RACE 1 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

HOLD BACK THE RIVER NZ– Placed in restricted room entering the first turn.

TO INFINITYNBEYOND– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Broke stride in the early stages of the score up.  A warning was issued.  Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

SINBINNED– Pre-race sample was taken. 

MONDELLO BEACH– Driver P Hedges was reprimanded under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after the start approaching the first turn closed down the track to obtain a marker peg position and as a result restricted the racing room of HOLD BACK THE RIVER NZ.

SNOW HUNTER– Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 2 – RANVET PACE – 1609 metres

POPSTAROMAR– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Pre-race sample was taken.  Sustained a flat tyre as the field raced down the back straight on the final occasion as a result of contact.

SPIRIT KING– Cast its near side hind plate during the event.  Post-race sample was taken.

SIR SIMON– Driver J Bigeni pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 168(1)(a) in that when racing down the back straight on the final occasion when manoeuvring to a three wide position contacted the off side wheel of POPSTAROMAR resulting in a puncture.  Driver J Bigeni was fined the sum of $200.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record in relation to careless driving.

 

RACE 3 – THE RUG RACK PACE – 1609 metres

HEAVENLY HOLLY– Driver M Formosa was reprimanded under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when entering the first turn closed down the track and obtained a position in the running line however restricted the racing room of JAY OK which was hampered.

FAR OUT BRO– Pre-race sample was taken. 

JAY OK– Placed in restricted racing room rounding the first turn and was hampered.  Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 4 – BILL AND GLENN TOMLIN MEMORIAL HEAT 1 – 2030 metres

LIGHTNING BOB– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Post-race sample was taken.

STEALTH BOMBA NZ– Broke stride in the early stages of the score up.  Connections were advised given its recent record it will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.  Had a tendency to shift ground up the track whilst under pressure in the early stages of the run to the finish.  Driver L Whittaker was cautioned in relation to the manner in which he applied the whip over the concluding stages. 

ULTIMATE RHAPSODY– Upon request from connections was re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

MAJOR MICKEY– Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

 

RACE 5 – BILL AND GLENN TOMLIN MEMORIAL HEAT 2 – 2030 metres

PENURIOUS– Sustained a contact to the near side wheel coming to the 1200 metres.

CONOR MCGREGOR NZ– Checked and locked wheels as the field entered the first turn.

SKY DIAMOND NZ– Tightened for racing room entering the first turn and was ultimately checked when locking wheels with CONOR MCGREGOR NZ.

ROLLING WITH VAL– Checked as the field raced into the home straight with a lap remaining.

JEFFCOATE– Driver G Panella was found guilty of a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after the start was affected commenced to shift down the track when not clear of SKY DIAMOND NZ (T Ison).  This movement continued as the field approached the first turn which placed SKY DIAMOND NZ in restricted room and as a result driver T Ison was obliged to take hold and as a result locked wheels with CONOR MCGREGOR NZ where both runners were ultimately checked.  Stewards did note that CONOR MCGREGOR NZ hung up the track slightly entering the turn however felt the main contribution factor to the interference was the movement from the outside in.  Driver G Panella’s licence was suspended for a period of 10 days.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account her record in relation to interference and the minor contributions from CONOR MCGREGOR NZ shifting up the track.  Post-race sample was taken.

BAT MATSON– Pulled hard during the score up.  Hampered as the field raced into the home straight with a lap remaining.

GLENFRANKIE– Checked when racing into the home straight with a lap remaining.

THE MIGHTY MONDO NZ– Pre-race sample was taken.  Had a tendency to over race severely when LACHIES IDEAL made a three wide move to which THE MIGHTY MONDO NZ shifted out and contacted the sulky of PENURIOUS and as a result broke stride.  Ultimately THE MIGHTY MONDO NZ was retired from the event.  Connections were advised it will now be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.

 

RACE 6 – BILL AND GLENN TOMLIN MEMORIAL HEAT 3 – 2030 metres

COLERNE– Slow away as the start was affected.

TEAK NZ– Post-race sample was taken.

DAGGY LAMB NZ– Pre-race sample was taken. 

MACS TOMADO NZ– Broke the near side front hopple loop shortly after the start was affected and then when coming down the home straight with a lap remaining commenced to race roughly and ultimately broke stride.  Stewards inspected the gear and found it to be of suitable quality.  No further action was taken

 

RACE 7 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE – 2030 metres

WHITE STAR MOLLY– Pre-race sample was taken. 

FLYING SHARD– Placed in restricted racing room entering the back straight on the first occasion and contacted marker pegs.

WALLAROY BOY– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

MAKO MONDO– Shifted in slightly as the field entered the back straight on the first occasion placing FLYING SHARD in restricted room and as a result contacted marker pegs.

SPUNKYS GOTSECRETS– broke stride passing the 1700 metres when racing three wide. Driver B Hughes reported that the breastplate had broke which may have contributed. Stewards informed connections a warning would be issued.

 

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP HRNSW GUARANTEED TWO YEAR OLD PACE – 169 metres

POINT LOOKOUT NZ– Had a tendency to hang in at various stages.

PETES CRUNCH TIME– Post-race sample was taken.

DELIANUOVA– Pre-race sample was taken.  When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver L McCarthy explained that his runner may have not been suited to the wet condition. He also advised that it would now be spelled.

 

RACE 9 – CARBINE CHEMICALS PACE – 1609 metres

IM NO GIFT– Post-race sample was taken.

DRIVING MISS MOLLY– Pre-race sample was taken.  Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

SQUADRON – Galloped away as the start was affected.  A warning was issued.  Broke stride as the field negotiated the final turn.  A warning was issued.
