRTYTHREE TRICKS (V Stampalia) – Gave ground from roughly the 400m. A warning was placed on his performance.
BRAVO CHRISTIANO (K Harper) – Gave ground from the 400m. A warning was placed on its performance.
RACE 3 – K&D CLUB PAST PRESIDENTS FLEMING, DOY, IBBOTSON & DONCON PACE (2130MS)
MUMMAS LITTLE STAR (T Wheeler) – Out of position at the candy pole despite the drivers urging. Trainer D Goulden was informed that there will be a warning placed on MUMMAS LITTLE STAR.
METEOROID (K Harper) – Gave ground from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
FIRST REUNION (B Postans) – Out of position at the start. A warning was placed on its racing manners. Gave ground from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Will be stood from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 4 – K&D CLUB PAST PRESIDENTS GUNN, COOPER, O'NEILL & STARLING (DIV.2) PACE (1730MS)
BREWERY LANE (K Harper) – Contacted a marker peg entering the front straight to receive the bell.
ROCKIN RUFUS (E Suvaljko) – Driver E Suvaljko reported the offside tyre deflated at approximately at the 400m mark, placing her at some disadvantage.
RACE 5 - K&D CLUB PAST PRESIDENTS NICHOLLS, WHITE, GILES & REID (DIV.1) PACE (1730MS)
THE MERCENARY (V Stampalia) – Driver V Stampalia was questioned in regard to the tactics he employed during the race. Mr Stampalia reported THE MERCENARY pulled hard in the score up and over-raced throughout giving ground over the concluding stages. Mr Stampalia reported he did his best to rate the horse and advised he would be speaking with Trainer B Stokes to make the necessary gear changes to allow the gelding to settle in its races.
RACE 6 – KELLERBERRIN & DISTRICTS CLUB PACE 4YO+ PACE (2130MS)
TEVARICH (K Harper) – Driver K Harper reported the deafeners failed to release.
SHEHADI (L Edwards) – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities apart from a very slight nasal discharge.
RACE 7 – K&D CLUB PRESIDENT PIXIE O'NEILL PACE (2130MS)
RAKERO RAIDER NZ (V Stampalia) – Driver V Stampalia reported the near side murphy blind became detached in the score up and as a result RAKERO RAIDER NZ broke after the start. No action was taken.
KRAKKA LIGHTNING (D Kerr) – Checked after start when RAKERO RAIDER NZ broke gait.
