RACE 1  –  PRYDES EASIFEED PACE  –  2090m Mobile

JILLIBY MENDOZA–Raced rough after the start was effected, before breaking gait. Broke gait for some time, ultimately pulled up out of the event. It was later discovered that the off-side shortener pin had released prematurely and fouled around the hopples. As it is the responsibility of the trainer to ensure hopple-shortener pins remain in place until removed by the driver, and thereby not an excuse for breaking gait, JILLIBY MENDOZA will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

MAYLEEJAE EAGLE– Shifted in near the 1200 and again late on the final turn, this resulted in its sulky wheel striking numerous markers. Driver P Ashwood was reminded of his obligations in this regard.

MUCHO MOVER– Failed to maintain its position on the gate until the start was effected.

General:Driver B Rattray was reprimanded for failing to keep MUCHO MOVER up and in position until the start was effected [AHR Rule 162(1)(j)].

General: Trainer/Driver P Dornauf was fined $100 for failing to notify Stewards of the hopple-shortener gear malfunction which resulted JILLIBY MENDOZA breaking gait. [AHR Rule 162(1)(rr)].

RACE 2  –  TASMANIAN HORSE TRANSPORT PACE  –  1609m Mobile

AH MACH NZ– Will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events after racing rough and breaking gait after the start, whilst galloping AH MACH NZ shifted wider, checking other runners to varying degrees.

SLINGSHOT– Severely checked after the start when AH MACH NZ broke gait and shifted out.

ROCK ON PLAYBOY– Severely checked after the start when AH MACH NZ broke gait and shifted out.

BLACKJACK JIM– Inconvenienced after the start when AH MACH NZ broke gait and shifted out.

RACE 3  –  CAVALOR EQUICARE PACE  –  1609m Mobile

VIGOROSO NZ– Will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events after breaking gait during the score-up, checking runners on the second row, obliging the Starter to declare a false start.

REMEMBER ME NOW– Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.

RACE 4  –  HAPPY EASTER PACE  –  2090m Stand

LOU LOUS ALLGOLD– Placed on its last chance in the barrier draw for races conducted under standing start conditions after galloping out when the start was effected.

KARALTA DAZZLER– Secured the early lead, withstood an early challenge from WHATTA GOOD REASON. Weakened over the concluding stages

WHATTA GOOD REASON– Unsuccessfully challenged for the early lead. Eased into a forward trailing position. Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish where it was tightened for racing room when SHAUN TO THE MAX shifted ground in the run to the finish resulting in a locking of wheels.

HOT EMBERS– Fractious behind the strands before the start. Reared when the start was effected and then galloped away. Due to its wayward barrier manners, HOT EMBERS will now be drawn on the extreme outside in standing start events.

KOLOVOS NZ– Will be excluded from the barrier draw for races conducted under standing start conditions after galloping out when the start was effected. In imposing the embargo, Stewards were mindful that KOLOVIS NZ had been placed on its last chance at its most recent standing start event.

SHAUN TO THE MAX– Shifted ground after entering the home straight in the run to the finish. This resulted in SHAUN TO THE MAX racing in the sprint lane. Locked wheels with WHATTA GOOD REASON

OZZIE MAJOR– Will be excluded from the barrier draw for races conducted under standing start conditions after galloping out when the start was effected. In imposing the embargo, Stewards were mindful that OZZIE MAJOR had been placed on its last chance, at a recent standing start.

MARGARETS CLAN– Slow to master speed after the strands were released.

General: Prior to the ‘All-Clear’ N Ford, the driver of the third placed WHATTA GOOD REASON, requested the opportunity to view the official race footage of the home straight in the run to the finish. On review driver Ford lodged an official protest against SHAUN TO THE MAX (R Ashwood), placed second by the judge, alleging interference in the run to the finish. Stewards, after taking evidence from the drivers, reviewing the race footage, and taking into consideration their own observations, upheld driver Ford’s protest and amended the placings accordingly to: 1-4-8-9-7. Stewards in assessing the incident were of the opinion that midway in the home straight in the run to the finish SHAUN TO THE MAX, which had led the field into the home straight, did shift down the track into the sprint-lane, tightening the racing room of WHATTA GOOD REASON, which ultimately resulted in a locking of sulky wheels, denying that gelding a clear and uninterrupted run to the finish. Further, Stewards also took into consideration driver Ashwood’s failure in his responsibilities with regard to AHR Rule 167(2), and were also of the opinion that had there be no shift by SHAUN TO THE MAX, WHATTA GOOD REASON would have passed that gelding and beat it to the finishing line. Driver Ashwood was subsequently fined $200 for failing to keep SHAUN TO THE MAX out of the sprint lane and/or respond quickly enough in attempt to remove it from the sprint-lane [AHR Rule 167(2)].

RACE 5  –  LADBROKE IT PACE  –  2090m Mobile

LALIBELA NZ– Inconvenienced when held up for clear running as SOMEDAN gave ground from the 500.

LORD VERDE NZ– Sulky contacted approaching the 1900 when SOMEDAN begun to over-race and pull hard.

SAPPHIRE GAMBLER– Out of position when the start was effected.

JACK JAMES– Out of position when the start was effected.

JIMI SANZ– Broke gait in the early stages of the score-up, refusing to settle and was well out of position when the start was effected, effectively taking no competitive part in the event. As a result of its indiscretion, JIMI SANZ will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

SOMEDAN– On entering the first turn, began to over-race and pull hard, racing up and contacted the sulky of LORD VERDE NZ. Eased wider and worked forward to the lead, where it took some time to settle. SOMEDAN began to weaken from the 500, beaten in excess of 40 metres. Trainer B Yole was informed a repeat performance would see SOMEDAN return to the trials.

General: Driver D Ford was fined $100 for failing to maintain his position on the gate with SAPHIRE GAMBLER until the start was effected. Stewards in imposing this fine were mindful that driver Ford had been reprimanded in recent times.

General: Driver J Watson was reprimanded for failing to keep JACK JAMES up and in position until the start was effected [AHR Rule 162(1)(j)].

General: Trainer W Yole was fined $50 for presenting COVEFFE HUSTLER to race in head-gear not registered to the mare [AHR Rule 273(6)(b)].

RACE 6  –  YOUNG GROUP PACE  –  2090m Mobile

JUSTIFY– Raced ungenerously throughout, failing to run on over the final 500 metres, beaten in excess of 90 metres. A subsequent Veterinary examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities. On questioning, trainer B Yole stated that it was his intension to immediately spell JUSTIFY. Stewards accepted trainer Yole’s undertakings, however deemed the performance below the required standard and as such stood JUSTIFY down from racing until satisfactorily completing one qualifying trial.

LANOCH BOY– Raced outside the leader. Under pressure from the 400, failing to run on over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 80 metres. A subsequent Veterinary examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities. Stewards deemed the performance below the required standard and as such stood LANOCH BOY down from racing until satisfactorily completing one qualifying trial.

CANT BLUFF YOU– Failed to run on over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 50 metres. Stewards, mindful that CANT BLUFF YOU had been placed on its last chance to race competitively recently, stood CANT BLUFF YOU down from racing until satisfactorily completing one qualifying trial.

KENYA NZ– Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.
