Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – WWW.BALLARATTROTTINGCLUB.COM.AU TROT (2200 MS)

TUBS NOW SLIM – galloped during score-up, fulfilled position on gate when start effected; warning issued. Pulled hard and raced fiercely when leading; then tired to be beaten 53.6m into eighth placing (warning issued for manners throughout and beaten margin).

WIN FLYNN – tired to be beaten 53.5m into seventh placing. Driver Brent Murphy conveyed disappointment in the overall effort and suggested the mare may be displaying symptoms of a viral infection; one which other stable runners had been afflicted with in recent times. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and as such, Stewards will follow-up with connections in the coming days as to the mare’s recovery.

BALTIC SPIRIT – pulled hard in running. Held up and no clear running rounding home turn final occasion.

DESIGNS – held up and no clear run rounding home turn on final occasion, then galloped at approx. 175m.  

LA VOLONTE – began badly; continue to be placed right outside the draw in future mobile start events.

SHADOW JUSTICE – trainer Jason Ainsworth requested that the gelding continue to be placed right outside the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 2 – BETAVET TROT (1710 MS)

LOVENUS – pulled hard through middle stages when on the peg line and then held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion before gaining clear running.

MYSTERIOUS PRINCE – held up and no clear run from approx. 400m to finish.

REINE DE LA LUNE – pulled hard through middle stages after unsuccessfully contesting for the lead position. Tired to be beaten 60.3m into ninth placing; warning issued.

FREMARKS PEGGY – galloped at approx. 1200m; warning issued owing to recent record. Trailed the field thereafter.

MYAMCO – pulled hard through middle stages and then held up for clear running behind the tiring REINE DE LA LUNE from approx. 300m before gaining clear running.

RACE 3 – BRANDT BALLARAT TROT (1710 MS)

CONSTANT – hung in under pressure at approx. 300m. Inconvenienced at approx. 250m having to navigate wider around SCAR whom had galloped.

MACHO MAN – shifted out under pressure from approx. 200m.

SON OF A SUN NZ – driver Kerryn Manning fined the sum of $100 under AHRR156(3) for using the whip in an unapproved manner, on more occasions than are permitted over the final 200m. Clear record noted.

SCAR – driver change; David Murphy replaced Brent Murphy. Galloped under pressure approx. 250m.

KIMORA SAFFI – raced roughly throughout and then galloped at approx. 300m. Post-race veterinary examination revealed slight lameness in the left-hind leg with no stand-down period required. Trainer and driver Michelle Phillips reported that the mare is usually afflicted with an unusual gait.

RACE 4 – BDTC150 ON TWITTER 2YO PACE (1710 MS)

GRIMSHAW BAY – out of position when start effected; warning issued.

SCHERGER THAT – raced greenly after start and then raced greenly through early and middle stages.

RACE 5 – BRANDT BALLARAT PACE (1710 MS)

VICTORY GEORGE – pulled hard in the score-up. Driver Liam Older queried regarding the overall performance of the gelding who was beaten 30.4m into ninth and last placing. Mr Older explained that in his view VICTORY GEORGE may benefit from a break after several engagements within the month of April.  

BETTORPATCHMEUP – trainer Matthew Craven fined the sum of $50 under AHRR238 for not advising dual-runner tactics by the prescribed time. In adopting this approach, Stewards noted that Mr Craven was issued with a caution under the same rule in the preceding 28 days.

GILTY BY THE BEACH – trainer Kari Males cautioned for not advising dual-runner tactics by the prescribed time.

LE BELLE BIJOUX – pulled hard in running.

RACE 6 – BRANDT PACE (2200 MS)

BUNDLE – pulled hard in running.

ROYAL DIVISION – pulled hard in the score-up.

BEACH HOPPER NZ – held up and no clear run rounding home turn on final occasion before gaining clear running.

RACE 7 – BRANDT EQUIPMENT TROT (2200 MS)

The start time of this event was amended to 9.07pm.

SER PATRICK – galloped at approx. 400m; last chance to race truly owing to recent record.

RACE 8 – ISUZU UTE BALLARAT TROT (2200 MS)

The start time of this event was amended to 9.37am.

EL RESAMO – pulled hard and then galloped during the score-up; caused a false start at the first attempt; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws.

ROYAL CHARLOTTE – pulled hard in the score-up.

PERFIDIOUS SUE – driver change; David Murphy replaced Brent Murphy. Galloped under pressure at approx. 300m; warning issued owing to recent record.

RACE 9 – BETAVET PACE (1710 MS)

The start time of this event was amended to 10.06pm.

MANHATTAN LASS - held up and no clear run rounding home turn on final occasion. 

IDEAL INVESTMENT – pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

BE THE ONE – driver change; Nicholas O’Connor replaced Xavier O’Connor (suspended). Pulled hard through the middle stages when being restrained. 

NICOLESCRUISER - held up and no clear run rounding home turn on final occasion. 

OUR AMERICAN MAID NZ - held up and no clear run rounding home turn on final occasion.
