STEWARDS REPORT FOR BALLARAT

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 BALLARATTROTTINGCLUB.COM.AU(2200 MS)

ROMANY BROWN- held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.

ISLAND CAESAR- As the field turned out of the pre start circle the starter advised front row runners to take hold as second row runners were still turning. When being restrained ISLAND CAESAR  then became fractious. The mare was placed on her last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 36 metres.

ICANMOTOR- pulled hard in running, held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.

BETTOR  SPORT- held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.

 

RACE 2 –DECOGLAZE  PACE (2200 MS)

GIRLS VIEW- held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.

MARY AUSTIN NZ- pulled hard whilst leading. Driver Jack Laugher was cautioned for his use of the whip outside the confines of the sulky near the 400 metres.

TIME TO TORQUE- caught wide early and then restrained to the rear of the field. Held  up for clear running around the home turn. Stewards queried driver Kerryn Manning who explained that after restraining to the rear of the field, the majority of runners were racing one off the pegs, leaving her racing a considerable distance off the leaders and for that reason she elected to improve on the pegline , however she was then held up around the turn.

BLACK TUXEDO- Stewards questioned trainer/driver Charlie Borg as to the apparent improved performance of the gelding, with Mr Borg explaining that his drive had benefited significantly from being driven conservatively in the early stages of tonight’s race, and as a consequence was able to finish the race off.

SHE WILL WANTANO- held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.

RACE 3 – BALLARAT VET PRACTICE MAIDEN TROT (2200 MS)

The start of this race was delayed due to Launceston gallops Race 4 running behind schedule.

LOVENUS- broke under pressure in the home straight.

MASSIF CENTRAL- after showing initial gate speed the gelding then broke shortly after the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. After being restrained to his correct gait the gelding then pulled hard and worked forward to the lead,  then continued  to pull hard.

ATABOY CHARLIE- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to not having raced for twelve months- no abnormalities were evident .Inconvenienced after the start and the headcheck of the gelding became unfixed during the race.

IN REDWHITEANDBLUE- held up around the home turn.

AMOMENTTOREMEMBER- hung in under pressure and contacted marker pegs around the home turn.

RARITY ROCK- checked and locked wheels with NO REMORSE near the  finish as LOVENUS broke.

HEZA GUNSLINGER- inconvenienced after the start then broke under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 4 DEL-RE NATIONAL FOOD GROUP MAIDEN TROT(1710MS)

The start of this race was delayed due to Launceston gallops Race 5 running late.

JOEY BEE- hung in from the 400 metres.

KYVALLEY MISTY- broke free of interference near the 350 metres.

SKY LINDY- initially showed gate speed before then breaking shortly after the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Broke under pressure over the concluding stages and a warning was issued.

HURRICANE KATIE- broke after the start and will continue  out of the mobile barrier draw. Trailed the field thereafter.

BET BET HOTSHOT- broke after the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw. Inconvenienced and broke near the 250 metres.

WITH APLOMB- out of position,then broke after the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw- trailed the field thereafter.

 

 

RACE 5 DRN GOLD  PACE (1710 MS)

VALIENTE- driver Georgia Hayward was fined $100 for exceeding the permitted number of whip uses over the final 200 metres.

SASSYOLA- underwent pre and post race veterinary checks due to her number of lifetime race starts- no abnormalities were apparent.

STEEL THE MOMENT- worked forward in the middle stages and unsuccessfully contested the lead, before then tiring to be beaten 59 metres. A post race veterinary check revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards queried driver James Herbertson, who explained that with a modest tempo, he elected to briefly challenge for the lead with a lap to travel. However the gelding was then unable to finish off satisfactorily, and connections would drive the gelding more conservatively  going forward.

 

 

 

RACE 6 – COLIN REDWOOD MEMORIAL VSTA TROTTERS HANDICAP(1ST HEAT)  (2200 SS)

The start of this race was delayed due to Launceston gallops Race 7 running behind schedule.

FLOATING MOUNTAIN- fractious before the start, then slipped his crupper, requiring gear adjustments and further delayed the start, then reared as the start was effected. Placed out of the standing start draw.

NOBLE COUNT NZ- broke after the start, however due to the start being considerably delayed the gelding was placed on his last chance in the standing start draw.

GOOD HEART- inconvenienced at after the start as FLOATING MOUNTAIN reared.

 

 

RACE 7 – NICOLA TROT (2200 MS)

MONTANA CHEVELLE- tired to be finish distanced and was found upon veterinary examination  to have atrial fibrillation.  The mare was stood down for 14 days, with a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECg being required before the mare must then trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.

PARIS JAMILLA- began badly and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

B K MERLOT NZ- hung out at various stages of the race.

NO TELLING HEATHER- began badly and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw, trailed the field thereafter.

 

RACE 8 – ROSA MOZZARELLA  PACE (2200 MS)-

-MAJOR DRAMA- driver David Murphy was fined $100 pursuant to AHRR 162(1)(y) for failing to comply with sectional time requirements. Mr Murphy was also fined  $200 pursuant to AHRR 156(2)(a) for using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion when driving out in the home straight.

ROCKNROLL STARDOM- gave ground to be beaten 40 metres, a post race veterinary check indicated no abnormalities.

AVEIRO- held up and inconvenienced around the home turn.

 

RACE  9- POWERLITE ELECTRICAL PACE (2200 MS)

 SPECULATOR NZ- severely checked and contacted the sulky of MISS DAPHNE racing into the first turn, taking no part in the race thereafter. A post race veterinary check cleared the gelding of any injury.

MISS DAPHNE- initially showed gate speed, however when restrained near the winning post then broke and slowed abruptly, with driver Danny Simpson then dislodged from his sulky, however Mr Simpson retained a hold of his reins and the mare was retired from the race. A post race veterinary check cleared the mare of injury. Mr Simpson was assessed by the on course paramedics, and whilst havin some bruising he was cleared of any significant injury. Given the mares’ intractability she was stood down from racing pending the completion of a satisfactory trial.

VILLAGE RHYTHM- inconvenienced racing into the first turn. Held up around the home turn.

BEATBOXER- checked racing into the first turn and taken inside marker pegs, losing ground.

SKYZ ABOVE- inconvenienced into the first turn.

HAIR RAZOR- severely checked and broke racing into the first turn. A post race veterinary checked cleared the gelding of any injury.

THEY CALL ME AL- inconvenienced racing into the first turn.
