RACE 1 – DE ROSA HIGHWAY MOTORS 2YO PACE (1684MS)
SVENN (D. Egerton-Green) - Caused a false start when the near-side lugging pole got caught under the head check. Driver D Egerton-Green was shown a section of the footage where racing in the back straight on the final occasion he elected to shift outwards to secure clear running resulting in DO IT MY WAY (T. Wheeler) being inconvenienced for a short distance. Mr Egerton-Green was advised to show more care when shifting ground in future events.
KINKY (S. McDonald) - Galloped out. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
MAJOR TYPHOON (S. Young) - Hung inwards and contacted a marker peg when racing into the front straight on the final occasion.
BATAVIA WEST (P. Tilbrook) - Commenced to give ground in the vicinity of 400m to be beaten 70 metres.
DO IT MY WAY (T. Wheeler) - Inconvenienced for a short distance when racing in the back straight on the final occasion.
RACE 2 – HOWLETT TROTTING STABLES TROT (2185MS)
MRIYA DREAM (B Johnson) - Delayed the start. A warning was placed against the gelding’s starting manners. Commenced to give ground in the vicinity of 500m to be beaten 84 metres. A warning was placed against the gelding’s racing performance.

MORISSETTE (M. Miller) - Hung inwards over the early stages of the event and broke gait racing into the back straight on the first occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial. Trailed the field thereafter and took no competitive part. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Costello advised that the mare will be racing in hopples for future events.
RACE 4 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE (1684MS)
Trainer M. Reed (PRIME MOVER) sort and was granted permission for the gelding to race bare behind.
ATLAS THE TITAN (S. McDonald) - Checked and broke gait racing in the front straight to receive the bell.
PRIME MOVER NZ (S. Suvaljko) - Inconvenienced racing in the front straight to receive the bell.
General: Stewards interviewed Drivers S. McDonald (ALTAS THE TITAN) and K. Symington (HI SUGA RUSH NZ) in relation to ATLAS THE TITAN breaking gait racing in the front straight to receive the bell. After taking evidence from both drivers and viewing the official patrol footage it was established that after HI SUGA RUSH NZ initially gained a marginal advantage on ATLAS THE TITAN and electing to shift outwards into the moving line, Mr McDonald briefly tried to resist the movement resulting in ATLAS THE TITAN being placed awkwardly to the inside of KRIPKE (B. Giudice) and breaking gait as a consequence. While accepting Mr McDonalds evidence proffered that he was prepared and that ATLAS THE TITAN resented the movement, Stewards reminded Mr Symington of his obligations when shifting ground in future events.
RACE 5 – AUSTRALIAN PREMIUM FEEDS LIGHTNING LAP SERIES PACE (1177MS)
Trainer H. Reeves (NORTHERN GAZE) sort and was granted permission for the gelding to race in an open bridle and remove the dolly vardons.
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 6 – HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY CRUZ GEORGE PACE (2185MS)
General: Driver B. Johnson (YANKEEDELIGHT NZ) was found guilty to a charge under HR149(2) for driving in an unacceptable manner, the particulars of the charge being after being positioned in the 3 wide line towards the rear of the field when racing into the back straight on the first occasion, he elected to travel into a four wide position and continue to race forward challenging OUR EAGLE BAY (T Wheeler) for the outside leader's position until racing out of the back straight on the first occasion when there wasn't a realistic chance of obtaining that position. Further, he then elected to remain in a three-wide position for the remainder of the event causing YANKEEDELIGHT NZ to tire and giving ground from the 200m to finish in last position. Stewards were of the opinion that by applying these driving tactics he had driven in an unacceptable manner. In assessing penalty Stewards took into consideration his unblemished record under this rule, the degree of culpability and the effect of the tactics he adopted had on the overall performance of YANKEEDELIGHT NZ. Stewards accordingly imposed a 21-day suspension on Mr Johnsons licence to drive in races which will commence midnight 8 April 2024. Further, Mr Johnson was reprimanded under the provisions of HR 156(4)(b)(ii) for using the whip when his drive was out of contention.
RACE 7 – CHAFF CITY LIGHTNING LAP SERIES PACE (1177MS)
MISS LAMARR (T. Wheeler) - Held up for clear running for the entirety of the home straight.
At the request of Trainer C. King, ALTA QUEEN was placed back in the mobile barrier draw.
MAGIC EYE MICK (L. Steer) - Out of position as the start was effected. Will continue to be placed right outside the mobile barrier draw.
Trainer Mr M Young pleaded guilty to a charge under HR231(2) for misconduct for directing inappropriate comments towards licenced person D Chandler between the pavilion and the stall area. When assessing penalty Stewards considered the nature of his conduct and his record under this rule and he was subsequently fined $1500 with $1000 being suspended for 12 months.
RACE 8 – JARRA INFUSION PINJARRA 3YO PACE (2185MS)
TEMPT THE STARS (S. McDonald) - Commenced to give ground in the vicinity of 400m to be beaten 64 metres.
BANK NOTICE (R. Warwick) - Commenced to give ground in the vicinity of 500m to be beaten 148 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
