General: Due to driver M Jones suffering a reported non-Harness Racing related injury, Stewards approved the following late driving changes of J White, as listed below, all of which partook in the Novice Drivers Series:

Race 4 – MY ULTIMATE JACKO

                Race 5 – BEAST MODE

Race 7 – HEZ RAZOR SHARP

Race 8 – SNEAKY PEAK

RACE 1  –  PRYDES EASIFEED NOVICE DRIVER SERIES Ht 1  –  2090m  Mobile

IDEAL SON – Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.

MAGIC JOE – Inconvenienced and tightened for racing room near the 150 when other runners shifted ground.

ROYAL APPOINTMENT – Hung in in the early and middle stages of the home straight in the run to the finish.

IMPULZE – Inconvenienced when angling for clear running near the 150 when other runners shifted ground.

COOL SCOOTER NZ– Gave ground over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 40 metres.

MADAME ANNIE – Tended to over-race.

General: MAGIC JOE and IMPULZE were both inconvenienced in the home straight in the run to the finish as a consequence of the leader, IDEAL SON shifting out, and the eventual winner ROYAL APPOINTMENT hanging in.

RACE 2  –  MORE CONFIDENCE CONSULTING PACE–  2090m  Mobile

SPORTZSILK – Led the one-out line where it tended to over-race and pull hard.

VINCENZO – Led into the home straight where it shifted out. Driver J Watson was reminded of his obligations in keeping his respective drives on a straight course once in the home straight.

RACE 3  –  VALE MAX HALL PACE–  2090m  Mobile

SOUTHERN LUCK – Raced rough racing into the first turn when crossed by FIESTA STRIDE.

FIESTA STRIDE – Will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events after breaking gait shortly after the start was effected.

General: Driver N Ford was reminded of his obligations with regard to the tolerances when crossing other runners racing into the first turn, an official reprimand was imposed [AHR Rule 165(1)].

RACE 4  –  SMITHAWARDS NOVICE DRIVER SERIES Ht 2  –  1609m  Mobile

MARGARETS CLAN – Hung in on the latter stages of the home turn, resulting in its sulky wheel striking markers. Hung down into the sprint lane in early stages of the run home in the run to the finish.

LOU LOUS ALLGOLD – Broke gait racing toward the first turn, and subsequently stood down from racing. Stewards in imposing this embargo were mindful LOU LOUS ALLGOLD had been given a final warning recently.

General: BRIAN WHO was late onto the track after damaging a lugging pole on leaving the stabling area.

RACE 5  –  TASRACING NOVICE DRIVER SERIES Ht 3–  2090m  Mobile

FIGHTING FIRE – Held up when full of running rounding the final turn, wanted to hang out. Shifted out, contacting SHARMEY, carrying that gelding out onto HES APPLES. Subjected to a post-race Veterinary inspection where the gelding was found to bit its tongue.

KERALA STAR NZ – Raced up and contacted the sulky of FIGHTING FIRE near the 500 and broke gait.

HES APPLES – Checked shortly before straightening for the run to the finish when FIGHTING FIRE shifted ground

SHARMEY – Severely checked late on the final turn when FIGHTING FIRE shifted out, causing it to break gait and shift out into HES APPLES. Subjected to a post-race Veterinary inspection where the gelding was found to have a minor laceration to it off-fore leg.

MISTER FINNIGAN – Shifted ground in the run to the finish.

General: Driver L Daikin was fined $100 for carelessly allowing KERALA STAR NZ to race up and contact the sulky of FIGHTING FIRE. This resulted in KERALA STAR NZ breaking gait [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].

General: Driver T Ford was fined $100 for carelessly allowing MISTER FINNIGAN to shift up the track in the run to the finish [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].

General: Stewards questioned drivers O Weidenbach (FIGHTING FIRE), A Freeman (HES APPLES) and J Duggan (SHARMEY), into the reason why SHARMEY and HES APPLES broke gait in the latter stages of the final turn, also in attendance were driver advocates Neville Webberley and Adrian Duggan. Stewards, after taking evidence from the drivers, reviewing the official race footage and on considering their own observations, charged driver Weidenbach for causing interference by moving away from the inside line with FIGHTING FIRE, when insufficiently clear of SHARMEY. This resulted in contact to SHARMEY causing that gelding to break gait, shift out and check HES APPLES. Driver Weidenbach pled guilty to the charge. Stewards after considering the guilty plea, driver Weidenbach’s driving record and the fact FIGHTING FIRE was hanging leading up to incident, suspended her licence to drive for 3 Tasmanian Race Dates [AHR Rule 163(1)(a)(iii)].

