The sprint lane was in operation at tonights event.

RACE 1 – GEOFF BROCK MP PACE  – 1609MS

RACE 2 –  GADALETA STEEL FABRICATIONS PACE - 2050MS

RACE 3 – HARBISON PERFORMANCE PACE - 2050MS

CHARMING MAJOR (D Whelan) hung inwards on the home turn final occasion contacting and dislodging a marker peg. A warning was issued.

RACE 4 – 2024 ALDEBARAN PARK PORT PIRIE TROTTERS CUP – 2530SS

A false start was called when the front barrier tape became entangled in front legs of OUR SPITFIRE (N Brown).

No action was taken against OUR SPITFIRE for galloping at the start due to the false start.

The near side sulky tyre on ILLAWONG MOONBEAM (M Smith) deflated in running.

UNCLE LOUIS (G Pullicino) and MY USED TO BE (W Hill) brushed sulky wheels in the final 20 metres when both horses shifted ground marginally.

A post race veterinary examination of GET LUCKY (M Borg) revealed a laceration to the near fore cannon. Treated by veterinary officer and stood down 7 days.

RACE 5 – 2024 BIG CHIEF HIRE COUNTRY GRADUATION SERIES FINAL – 2050MS

The field were turned away from the barrier when the headcheck broke on WINSTON ALEXANDER (T Mumford).

WINSTON ALEXANDER galloped approaching the front straight with a lap to run and sustained a laceration to the off fore pastern. Treated by veterinary officer and stood 7 days.

RACE 6 – 2024 PORT PIRIE REGIONAL COUNCIL PACING CUP – 2530MS

A warning was placed on ROYAL SPEECH (D Smith) which galloped free of interference entering the back straight final occasion.

A post race veterinary examination of SIR LUCAS (S Pascoe) which was eased out of the race near the 400 metres revealed an injury to the near fore pastern. Treated by veterinary officer and stood down until a veterinary clearance is tendered.

CULTURE KING (K Rogers) contacted and dislodged a marker peg on the home turn final occasion when held up for clear running.

HONEYBUN (W Hill) was held up for a clear run final stages.

LORD ZARIAS (R Hryhorec) utilised the sprint lane to win the race.

RACE 7 – VALLEY HORSE TRANSPORT PACE – 1609MS

Approaching the home turn final occasion Bernadette Page (MY ULTIMATE LEVI) momentarily dropped the near side rein.

RACE 8 – DAVID HOPKINS MEMORIAL PACE – 1609MS

After the race Trainer Daniel Tucker reported FUMIA REACTOR (N Brown) had pulled up lame and will be spelled.

RACE 9 – BET MCARTHUR MEMORIAL PACE – 1609MS

Stewards questioned Michael Smith (HUGH GO) as to why he didn’t take a trail on (JOHNBOYAZZA) Gaita Pullicino in the early stages of the race.He stated that in his opinion prior to the race JOHNBOYAZZA wouldn’t be a horse that was an advantage to trail therefore he held the lead. In hindsight he acknowledged that it may have more beneficial to have taken that option. Stewards informed him to always ensure that he takes all reasonable opportunities to ensure his drives are afforded every opportunity. A post-race veterinary examination oh HUGH GO  revealed no abnormalities.

The off fore spreader on Glenlea Belle broke in running.
