STEWARDS REPORT FOR BENDIGO

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

RACE 1 – NUTRIEN EQUINE HARAS DES TROTTEURS 2Y0 FILLIES PRELUDE (2150 MS)

SKY FLAIR – Paced in the score before breaking gait, with the Tom Thumb bit pulling through the filly’s mouth and proving difficult to control and a false start was declared. A last chance draw was placed against the filly. Trainer Jodi Quinlan will look at making gear changes to SKY FLAIR before racing again.

YOUR MAJESTY – Fractious in the score up with a warning placed against the filly. Was inclined to hang in on numerous occasions throughout the race.

THELMABELLA – Broke after the start and trailed the field throughout on the second start to race one. A last chance draw was placed against the filly.

SHEZALOVER – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 1700m before trailing the field.

PATRICIA RUBY NZ – Started to tire leaving the 450m to be beaten 79.20m. A warning was placed against the filly.

MAROON BELLS – Broke after the start, before being restrained towards the back of the field on the second start to race one. A last chance draw was placed against the filly.

RACE 2 – NUTRIEN EQUINE HARAS DES TROTTEURS 2YO TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS 1ST HEAT(2150 MS)

ALDEBARAN AXL – Broke in the early stages of the score up, then began badly the gelding will now be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

SIOUX WARRIOR – Hung in the early stages of the score up, then broke gait and was out of position as the start was activated, will now be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

OGDEN – Out of position as the start was activated, will now be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts. Started to tire leaving the 500m to be beaten 65.4m a warning was placed against the gelding.

SEBASTIANS WAITING – Held up for clear running from the 400m to entering the home straight.

KYVALLEY JAGGER – Broke gait in the score up and out of position. Will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

RACE 3 – NUTRIEN EQUINE HARAS DES TROTTEURS 2YO TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS 2ND HEAT (2150 MS)

RAINBOW JESTER – Broke gait after the start. The colt will now be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

ALDEBARAN ABEL – Raced roughly, then broke gait when free of interference approaching the 2000m.  Was inclined to hang out on various occasions throughout the race. Raced roughly, then broke gait when free of interference approaching the 400m, shifting out. Broke under pressure over the concluding stages. A last chance to race truly was placed against the colt.

VOLDAGHA – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 600m.

ALDEBARAN ZANE – Inconvenienced at the 600m when VOLDAGHA broke gait.

ROMAN SOLDIER – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 500m.

PARLEZVOUS PATTY – Hung in leaving the 900m. Started to tire leaving the 600m to be beaten 90.6m a warning was placed against the gelding.

BOOT LEGGING – Checked and broke at the 600m when VOLDAGHA broke gait.

RACE 4 – NUTRIEN EQUINE HARAS DES TROTTEURS 3YO TROTTING FILLIES 1ST HEAT (2150 MS)

THE PRIESTESS – Broke gait in the score up and out of position, will be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

LEGGY PEGGY – Pulled hard throughout the race.

KEAYANG TWEETYBIRD – Out of position as the start was activated, will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

RACE 5 – NUTRIEN EQUINE HARAS DES TROTTEURS 3YO TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS PRELUDE (2150 MS)

VAL THORENS – Withstood an early challenge for the lead from KYVALLEY MUGSY, before handing up the lead in the middle stages to VALTINO.

BILLY ZIPPIN – Sulky contacted by KYVALLEY MUGSY leaving the 1800m.

KYVALLEY MUGSY – Unsuccessfully challenged for the lead. Was inclined to hang in leaving the home straight on the first occasion. Shifted in making contact with the sulky of BILLY ZIPPIN breaking gait than trailing the field.

VALTINO – Worked three wide leaving the 1800m to take up the lead from VAL THORENS. Surrendered the lead approaching the 1000m to DEREK THE JET.

DEREK THE JET – Worked three wide leaving the 1300m to take up the lead from VALTINO.

MAJESTIC ACT – Out of position as the start was activated, then paced after the start, MAJESTIC ACT will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

RACE 6 – NUTRIEN 3YO TROTTING FILLIES 2ND HEAT (2150 MS)

THIRD EYE – Hung in when placed under pressure entering the home straight contacting marker pegs, then raced roughly.

