RACE 1 – LOGAN FURNITURE & BEDDING AND BI RITE PACE – 1760 metres

TRIPLE EMM- Hung out and raced roughly for some distance after the start.

SAFE JEWELS– Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 2 – CGJ GLASS & ALUMINIUM AND KELLYS CAR SALES PACE (JOHN AND BERYL DEAN MEMORIAL HEAT) – 1760 metres

VERY NEEDY– Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride and galloped during the score up and caused a false start. Trainer/Driver Mr D Mackney was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing record.

LIMOUSINE LOCKET– Weakened noticeably inside the 500 metres and tailed the field. Connections were advised that prior to racing again LIMOUSINE LOCKET must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

ONE MORE ALTA– Pulled hard during the early and middle stages, then weakened noticeably inside the 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding displayed an elevated heart rate. Connections were advised the provision of last chance to race truly would be placed on the geldings racing record.

TASMANS DELIGHT– Hampered and had to be shifted wider near the 400 metres when racing outside CASSINO MAN.

SONOFABET– Sustained a flat tyre passing the 400 metres.

HILARIOUS GEE– Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped. Trainer/Driver Mr L Burns was advised that prior to racing again HILARIOUS GEE must perform satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial.

SMOLENSKI– Post-race swab sample.

HAPPY HAMISH– Held up and unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the home straight.

JUNIOR RYAN– Broke stride and galloped during the score up. Trainer Driver Miss L Weidemann was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing record.

CASSINO MAN– Raced ungenerously under pressure inside the 500 metres and hung out passing the 400 metres.

 

RACE 3 – BELL & JOHNSON SOLICITORS AND WATSONS KITCHENS PACE (JOHN AND BERYL DEAN MEMORIAL HEAT) – 1760 metres

ROSIES ROSETTE– Slow to begin. Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.

LUCKY TERROR– When questioned in relation to the performance, Trainer/Driver Mr T Ison explained that after being driven with vigour in the early stages in an attempt to obtain the lead, the gelding failed to muster sufficient speed to do so and was forced to race outside the lead without cover. He said that LUCKY TERROR failed to travel in the middle stages and was under pressure from the 500 metres and disappointing in the run to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Ison was advised that prior to racing again LUCK TERROR must perform satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial.

SAN SABA– Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped. Connections were advised that prior to racing again SAN SABA must perform satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial.

COBLA ROYALE– Passed required veterinary examination. Driver B Hughes was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)9a)(iii), for allowing the mare to shift wider passing the 600 metres when not clear of LUCKY TERROR which was forced wider on the track. Post-race swab sample.

LIMOUSINE CHEEKY– Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

MICK SHANNON– Failed to respond to its driver’s urgings at any stage and weakened inside the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer/Driver Miss S Rushbrook was advised that prior to racing again MICK SHANNON must perform competitively in 2 qualifying trials, further a stand down period of 14 days would be applied.

MY LATIN LADY– Broke stride free of any external factors near the 600 metres and galloped. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing record.

 

RACE 4 – C & D ELECTRONICS AND TAPSCOTT SERVICE STATION PACE (SANTOS HEAT 1) – 2160 metres

LEXY CAN BERN– Pre-race blood sample. Locked wheels approaching the home turn with PARATROUPER when both runners shifted ground slightly.

RUBINI– Trainer/Driver Miss L Weidemann was reprimanded under Rule 163(3), for failing to trail directly behind the runner in front, entering the home straight on the first occasion.

ALWAYS BOPPING– Weakened noticeably inside the 500 metres and tailed the field. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised that prior to racing again ALWAYS BOPPING must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

PARATROUPER– Locked wheels approaching the home turn. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 5 – NAMOI WESTERN VETERINARY CLINIC PACE (SANTOS HEAT 2) – 2160 metres

MILLIONDOLLAR KISS– Sustained a flat tyre during the race.

FAR OUT RINGO– Driver L Sutton was fined $100 under rule 162(1)(y), for failing to adhere to the minimum time standards for the first half of the last mile. Post-race swab sample.

IN CHEVRON WE TRUST NZ– Locked wheels for a short distance approaching the home turn with RAINBOW JET when both runners shifted ground slightly.

RAINBOW JET– Pulled hard during the middle stages. Locked wheels approaching the home turn.

ZOEMAGIC– Pulled hard during the middle stages.

IMPERIAL SNAPPER– Broke stride free of any external factors during the score up, galloped and was out of position at the start. Trainer/Driver Miss S Rushbrook was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

BENJIMAGEE– Pre-race blood sample. Pulled hard during the early and middle stages.

