Stewards Report

Victor Harbor – Sunday 31st March 2024

The sprint lane was in operation at todays event.

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided Stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 –FPAG SERVICES TROTTERS MOBILE – 2160MS

SPEEDYSEBASTIAN (A Chapman) galloped near the 500 metres and a warning was issued.

RACE 2 –  STACKED SIGNS GOOLWA PACE – 2160MS

Reinsperson Ryan Hryhorec (MOOPS) was fined $100 under R162(1)(y) for whilst leading through the first half of the last mile setting a time of 65.4 seconds which is outside the prescribed time of 64 seconds.

RACE 3 – MIDDLETON TAVERN PACE – 1660MS

Reinsperson Kevin Weidenbach (JAKES SPORTWRITER) was fined $100 under R156(2)(a) for using the  whip in more than a flicking motion.

RACE 4 –2024 SKYVALLEY NZ @ ALDEBARAN PARK VICTOR HARBOR TROTTERS CUP – 2160MS

Stewards allowed UNCLE LOUIS (T Pullicino) extra time to arrive on course due to a float breakdown.

ILLAWONG MOONBEAM (K Rogers) was retired from the race in the back straight on the first occasion when it hung in and REGAL ATTIRE (R Hryhorec) contacted and punctured its near side sulky tyre.

CYCLONE S ADAMS (D Girardi) pulled hard throughout the race and in the back straight on the final occasion contacted the rear sulky of SUPER ANGUS (S Pascoe) lost ground and checked BARHOON (L Ryan).  A warning was issued.

Race 5 –STIHL SHOP VICTOR HARBOR PACE – 1660MS

RACE 6  – HERITAGE PIES & PASTRIES GOOLWA PACE – 1660MS

Reinsperson Wayne Hill (HEZA PLAYER) was fined $50 under R162(1)(h) for failing to come into position at the start.

RACE 7  – 2024 MARION BAY SEASIDE APARTMENTS VICTOR HARBOR PACING CUP – 2160MS

Reinsperson Samantha Pascoe (SIR LUCAS) was fined $100 under R162(1)(j) for failing to maintain position at the start.

Reinsperson Paul Cavallaro (ARTILLERY) was cautioned for allowing his drive to shift ground up the track in the run to finish.

Reinsperson Ken Rogers (CULTURE KING) was cautioned for allowing his drive to shift ground up the track in the run to the finish.

A post race veterinary examination of LORD ZARIAS (R Hryhorec) ($1.60 favourite) beaten 43 metres revealed an elevated heart rate and poor post rate recovery. An endoscopic examination revealed mucus present in the air wave indicative of a viral infection.

RACE 8  – FLEURIEU HOME IMPROVEMENTS PACE – 1660MS

ROLL WITH EUNICE (K Rogers) galloped free of interference near the 400 metres severely checking TOLD YOU TWICE (S Pascoe).  A warning was issued.

CHEERSTOLOU (L Ryan) galloped free of interference near the 350 metres and a warning was issued.

RACE 9  – TYREPOWER VICTOR HARBOR PACE – 1660MS

A false start was called when the mobile barrier could not pull away from the field. ROCKING WITH CHARM (D Whelan) was a late scratching on veterinary advice after contacting the barrier arm.

The mobile barrier was tested and found suitable to be used.

GENERAL.

Race 4 GAWLER 24TH March 2024.Stewards today heard evidence from Dean Girardi (CYCLONE S ADAMS), Ken Rogers (ILLAWONG MOONBEAM) and Lisa Ryan (BARHOON) as to the reason CYCLONE S ADAMS raced roughly after the 500 metres. It was established ILLAWONG MOONBEAM which had HURRICANE ED (S Pascoe) giving ground in advance eased off its back and at the same time CYCLONE S ADAMS commenced a run to his outside and BARHOON racing outside.  CYCLONE S ADAMS hung in slightly.

The circumstances were noted.