RACE 6  –  CAVALOR EQUICARE ELITE–  1609m  Mobile

MICKEY OH – Shifted out under pressure in the latter stages of the home straight in the run to the finish.

DIAMONDS N CASH NZ – Held up for clear running entering the home straight for the run to the finish. Locked on one rein until straightening, shifting out inconveniencing CEDRIC SEYMOUR.

CEDRIC SEYMOUR – Inconvenienced shortly after entering the home straight in the run to the finish when DIAMONDS FOR CASH NZ shifted wide.

STAR MAJOR – Driven forward from the start, however, was unsuccessful in securing a forward position, left racing three-wide throughout.

General: Driver R Walters was reprimanded for allowing DIAMONDS FOR CASH NZ to shift wide shortly after entering the home straight in the run to the finish, inconveniencing CEDRIC SEYMOUR. Stewards in assessing the incident noted that prior to the shift, DIAMONDS FOR CASH NZ had laid in rounding the turn, but on straightening wanted to run out, further, in evidence, driver N Ford stated that CEDRIC SEYMOUR had shifted in itself which contributed to the horses racing in close proximity [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].

RACE 7  –  TASMANIAN TROTTING CLUB NOVICE DRIVER SERIES Ht 4 –  2090m  Mobile

WHERE YA BIN NZ – Led the one-out line throughout. Checked by its driver when tightened for racing room leaving the back straight on the final occasion and failed to run on from that point.

GOBSMACKED – Shifted in leaving the back straight on the final occasion tightening runners to its inside.

JACK JAMES – Back from its allotted position at the start.

DONE WELL – Stood down from racing after breaking gait racing into the first turn and then racing ungenerously throughout. Stewards in imposing the embargo were mindful that DONE WELL had been given its final warning two starts previously.

MR KIWI NZ – Checked by its driver when tightened for racing room leaving the back straight on the final occasion.

General: Driver K Williams was reprimanded for failing to have JACK JAMES up and in position when the start was effected [AHR Rule 162(1)(j)].

General: Driver O Weidenbach (GOBSMACKED) was fined $200 for carelessly causing a tightening to other runners on leaving the back straight on the final occasion, by allowing GOBSMACKED to shift in. Of particular concern to Stewards was the fact driver Weidenbach had been activating gear at the time rather than keep GOBSMACKED out in its true running line [AHR Rule 168(1)(a)].

RACE 8  –  TASMANIAN HORSE TRANSPORT NOVICE DRIVER SERIES Ht 5–  1609m  Mobile

MISCELLANEOUS – Back from its allotted position at the start for which a warning was issued. Pulled up out of the event with 1000 metres remaining. A subsequent Veterinary Examination found MISCELLANEOUS to have suffered an Atrial Fibrillation. With the findings, Stewards invoked the provisions of AHR Rule 101C(2)(a), standing MISCELLANEOUS down for 14 days full respite after which connections must forward on a Veterinary Clearance which includes a favorable ECG report, and once the report is received, MISCELLANEOUS must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.

SNEAKY PEAK – Carried a flat near-side sulky tyre after it was struck in the latter stages of the back straight on the final occasion. Stewards in assessing the incident were mindful that SNEAKY PEAK had been allowed to shift about prior to sulky wheel being contacted. Gave ground over the concluding stages, not being driven out due to the tyre damage. Stewards noted the circumstances.

FURY DAN – Back from its allotted position at the start.

General: REMEMBER ME NOW was late onto the track due to the need to refit the adjustable gear cord.

General: Driver J Watson was reprimanded for failing to have FURY DAN up and in position when the start was effected [AHR Rule 162(1)(j)].

RACE 9  –  FEHLBERG PRODUCE PACE–  1609m  Mobile

BONNY MY BOY – Faded over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 30 metres. On questioning, connections informed Stewards it would be their intention to turn BONNY MY BOY out for a spell.

CHECK IN NZ – Broke in the early stages of the score-up resulting in the gelding failing to fill its allotted position at the start. CHECK IN NZ will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

SHADY AZZ – Reinstated in the barrier draw for races conducted under mobile start conditions after satisfying reinclusion requirements.

RACE 10  –  LADBROKES PACE–  2090m  Mobile

OUR BALOU – Gave ground over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 60 metres. On questioning, connections informed Stewards they would be considering their options with OUR BALOU, most likely to move the gelding on. Stewards placed OUR BALOU on its last chance to race competitively.

JIMI SANZ – Tired badly over the concluding stages, beaten in excess of 110 metres. A subsequent Veterinary Inspection failed to detect any obvious issues. The performance of JIMI SANZ was deemed well below the required standard and as such JIMI SANZ was subsequently stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards.
