STEWARDS REPORT FOR ECHUCA

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

RACE 1 – MOAMA BOWLING CLUB PACE (1755 MS)

KYLOAN QUEEN – Shifted in under pressure on entering the home straight and corrected by driver Brian Gath. Warning issued against the mares racing manners.

BUDD SIDEWINDER – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and during the early stages of the home straight. Momentarily inconvenienced as Kyloan Queen shifted inwards on entering the home straight.

INSIDE LEG – Inconvenienced and raced roughly at the 600m.

ROSLYN GAYE- Examined by the vet pre and post race due to the mare attaining the age of 12 years. Cleared of any obvious abnormalities.

PLAN CE – Pulled hard during the score up at the first attempt at the start and was unable to be restrained to its correct barrier position on the second line resulting in Kyloan Queen being taken wider to avoid contact. A false start was declared. Plan Ce placed outside future mobile barrier draw.

ART ON FIRE NZ – Driver Donna Castle cautioned for the manner in which she shifted ground inwards at the 600m which inconvenienced Inside Leg.

 

RACE 2 –EMPD PACE (2160 MS)

MYNAMEISRUBY – Inconvenienced after surrendering the lead to Lilli Bet leaving the back straight on the first occasion as that runner galloped.

UP THE ANTE – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 36m. Post race veterinary examination concluded the gelding had blood present in the right nostril. Up The Ante was stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial, A satisfactory endoscopic examination and Veterinary clearance.

LILLI BET – Galloped leaving the back straight on the first occasion and again on entering the front straight on the first occasion. Trailed the field there after. Stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

FOUR STARZZZ RUBY – Pulled hard throughout while racing outside the leader.

MY ULTIMATE ROMEO – Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

SMILE WITH A GRIN – Driver Taylor Youl cautioned for failing to be fully in position at the candy pole prior to the start.

 

RACE 3 – MAJESTIC SON @ ALABAR TROTTERS HANDICAP (2130 SS)

The distance for this race of 2130m was incorrectly advertised as 2160m.

STARLIGHT RED- Pulled hard throughout while leading.

CROOKWELL EYES – Swung sideways as the start was effected and will be given one last chance in the standing start barrier draw.

STAR DOWN UNDER – Galloped after the start and was placed out of the draw for future standing start races. Held up rounding the final turn before utilising the sprint lane.

RACE 4 – ECHUCA EASTER CUP 31 MARCH PACE (2160 MS)

ACE DUIGAN - Examined by the vet pre and post race due to the mare attaining the age of 12 years. Cleared of any obvious abnormalities.

MURIEL – Held up and failed to obtain a clear run at any stage over the later stages.

SPEEDY SPIDA – Caught wide early and raced roughly while being restrained to a position closer to the marker pegs.

SURFIN AT MIDNIGHT – Gear failure during the middle stages (Slipped headcheck).

 

 

RACE 5 – SUPER CLEAN LINEN SERVICE PACE (1755 MS)

SHAWAMI LASS NZ – Pulled hard while leading. Driver Ashley Manton fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) after applying the whip to the mare with more than a wrist only flicking action over the final 300m.

PINNICALE HOPE - Examined by the vet pre and post race due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions. Cleared of any obvious abnormalities.

TINO TERE MAORI – Pulled hard while racing outside the leader throughout.

MISTER JIMARINGLE – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

FEEL THE REIGN - Examined by the vet pre and post race due to the mare attaining the age of 12 years. Cleared of any obvious abnormalities. Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn then utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 6 – SULKY.APP PACE (2160 MS)

SELF EXCLUSION – Hung out score up.

EYE SEE PHILTRA – Hung in score up.

NOBLE JULIA – Failed to obtain clear running in the home straight.

DALLAS NIKOLAY- Examined by the vet pre and post race due to the mare attaining the age of 12 years. Cleared of any obvious abnormalities. Pulled hard during the middle stages.

ELENNA – Driver Paul Weidenbach fined $400 under Rule 156(2)(a) for his unapproved whip use during the early stages of the home straight when he used the whip with more than a wrist only flicking action. In assessing penalty, stewards took into consideration the HRV minimum penalty guidelines and Mr Weidenbach’s recent driving record.

 

 

 

RACE 7 – DENNIE & DEAN OLIVER PACE (1755 MS)

BEAU BRONSKI – Pulled hard while trailing the leader. Driver Alex Ashwood was cautioned for contacting marker pegs rounding the final turn.

CONSPIRITOR NZ – Driver Steven Matson was cautioned for failing to being in position at the candy pole prior to the start. Out of position and restrained after the start.
