SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

PENRITH – THURSDAY, 11 APRIL 2024 – Race 3 - MATES FOR HARNESS PACE

Driver S Arvidsson pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 162(1)(e) for scoring up in the incorrect barrier position with AMERICAN BEAUTY NZ (nine instead of barrier ten). S Arvidsson was fined the sum of $200.  Furthermore, S Arvidsson was fined the sum of $100 under rule 187(1) for failing to adhere to a direction given by the official starter to present herself at the Stewards room for an inquiry.  

 

RACE 1 – ALLIED EXPRESS COURIER SERVICES PACE – 1609 metres

BLAZING HOME NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Passing the 400 metres was inclined to race roughly.  Post-race swab samples were obtained.

MONTALBANO– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.

 

RACE 2 – BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE – 1609 metres

OUR VINNIE– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Leaving the 400 metres driver J Trainor momentarily dropped his left foot when attempting to activate gear.  J Trainor was advised to ensure he has proper control when activating gear in the future.

SIGINAW NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.

PAS GUARANTEE– Driver W Rixon was questioned regarding the performance of PAS GUARANTEE.  W Rixon explained the gelding had competed in two trials leading up to tonight’s event and from a difficult draw connections decided it would be in the best interests of the gelding to drive him further back with cover.  He added that he was hopeful a running line would develop which would afford him an opportunity to improve his position. However when this did not eventuate, he found himself racing further back than anticipated.  W Rixon stated that the fast tempo of the event did not afford any opportunity for any runner to make up any significant ground over the final stages. Although he was well beaten, W Rixon said that in his opinion, PAS GUARANTEE would continue to derive benefit from racing.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

 

RACE 3 – CARRINGTON WINNERS PACE – 1609 metres

LOCHIEL NZ– Inclined to hang out during the latter stages of the score up.

SURF ACE– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Approaching the 350 metres had to be checked away from WAVETHEBILL NZ when that runner broke gait.

WAVETHEBILL NZ– Leaving the 400 metres raced roughly, became unbalanced and broke gait causing multiple runners to be checked.  Connections were advised that WAVETHEBILL NZ would be stood down from racing until it can complete one satisfactory official trial.

TOTAL DIVA NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.

LAST TANGO IN HEAVEN NZ– Post-race swab samples were obtained.

DOUBLE ENCOUNTER– Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines.  No abnormalities were detected. 

CHEVRON ART NZ– Approaching the 300 metres was checked by WAVETHEBILL NZ which broke gait.

SAHARA SIROCCO– Leaving the 350 metres had to be steadied when WAVETHEBILL NZ broke gait.

BOOM NZ– Passing the 350 metres was hampered by WAVETHEBILL NZ when that runner broke gait.

SIMPLY SAM NZ– Approaching the 300 metres had to be checked and taken away from WAVETHEBILL NZ when that runner broke gait.

 

RACE 4 – CLUB MENANGLE WARATAH FINAL – 1609 metres

NIGHT TO REMEMBER– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Driver T Ison pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(3) for applying his whip in an unapproved manner.  The particulars being that over the final 300 metres T Ison applied his whip excessively and rapidly without affording NIGHT TO REMEMBER a proper opportunity to respond.  T Ison was fined the sum of $200.

LETTYS REASON– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Driver J Reynolds pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(3) for applying his whip in an unapproved manner.  The particulars being that over the final 300 metres J Reynolds applied his whip excessively and rapidly without affording LETTYS REASON a proper opportunity to respond.  J Reynolds was fined the sum of $200.  Post-race swab samples were obtained.

 

RACE 5 – THE CORDINA GROUP LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres

ROCK OF JOY– Passing the 100 metres was inclined to hang out under pressure.

MY CRACKLING ROSIE– After beginning well over raced significantly when attempting to take cover from MY MOONLITE DREAM NZ.

HEAVENLY SIGN– Unable to secure clear running in the latter stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.

CARRERA SUNSET NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Passing the 100 metres had to be steadied when ROCK OF JOY hung out under pressure. 

