Race 1 - LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QUALIFYING PACE       1660M

Mongolian Conqueror NZ – Gave ground from the 600 m.

R Eleven Art NZ – Raced wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.

Spirit Of Arion NZ - Broke gait when being restrained near the 1400 m. Given the horse's previous good record in this regard the gelding will be placed on its last chance to race truly. Driver reminded of his obligations not to drop his foot in a downward motion when activating gear near the 400m. Inconvenienced when caught behind the tiring Mongolian Conqueror leaving the 500 m.

Lucky Beach Boy – Broke gait for a few strides in the early stages of the score up. Hung in and contacted a marker post near the 300 m.

Alta Equus – Driver fined unapproved whip use.

Jaccka Wally NZ – Inconvenienced when caught behind the tiring Mongolian Conqueror leaving the 500 m.

General: Doug Hewitt (Alta Equus) was fined $200 for applying the whip in an unapproved manner by engaging the use of the elbow and shoulder over the final 200m. (AHR.156(2)).

Race 2 – JACK & KAY WALTISBUHL BAND 5 PACE   2138M

General: The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes as a result of farrier work being required for The High Commander NZ which cast a shoe during the preliminary.

Lochinvar Jag – Cast its near side front shoe during the event.

Always Smokin NZ – Caught four-wide in the early stages and when being eased to the rear of the field raced roughly near the 1800 m. Was contacting the sulky wheels with its hind legs during the early stages of the event. Left a one-wide position at the rear of the field near the 1000 m and raced wide but was under pressure from the 600 m. Driver questioned regarding tactics.

Teddy Disco –Found to have suffered a lesion to its off-side front pastern following the event. Acting on the advice of the Veterinarian the gelding was stood down for 6 days.

Mossdale Terry NZ – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and early stages of the straight.

Wisper A Secret – Raced wide with cover over the final 1000 m

The High Commander NZ – Hung out during the sore up.

General:  Pete McMullen (Always Smokin NZ) was questioned regarding his decision to leave a one-wide trailing position and race wide from the 1000 m. The gelding was under pressure from the 600 m finishing in 10th position beaten 12.7 metres. Mr McMullen advised that he was confident of a forward showing from the gelding after its performance on March 30 with his intention to press forward at the start. However, after being caught wide, he was obliged to ease the gelding. He further advised that due to the racing pattern of Always Smokin NZ he elected to press forward when the pace steadied approaching the 1000m. Mr McMullen told Stewards he was disappointed with the overall performance of the gelding and was of the view the tough run on March 30 may have taken its toll on Always Smoking NZ and as such it would be the intention of the stable to freshen the gelding up before again racing. Stewards noted the comments.

Race 3 - CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES OPEN PACE            1660M

Girl From Rosedale – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position in the lead near the 1200 m.

Miss Mucho NZ – Overraced and pulled hard during the event. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Orchid Stride – Left a one-wide trailing position at the1200m and raced wide until working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1000 m.

Race 4 - AQWA CONSTRUCTIONS BAND 4 - BAND 2 PACE   1660M

Lanai – Broke gait in the score up and was out of position at the start. The gelding will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.

Targaryen NZ – Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.

Race 5 – WOLF SIGNS QUALIFYING PACE     1660M

Hasty Bid – Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.

Nicks Pick – Held up for a clear run to the finish.

Rocknpenny – Raced wide with cover over the final 800 m.

Reds Star Deal – Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.

So Sirius NZ – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.

Prince Joy – Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.

Mister Reactor – Raced wide over the final 100 metres.

Race 6 - PELICAN WATERS RESORT BAND 5 PACE (B DIV)  2138M

Captains Pick – Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.

Amami – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.

Little Bolt – Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages. Broke gait near the 1300 m. Given the horse's previous record in this regard the gelding will be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Alta Magacian NZ – Overraced and pulled hard during the event. As a result, left the one-wide position near the 1400 m and worked forward to the position to the outside of the leader neat the 1200 m. However, the gelding failed to settle and continued to over race.

Race 7 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND OPEN PACE 2138M

Race 8 - CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES QUALIFYING PACE   1660M

Mahindi NZ – Overraced and pulled hard during the event.

Fraya – Fell in the back straight on the final occasion. An examination by the Veterinarian found the Fraya had suffered significant arrhythmia. Faya was stood down pending a satisfactory trial plus an ECG  and a veterinary reports.

Our Ultimate Ivy NZ – Inconvenienced when Fraya commenced to yield ground near the 800 m.

Miss Exclusive – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1100m.

Race 9 - PRYDE'S EASIFEED BIOMARE MARES BAND 5 PACE            1660M

Captain Of Speed – Near the 600 m improved up on the back of the sulky of Sista Bliss and race ungenerously for a few strides.

Dance Addition – Worked forward from the start to establish the position in the lead near the 1200 m.

Miss Ex – Left a one-wide trailing position at the 1200 m and raced wide until working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1000 m.

Sergios Rocket – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.
