STEWARDS REPORT FOR BENDIGO

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – STRATH HILL BUTCHER PACE (1650 MS)

ONECROWDEDHOUR – Held up for a clear run until the entrance to the sprint lane.

MARY AUSTIN NZ – Was caught wide during the early stages from its wide barrier. Worked forward to race outside the leader approaching the winning post with one lap to travel then gave ground from the 400m to be beaten 37m. Trainer Zac Steenhuis was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance, stating that the mare had worked in a similar manner in recent starts and had performed well. Mr Steenhuis undertook to contact stewards if anything comes to light in the coming days which may explain the performance.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SHOOBEE GOTCHA – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn.

SURBITON HARTBREAK – Driver Luke Dunne did not appear in the racebook as the driver. Failed to be fully in its position at the candy pole and at the release for the start and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races.

RACE 2 –RACE SERVICES PACE (2150 MS)

IDEAL INVESTMENT – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions and was cleared of any obvious abnormalities.

EAGLES AND INDIANS – Tired over the later stages to be beaten 56.3m, given the geldings recent poor record Eagles And Indians was placed on its last chance to race competitively.

OUR MYSTERY BET – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

 

RACE 3 – GOLD CENTRAL VICTORIA TROT (1650 MS)

MYRTLE VALE- Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn until entering the home straight.

CHRISTMAS BABE – Hung in under in the home straight.

CHAMPAGNES – Out of position at the start and then galloped shortly after. Will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Trailed the field for the remainder of the race.

MAJESTIC GA GA – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and contacted the final marker post prior to entering the sprint lane. Raced roughly over the concluding stages and was steadied as a consequence prior to the finish.

WINNIE COOPER – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the mare not racing since September 2020. Cleared of any obvious abnormalities and passed fit to race. Out od position as the start was effected and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Gave ground over the concluding stages.

HES THEMIGHTYSPIN – Galloped clear of interference approaching the turn out of the back straight on the first occasion. Given the recent racing manners of the gelding, Hes Themightyspin was stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

OFF YOUR FACESKI – Received some inconvenience while trailing Champagne in the score up and was slightly out of position at the start.

RACE 4 – SHEAHAN PLUMBING TROT (2150 MS)

MONTANA CHEVELLE – Pulled hard middle stages. Hung out in the back straight at approximately the 600m as Sangreal hung in resulting in slight contact to the right sulky wheel and sustained a flat tyre. Trainer/driver Shane Hall was questioned regarding the improved performance compared to its most recent starts after the mare won ($151). Mr Hall stated that the mare had suffered an atrial fribulated at its most recent start and after its recovery had continued to be balloted out of races due to low points. Mr Hall added that Montana Chevelle had been trialled well in replacement of the races and had improved its racing manners over more recent times.

ALLURING TYRON NZ – Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

SANGREAL – Hung in at approximately the 600m and made slight contact to the sulky wheel of Montana Chevelle. Tired to be beaten 60.3m A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

RACE 5 – SPRING H2O PACE (1650MS)

SUNSTAR -Driver Ben Xiriha was fined $100 under Rule 162(1)(y) for failing to adhere to the sectional time requirements while leading after he completed the second quarter in 32.5 seconds.

 

RACE 6 –  RESULTS FINANCIAL SERVICES PACE (2150 MS)

AUSSIEPRIDE – Tired over the concluding stages after racing in the one out one back position to be beaten 61m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Driver Annalise Scott was at a loss to explain the performance. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days regarding its recovery post race. A warning was issued for a poor performance.

RUBY WINGATE – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

FULLOFFLIGHT – Tired to be beaten 55m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

SWEET REVENGE NZ – Tired to be beaten 55.5m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

GOOD TOBE LOCKSLEY – Driver Rebecca Bartley was fined $100 under Rule 162(1)(h) after she failed to ensure her drive was in position at the start being out of position by approximately 2 lengths. Tired to be beaten 50m. Ms Bartley stated that the gelding had over raced throughout and is racing out of character at present and may derive some benefit from a spell.

RACE 7 – NIGEL MILNE HARNESS RACING (INSANITY LODGE) TROT (1650 MS)

IMPERIAL WHIZ NZ - Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions and was cleared of any obvious abnormalities.

ROCKY VALLEY – Caught wide during the early and middle stages. Worked forward to race outside the leader approaching the winning post with one lap to travel. Tired to be beaten 52m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RASTAMON – Pulled hard during the score up. Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

BUSLIN BRODY – Tired to be beaten 52.4m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

 

 

RACE 8 – MAX BAKERY & CAFE TROT (2150 MS)

TINEY – Commenced to give ground in the back straight on the final occasion and tired to be beaten 95m. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate however no other obvious abnormalities were detected. Driver Ben Xiriha was at a loss to explain the performance and informed that it was the stables intention to have a blood analysis conducted in the coming days and would report anything which may explain the performance. Placed on its last chance to race competitively.

DESIGNS – Galloped shortly after the start and will now be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Trailed the field thereafter.

AVANT GUARD – Began badly and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Trailed the field thereafter.

LAIR OF THE EAGLE – Raced roughly under pressure in the home straight.

LEOTARDANDLACE – Hung in during the score up and was out of position at the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Inconvenienced at the 400m behind the tiring Tiney. Tired to be beaten 78m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

AT THE DISTANCE – Held up and Inconvenienced at approximately the 400m as Tiney gave ground.

BULLAPARK BENO – Dropped its off side shin boot at the entrance to the home straight on the final occasion.

RACE 9 – OXLEY FEED MILL PACE (1650 MS)

ICANMOTOR – Pulled hard while being restrained to the rear during the early stages after being caught wide from the start. Icanmotor worked forward three wide over the latter stages and hung in significantly at the entrance to the home straight resulting in Into The Harkness and Icanmotor locking wheels and taking no further competitive part. A warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.

KEAYANG OMAR – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn. Received interference behind Icanmotor and Into The Harkness as both runners locked wheels.

TOPHUT JOHNY – Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

HAND WRITER - Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

INTO THE HARKNESS – Out of position at the start and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Checked and locked wheels on entering the home straight.

 

RACE 10 – ROTHACKER STOCKFEEDS TROT (2150 MS)

TETRA – After showing initial gate speed the mare galloped after the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

PRIMZ LUCK NZ - Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding reaching the age of 12 years and was cleared of any obvious abnormalities. Pulled hard in the score up. Raced roughly over the concluding stages.

CRONK – Held up for a clear run over the concluding stages.

THE RED WARRIOR – Galloped as the start was effected and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races. Trailed the field throughout. Galloped under pressure over the concluding stages. Given its recent racing record, the gelding was placed on its last chance to race truly.
