STEWARDS REPORT FOR MELTON

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

 

RACE 1 – ALABAR PACE (1720 MS)

OORAH – Trainer Matthew Craven was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Hung outwards making the turn and in the home straight.

RORYVILLE – Raced three wide in the middle stages.

SPYGLASS NZ – Withdrawn on Veterinary advice at 9.44am and will now be stood down for a period of 28 days.

CAPTAIN HAMMERHEAD– Trainer David Moran was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the horse.

CLASSIC MISSION NZ - Raced three wide in the middle stages.

 

RACE 2 – RENOWN SILVERWARE PACE (2240 MS)

SKINNYDIP NZ  - Withdrawn on Veterinary advice at 9.44am and will now be stood down for a period of 28 days..

TWISTED BLISS– Held up making the turn into the home straight.

ROSARITO MISS– Withdrawn with Stewards permission and will now be stood down for a period of 6 days.

NIKI NAH NAH - Withdrawn on Veterinary advice at 3.20pm and will now be stood down for a period of 28 days.

RACE 3 – NUTREIN EQUINE PACE (2240 MS)

GENERAL – All clear for delayed for Stewards to review the video footage with regard to QUIET STORM racing in the home straight. After reviewing the footage, it was ascertained that shortly after entering the home straight QUIET STORM shifted down towards the sprint lane, however it shifted further down and raced inside approximately 7 (seven) marker pegs whilst gaining ground. When considering this Stewards were of the opinion that QUIET STORM had gained an advantage whilst racing inside marker pegs and as such acting under AHRR 66(e) and was relegated to last place.

CHANGEOVER GIRL – Held up in the home straight.

VICTORY GEORGE – Hung out under pressure in the home straight.

STYLISH GEM – Pulled hard in running. Checked and raced roughly in the home straight. On Inquiry Driver Rebecca Bartley pleaded guilty to a charge under AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference and was suspended from driving in races for a period of 7 (seven) days from midnight 20 April 2024.

YOUNG BLUEY – Held up making the turn into the home straight and until the latter stages of the home straight.

DUKES CHOICE – Hung in under pressure.

QUIET STORM- Held up making the turn into the home straight. Contacted marker pegs in the home straight. On Inquiry Driver Xavier O’Connor was found guilty to a charge under AHRR 163(2) for failing to restrain his horse whilst racing inside marker pegs in the home straight. Mr O’Connor was suspended for a period of 10 (ten) days commencing from midnight 13 April 2024

ROCKNALLOVERTHEWORLD NZ – Raced three wide in the middle stages and pulled hard in running.

LAYDEN– Inconvenienced in the home straight.

 

RACE 4 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2240 MS)

THE SARGENT – Tired, beaten 69m. The gelding will now be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being permitted to race again.

B K MERLOT NZ– Broke gait in the back straight and a warning issued.

OUR MARVELLA NZ- Trainer Brent Lilley was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the mare.

ANTONOV NZ- Trainer Brent Lilley was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Inconvenienced in the back straight on the final lap.

EL RESAMO– Raced wide in the early stages.

 

 

RACE 5 – TAB MARKOVINA FREE FOR ALL (2240 MS)

GENERAL – All clear for delayed for Stewards to review the video footage with regard to PERFECT STRIDE racing in the home straight. After reviewing the footage, it was ascertained that shortly after entering the home straight PERFECT STRIDE shifted down towards the sprint lane and shortly after it marginally went inside 2 (two) marker pegs. When considering this Stewards were of the opinion that PERFECT STRIDE had not gained an advantage whilst racing inside marker pegs and as such All Clear was declared.

 

FINAL COLLECT NZ – Contacted marker pegs making the turn into the home straight.

BACH NZ– Raced three wide in the middle stages.

PERFECT STRIDE NZ– Trainer Shane Sanderson was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Held up making the turn into the home straight. Contacted marker pegs in the home straight. Driver Abby Sanderson was cautioned for contacting marker pegs.

I CAST NO SHADOW NZ- Held up making the turn into the home straight.

CURLY JAMES– Raced three wide in the middle stages.

 

RACE 6 – CITY OF MELTON TROTTERS FREE FOR ALL (2240 MS)

LOCKSLEY LOVER – Held up making the turn into the home straight.

OLLIVICI NZ - Trainer Chris Lang was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Raced wide in the early stages.

EGRET - Trainer Anton Golino was fined $50 under AHRR 238 for failing to advise of the gear for the mare. Tired, beaten 81m. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope revealed a Grade 1 EIPH. The mare will now be placed on its last chance to race competitively.

LOVE GUN– Inconvenienced making the turn into the home straight.

IM READY JET– Raced three wide in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope revealed a Grade 1 EIPH.

ONE OVER ALL NZ– Trainer Jess Tubbs was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Out of position in the score up and will continue to be placed outside the draw at its future mobile starts.

 

RACE 7 – ALLIED EXPRESS BLOSSOM LADY (2240 MS)

FIRST DANCE NZ – Contacted marker pegs when hanging in under pressure making the turn into the home straight.

LADIES IN RED – Raced three wide in the middle stages.

RACE 8 – VALE PETER TONKIN PACE (1720 MS)

DIAMONG ECLIPSE – Contacted maker pegs making the turn into the home straight.

VANQUISH STRIDE NZ– Held up making the turn into the home straight.

SWEETPASSION - Held up making the turn into the home straight.

NONPARREIL - Unable to secure clear running in the home straight.

INVITATION ONLY NZ- Trainer Isabel Walsh was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Raced three wide in the middle stages.

RACE 9 – MIMOSA HOMES TROT (2240 MS)

GENERAL – All clear for delayed for Stewards to review the video footage with regard to SER PATRICK racing into the home straight. After reviewing the footage, it was ascertained that making the turn into the home straight SER PATRICK marginally went inside raced inside 2 (two) marker pegs. When considering this Stewards were of the opinion that SER PATRICK had not gained an advantage whilst racing inside marker pegs and as such All Clear was declared.

ANDOVER SUN - Trainer Zac Steenhuis was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Tired, beaten 125m. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope showed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery. It will now be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being permitted to race again.

KYVALLEY AMANDA – Inconvenienced and raced roughly near the 100m.

COURMAYEUR – Began badly and will now be placed outside the draw at its future mobile starts.

SER PATRICK - Contacted marker pegs making the turn into the home straight. Driver Mark Hayes was cautioned for contacting marker pegs.

GAELIC LAD- Trainer Nathan Cahir was cautioned for failing to advise of the gear for the gelding. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