SOPHIES MOTION – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 600m.

HURRICANE KATIE – Out of position as the start was activated, will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

RACE 7 – HARAS DES TROTTEURS TROT (2150 MS)

YOU NO ILL BE LATE – Pulled hard in varies stages through the race.

ALDEBARAN BOYD – Caught wide in the early stages before being restrained.

CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY – Out of position as the start was activated, will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts. Pulled hard in various stages throughout the race.

GRACIAS NZ – Worked forward in the middle stages to sit outside the leader. Started to give ground leaving the 600m. Stewards questioned driver Taylor Youl regarding the below market expectation of GRACIAS NZ.  Driver Taylor Youl reported she was disappointed in the performance of GRACIAS NZ and the stable would monitor the recovery of the gelding and report back to stewards if anything with the gelding comes about over the next days. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 8 – NORTHERN RIVERS EQUINE VET CLINIC & LLOWALONG FARMS TROT (2150 MS)

BAARLINEE – The all clear for this race was delayed in order for the Stewards to ascertain if BAARLINEE had received a fair start, subsequent to it being checked by another runner in the score up and breaking gait. After viewing the official race replays and taking evidence from driver Ashley Ainsworth and starter David Young, Stewards ascertained that BULLAPARK BENO, which had drawn in nine, had shifted down slightly in the score up and checked BAARLINE which broke gait. Consequently, Stewards declared BAARLINE a non-runner in the event.

BULLAPARK BENO – Hung in the score up, inconveniencing BAARLINE.

HES THEMIGHYSPIN – Pulled hard in the score up, then caught three wide and began to race fiercely in the early stages, before breaking gait when free of interference. A last chance to race truly was placed against the gelding. Started to tire leaving the 600m to be beaten 59.2m. A last chance to race competitively was placed against the gelding.

NIGHT WHISPERER – Out of position as the start was activated, will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

RACE 9 – ALABAR BLOODSTOCK 3YO & OLDER MAIDEN TROT (1650 MS)

BILLYSOPHIA – Broke gait after the start when free of interference. The filly will now be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts. Started to tire from the 800m to be beaten 176.3m. The filly was examined by the veterinarian after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Subsequenlty BILLYSOPHIA was stood down one satisfactory steward’s trial.

LOVENUS – Broke gait when free of interference when starting to make three wide move leaving the 500m. A warning was place against the mare.

HOLD THAT MAGIC – Was inclined to hang out in the score before breaking gait. Out of position as the start was activated and trailed the field. The mare will be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.  

MAJESTIC PARIS – Due to MAJESTC PARIS being engaged to compete at Ballarat on Thursday 11 April 2024 the mare was examined by the veterinarian after the race and revealed no obvious abnormalities.

ONTHERUNWAY – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when BILLYSOPHIA broke gait.

RACE 10 – WOODLANDS STUD TROT (2150 MS)

KYVALLEY PAINT NZ – Pulled hard in the early stages, was outside the leader throughout the race.

MAGIC MAID – Broke in the early stages of the score, beginning badly trailing the field throughout. The gelding will now be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts. Beaten 170.8m, subsequently MAGIC MAID was stood down one satisfactory steward’s trial.

PRIMZ LUCK NZ – Due to the gelding being 12 years of age, in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no obvious abnormalities.

BLACKRANGE GLORY – Out of position as the start was activated, will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

RACE 11 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2150 MS)

CRONK – Broke gait in the score up and was out of position as the start was activated and trailed the field throughout. Will now be placed out of the draw in future mobile starts.

ALDEBARAN MAVERICK – Started to tire leaving the 550m to be beaten 62.5m, subsequently ALDEBARAN MAVERICK was stood down one satisfactory steward’s trial.

HELLBOUND – Started to tire leaving the 800m to be beaten 202.2m. The gelding was examined by the veterinarian after the race which revealed no obvious abnormalities. Subsequently HELLBOUND was stood down one satisfactory steward’s trial.

TRANQUIL BILL – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 1900m. Subsequently TRANQUIL Bill was stood down one satisfactory steward’s trial.