KENDYS BUTTERFLY– Unable to secure clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

MY MOONLITE DREAM NZ– Worked forward in the early stages to obtain the lead and then immediately took cover from ARDENS DELIGHT NZ near the 900 metres.  When questioned trainer/driver J Trainor explained that MY MOONLITE DREAM NZ had to do more work than expected to obtain the lead due to the fact that MY CRACKLING ROSIE was overracing.  He added that he immediately sought cover from ARDENS DELIGHT NZ because he believed that horse would take him into the race.  J Trainor said that at its most recent start MY MOONLITE DREAM NZ had drawn an inside barrier and was able to obtain a favourable run behind the leader without doing any work in the early stages.  He added that tonight’s circumstances were vastly different and in his opinion reflected in the overall performance of MY MOONLITE DREAM NZ.  J Trainor’s explanation was noted.

GIRL FROM ROSEDALE– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Post-race swab samples were obtained.

ARDENS DELIGHT NZ– Worked forward to the lead near the 900 metres.  Driver J Brown was questioned regarding the tactics employed from the 350 metres in particular his failure to be able to maintain a position closer to the marker pegs.  J Brown explained that ARDENS DELIGHT NZ was somewhat difficult to drive and had a tendency to hang out leaving the 350 metres.  He added that he was endeavouring to keep the mare closer to the marker pegs but to no avail as she failed to respond.  J Brown added that ARDENS DELIGHT NZ did not travel as well as expected from the 400 metres and he was disappointed with the mare’s failure to finish the race off over the concluding stages.  J Brown’s explanation was noted however he was advised that obvious concerns are raised when runners shift ground in a manner that may afford stablemates clear running.

 

RACE 6 – SKY RACING SIBELIA STAKES (GROUP 3) – 1609 metres

ITS EBONYNIVORY– Leaving the 100 metres attempted to take a doubtful run to the outside of SOHO HISTORIA. While ITS EBONYNIVORY was waiting for a full run to develop SOHO HISTORIA shifted out under pressure at the same time BRAEVIEW KELLY NZ shifted in slightly. Subsequently ITS EBONYNIVORY made slight contact with the near side sulky wheel of BRAEVIEW KELLY NZ and was hampered which caused ITS EBONYNIVORY to race roughly.  ITS EBONYNIVORY was then unable to secure clear running at any stage over the concluding stages.

SOHO HISTORIA– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Inclined to shift out when placed under pressure between the 300 metres and the 100 metres despite the efforts of its driver.

BRAEVIEW KELLY NZ– Approaching the 100 metres shifted in slightly under pressure which caused ITS EBONYNIVORY receive a slight contact to its off hind leg.  Given the marginal shift of BRAEVIEW KELLY NZ and the fact that ITS EBONYNIVORY had been taken out by SOHO HISTORIA no action was taken.

AARDIES EXPRESS NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Raced three wide during the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.  Post-race swab samples were obtained.

 

RACE 7 – PRYDE’S POWERPAK TROTTERS MOBILE 2300 metres

SUNNY GEE– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. 

RAVE ON HALL– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. 

VICTREE HILL– Leaving the 600 metres shifted away from the marker pegs to race in the running line and in doing so JUNGLE EYES which was improving with momentum had to be steadied.  Driver B McDonough was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

CONSTANTINOPLE– Post-race swab samples were obtained.

JUNGLE EYES– Leaving the 700 metres commenced to improve on a wide course in what was the running line.  As JUNGLE EYES approached VICTREE HILL that runner shifted wider on the track and this caused JUNGLE EYES to be steadied and race slightly wider for a short distance.  JUNGLE EYES will be re-included in the mobile barrier draw.

POWDERKEG– Broke gait during the score up and was out of position at the start.  Connections were advised that POWDERKEG will be continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw for the immediate future.

 

RACE 8 – BREED YOUR MARE AT SUCCESS STUD PACE – 1609 metres

MAJIC MOMENT NZ– Passing the 1300 metres was hampered by LITTLE BLISS when that runner broke gait.

LITTLE BLISS– Passing the 1300 metres became unbalanced and broke gait.  In view of its recent good record a warning was issued.

TITIAN RAIDER– Leaving the 300 metres became unbalanced and broke gait.  In view of its recent good record a warning was issued.

NICHOLAS CAGE NZ– Passing the 500 metres was inclined to hang in and contacted marker pegs.  Passing the 300 metres was hampered by TITIAN RAIDER which broke gait.

HAVEYOUCHECKEDIN– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.

CAULONIA COURAGE– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Post-race swab samples were obtained.
