STEWARDS REPORT FOR COBRAM

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

 

RACE 1 – XERRI, EVANS ACCOUNTANTS COBRAM PACE (2170 MS)

KARUMA KEV – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

MOP NZ – Held up for clear running on the final turn and in the home straight.

REBEL WITH A GRIN NZ– Trainer Jeremy Quinlan was queried regarding the improved performance of the gelding which led into the straight before finishing 3rd beaten 4m.  Mr.Quinlan stated that he was not anticipating the gelding to find the lead as comfortable as he did, however once doing so he travelled well.  Mr.Quinlan added that he is still learning about the horse, having only had two starts under his care.

WELL WELL– Pulled hard middle stages.

BYRNESIDE BOOM– Driver Damian Wilson cautioned for failing to maintain his position behind the gate until the start.

HEZ HARRYWHO– Tired to be beaten 168m into last placing.  Driver John Newberry could offer no explanation for the performance.  A post-race veterinary revealed the gelding had suffered from atrial fibrillation.  In accordance with AHR Rule 101(2)(a) the gelding has been stood down from racing for 14 days, must undergo an ECG prior to a trial and then trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.

BINN WATCHING– Broke in the early stages of the score up, warning issued.

STRATEGIC MISS– ($4.60) Driver Codi Rauchenberger was queried regarding the overall performance of the mare which finished in 8th position beaten 29m.  Ms.Rauchenberger stated that the mare wasn’t suited to making a three wide move from the rear of the field with a lap remaining.  Ms.Rauchenberger added that the intention would be to drive the mare more conservatively in future starts.

RACE 2 –GRAINSTORE CAFE COBRAM PACE (1670 MS)

NEVS DREAM - Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

THIS YANKEE ROCKS– Gave ground from the 300m to be beaten 39m into 8th placing.

PLAYNICE– Began badly and trailed the field.  The gelding will continue to be placed right outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 3 – CENTRAL MURRAY CREDIT UNION TROT (2170 MS)

NAYOMI – Held up for clear running on the final turn and in the home straight.

FENG SHUI STAR– ($3.30) Out of position at the start, warning issued.  Driver David Moran was queried regarding the driving tactics adopted passing the 700m when positioned at the rear of the field.  Mr. Moran stated that approaching the 600m he elected to save ground one off the pegs instead of progressing ultimately four wide trailing the eventual winner Amys Baby Angel.  Mr.Moran added that in his opinion Feng Shui Star would not be suited to making ground wide, given that he would have been the widest runner for the best part of the last 400m.  Feng Shui Star was held up for clear running on the final turn and in the home straight, finishing in 7th position beaten 15m.  After reviewing all available footage, Stewards were satisfied that the tactics adopted were not unreasonable and noted the explanation.

NOOSA BOY– Held up for clear running on the final turn.

RACE 4 – COBRAM HOTEL PACE (1670 MS)

HANOVER STARZZZ – Tightened for racing room by Rocknroll Tallara approaching the first turn.

ROCKNROLL TALLARA– Driver Cordi Rauchenberger cautioned for tightening the racing room of Hanover Starzzz approaching the first turn.

HONEST HARRIETTE– Held up for clear running on the final turn.

RACE 5 – PAT BARRETT TYRE POWER COBRAM PACE (1670 MS)

General – Licenced persons Kevin Weidenbach & Wayne Potter were cautioned for conduct following a verbal altercation in the vicinity of the drivers room.

ROSLYN GAYE – (200+ starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.  Driver Damian Wilson cautioned for his body protruding beyond the sulky.

VICTORTHEINFLICTOR– Out of position at the start and placed on last chance in mobile draw.

THE MAJORS GIRL– Held up for clear running on the final turn and inconvenienced in the home straight by Plan Ce.

WIND SOCK– Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.

PLAN CE– Pulled hard middle stages.  Held up for clear running on the final turn.  Hung out under pressure in the home straight, inconveniencing The Majors Girl.

RACE 6 – BENSTUD PACE (1670 MS)

FOREVER YIN – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.

ZUBERI – Driver Cameron Maggs failed to appear in the racebook.

WATTLEBANK ARNIE NZ– Trainer Julie Douglas cautioned for failing to declare the intended driving tactics to be adopted by the stable runners.  Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.

RACE 7 – BAROOGA SPORTS CLUB PACE (1670 MS)

STAG PARTY – Broke in the score up and out of position at the start. 

ROCKNROLL KISS - Driver Tasmyn Potter cautioned for failing to be in position behind the gate at the start.
