Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – GARY RIDINGS THERMAL HOT SPOT PACE FINAL (1790 MS)

MUSTANG MAX – pulled hard score-up. Driver Michael Gadsden cautioned for not taking sufficient corrective measures when the gelding shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

FORTITUDO – pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

STONEBRIDGE STAR – pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

OUTA CONTROL – pre-race veterinary examination due to what appeared to be the presence of pastern dermatitis (greasy heel). No lameness present and the gelding was cleared to start. 

PUNTO CALIENTE – pulled hard in running and then held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.

BILUM – driver Michelle Phillips fined the sum of $100 under AHRR156(3) for applying the whip to her drive on more occasions than are permitted over the final 200m. Clear record noted.

UNETHICAL – hung in score-up. Hung out and raced roughly heading into the first turn.

RACE 2 – MILDURA BOWLS CARNIVAL APRIL 29TH - MAY 5TH PACE (1790 MS)

DES TROY – broke gait score-up, out of position when start effected; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws.

ASHARAH – inconvenienced in the back straight on final occasion when advancing inside the leader APACHE WIND who shifted outward marginally before being corrected back toward a peg position.

APACHE WIND – driver Charli Masotti queried regarding the gelding’s tractability; notably shifting out under pressure over the final 200m when leading the event. Ms Masotti explained that APACHE WIND had lugged outward for the majority of the event, which was verified by Stewards via the various angles of the official race replays. APACHE WIND under went a post-race veterinary examination which revealed pulses in both front limbs and slight lameness present. APACHE WIND will now be stood down pending veterinary clearance.

MARKLEIGH CAZ – pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination. Raced roughly after the start when being restrained into a position.

GOT THE GOODS – pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination

CONSPIRATOR NZ – detained on course for approx. two and three-quarter hours for the purpose of post-race blood sampling.

RACE 3 – VERDE @ THE GATEWAY MAIDEN PACE (2190 MS)

ERNIELOVERBOY – hung in and contacted marker pegs on several occasions in running. Driver Neil McCallum queried regarding the overall performance of the gelding who was beaten 19.6m into fifth placing. Mr McCallum explained that the relatively slow early half which transpired into a quick last half did not suit his drive. Mr McCallum added that his drive's intractability throughout only added to the outcome. 

MISS POPPYS FRIEND – pulled hard in running.

PLACES YOU DON’T – held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.

COTTON CANDY MAN – pulled hard in running when positioned outside the leader.

RACE 4 – EUSTON CLUB PACE (1790 MS)

HARRY MCKINNIS – held up and no clear run concluding stages.

BRIE – held up and no clear run from approx. 400m to finish.

SURFIN AT MIDNIGHT – inconvenienced heading into the first turn when positioned between SIR ROMAN (Liam Older) and GUYS BETTOR BET (Mark Riseley). Stewards could not be satisfied that an one driver was to blame and noted the racing incident.

SIR ROMAN - post-race veterinary examination in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy due to having an engagement at Mildura in the 24 hours following this event. No obvious abnormalities detected.

GUYS BETTOR BET - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

RACE 5 – MCDONALDS IRYMPLE & MILDURA PACE (1790 MS)

WILD CARD NZ - driver Abby Sanderson cautioned for not taking sufficient corrective measures when the gelding shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

SPRING DELIGHT – pulled hard through the early to middles stages. Held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.

JILLIBY MISTRESS – pulled hard in running when positioned on the marker pegs.

SUNSHINE RAY – pulled hard in running.

HAWAIIANBEACH - post-race veterinary examination in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy due to having an engagement at Mildura in the 24 hours following this event. No obvious abnormalities detected.

KEAYANG BALBOA – pre and post-race veterinary examination in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy due to having not raced in 12 or more months. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

RACE 6 – TASCO PETROLEUM PACE (1790 MS)

AVOCA BLUES – driver Luke Dunne fined the sum of $100 under AHRR162(1)(www)(c) for not taking sufficient corrective measures when the gelding shifted outward under pressure over the concluding stages thus allowing JUST BURNFORU to obtain an inside run and advancing through into second placing.

BUTTER CUP – no clear run at various stages of the final 300m.

JUST BURNFORU – held up and no clear run from approx. 350m before obtaining a run inside AVOCA BLUES at approx. 125m as that runner shifted outward under pressure.

VICTORY GEORGE - post-race veterinary examination in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy due to having an engagement at Mildura in the 24 hours following this event. No obvious abnormalities detected.

DUFFY HOLLOW NZ – contacted marker pegs and broke gait heading into the first turn; last chance to race truly. Trailed the field thereafter.

RACE 7 – MERBEIN CLUB PACE (1790 MS)

ROCKING WROXTON – pulled hard in running.

ROBERT CROCKA – pulled hard in running when leading the event.

GRENADE – post-race veterinary examination in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy due to having not raced in 12 or more months. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination. Trainer Anthony Schembri cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear that was not accurately recorded. Clear record noted.

RACE 8 – THE GATEWAY PACE (HEAT) (2190 MS)

MISS LILY MAY – driver Wayne Hill queried regarding the overall performance of the mare who gave ground to be beaten 49.8m into seventh placing. Mr Hill explained that the relatively quick first half for this class of race and the fact his drive had not raced competitively in approx. eight weeks, and over this race distance do go some way to explaining the performance. MISS LILY MAY underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a slow recovery.  

ART OF EVIL – tired to be beaten 65.9m into ninth and last placing; warning issued.

SILKY SMOOTH EXCUSE NZ – pulled hard from approx. 900m when leading the event. Driver Steven Matson fined the sum of $100 under AHRR156(3) for applying the whip to his drive on more occasions than are permitted over the final 200m. Clear record noted. Mr Matson was further fined the sum of $200 under AHRR156(2)(a) for crossing his reins at approx. the 75m and applying the whip to his drive without a rein in his right hand. Clear record noted.

LILBITAHENRYTEE – pulled hard in running.

LESTER - post-race veterinary examination in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy due to having an engagement at Mildura in the 24 hours following this event. No obvious abnormalities detected.

MALAVA MISS – driver Michelle Phillips cautioned for not maintaining position on the gate prior to the start being effected. Clear record noted.

THE TOOTH FAIRY – broke gait heading into the back straight on first occasion; last chance to race truly.

WHODAT BOODAT – pulled hard in running.

AUCKLAND LASS – inconvenienced back straight final occasion when having to move away from a peg line position to avoid MISS LILY MAY who was giving ground at the time.