 

RACE 6 – GORDON ROADWAYS PACE (SANTOS HEAT 3) – 2160 metres

STILTON– Pre-race blood sample. Failed to respond to its drivers urgings inside the 900 metres and weakened noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr M Finlay advised Stewards the gelding would be retired. Notwithstanding this advice, Mr Finlay was told that prior to racing again STILTON must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

WHATA TERROR– Post-race swab sample.

AMERICAN MANDY– Pulled hard during the middle stages and had to be steadied for some distance passing the winning post when racing behind MISS MARAVU.

THE WATERBOY NZ– When questioned in relation to the performance, Trainer/Driver Mr T Ison explained, that despite racing in a prominent position in the early and middle stages, the gelding failed to travel and when placed under pressure inside the 700m was unresponsive and disappointing in the run to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Mr Ison stated that he would monitor the gelding’s recovery prior to committing to a future racing program.

GHOSTLY COURAGE– When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver A Bourke explained that the gelding failed to handle the track or travel at any stage and became unresponsive inside the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised that prior to racing again GHOSTLY COURAGE must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

MISS MARAVU– Raced roughly during the score up and was out of position at the start. Connections were advised the mare would now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Raced ungenerously for some distance rounding the home turn on the first occasion. Hampered and had to be steadied for some distance inside the 900 metres when racing behind STILTON.

BRAVE BONDI– Driver G Panella was cautioned in relation to the manner in which she applied the whip in the home straight.

DOLLARSIGN– Could not be driven into position at the start and was slow away. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing record.

 

RACE 7 – MAX ORMAN TOYOTA PACE (SANTOS HEAT 4) – 2160 metres

MONTANA NIGHTS– Driver C Shepherdson was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip in the home straight in a manner which exceed a wrist only flicking motion.

SHADOW ECLIPSE– Post-race swab sample.

ROCKS ARNT PETS– Pre-race blood sample. Crowded momentarily approaching the entrance to the home straight on the first occasion, then had to be steadied near the 400m to avoid MONTANA NIGHTS, which shifted out when not quite clear. Subsequently, C Shepherdson, the driver of MONTANA NIGHTS was reprimanded (AR163(1)(a)(iii).

JOHNNY DEE– Weakened noticeably inside the 700 metres. Trainer Mr J Forrest explained the gelding would be spelled. Notwithstanding this advice, Mr Forrest was told that prior to racing again JOHHNY DEE must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

MISTER ARTIKULATE– Checked, broke stride and galloped approaching the home turn on the first occasion when racing tight on the inside of ROCKS ARNT PETS, which was carried in slightly by RIPPIN GOOD FEELIN, which shifted in momentarily when not quite clear. J Donovan the driver of RIPPIN GOOD FEELIN was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii).

SCRUFFY MOTO– Could not be driven into position at the start and was slow away. Trainer/Driver Mr I Edmunds was advised a warning would be placed on the mares racing record. Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped. Trainer Mr I Edmunds was advised that a further warning would be placed on the mares racing record.

RIPPIN RUPERT– Hampered at the start and had to be steadied momentarily when racing to the inside of DELIGHTFUL RAINBOW, which shifted in when not quite clear. Subsequently, L Weidemann the Trainer/Driver of DELIGHTFUL RAINBOW was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii). Weakened noticeably inside the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Hetherington advised RIPPIN RUPERT would be spelled. Notwithstanding this advice, Mr Hetherington was told that prior to racing again RIPPING RUPERT must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

CLASSIE AMERICAN NZ– Broke stride free of any external factors near the 150 metres and galloped. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame in the near hind leg. Trainer Mr T Ison was advised that prior to racing again CLASSIE AMERICAN NZ must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness.

 

RACE 8 – DAISYS WATER CARRIER PACE – 1760 metres

PRINCE OF PAYNE– Pre-race blood sample.

IM A SHY GUY– When questioned in relation to the performance, Trainer/Driver Mr I Edmunds explained that after being driven forward and obtaining the position outside the lead the gelding failed to travel during the middle stages and weakened inside the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Edmunds was advised that prior to racing again IM A SHY GUY must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

IAM THE JOKER– Raced in restricted room in the early part of the home straight, was held up over the concluding stages and unable to be driven to the finish with vigour.

LADY PEBBLES– Sustained contact to the offside of its sulky in the early part of the home straight when racing inside SPARKLING SUE, which hung in and shifted in despite the efforts of its driver. Unable to obtain completely clear running at any stage in the home straight and went to the finish without being tested.

IM FREYJA– Held up and unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the home straight.

BULLDOG BRAWLER– Out of position at the start. Considering all the circumstances, no action was taken. Post-race swab sample.

ROCCO VARIETY– Held up continuously in the home straight racing in restricted room inside TARIFA GIRL and was restrained inside the 100 metres.
