STEWARDS REPORT FOR YARRA VALLEY

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 YARRA GLEN BAKEHOUSE PACE (2150 MS)

Race start time amended to 12.09pm.

Good Feelings, which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no abnormality.

Border Cross, which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no abnormality.

Shannon O’Sullivan, driver of Neanger Guy was cautioned for failing to maintain her position at the start.

RACE 2 IGA LIQUOR 3YO MAIDEN TROT (2150 MS)

Paul Grech, driver of Gunsen Rosie was cautioned for failing to maintain his position at the start.

My Jerry broke gait during running when clear of interference (1700m, 1400m, 1200m) and trailed the field.  The gelding will now be stood down from racing for 10 days and until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

A warning was issued against the racing manners of Da Prez, which raced roughly at the 350m before breaking gait under pressure in the home straight.

Karas Dream broke gait when clear of interference at the 300m and was placed on its last chance to race competitively

Boutika utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

A warning was issued against the racing performance of Gunsen Rosie which tired to be beaten 101m.

RACE 3 – YARRA GLEN IGA 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1650 MS)

A warning was issued against the racing manners of Joyful, which raced roughly after the start.  The filly then broke gait when clear of interference at the 1200m and has now been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Lizzies Legacy utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 4 – YARRA VALLEY TOYOTA 3YO MAIDEN PACE (2150 MS)

Josh Duggan replaced Rita Burnett (unavailable) as the driver of Thug Rose NZ.                                                                  

A warning was issued against Lady Miki which was out of position at the start.

Female Assassin broke after the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.  The filly broke gait when clear of interference at the 400m and has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Mistie Reign hung in under pressure entering the home straight.

RACE 5 - ASHMORES SMASH REPAIRS VICBRED PACE (1650 MS)

No reportable incidents.

RACE 6 – EASTERN GENERATOR HIRE TROTTERS HANDICAP (2150 SS)

James Herbertson replaced Rodney Petroff (unavailable) as the driver of Itsallandover.

Anthony Butt failed to appear in the racebook as the driver of Savvy Kyvalley.

Captain Mccraw began badly and will now be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.

Bee Bee Beroc began badly and will now be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.  The colt then broke gait when clear of interference at the 1700m.

Claudy An Gus began badly and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.

Hes Themightyspin was inconvenienced after the start.

Beware The Fury broke after the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.

Savvy Kyvalley broke after the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.

RACE 7 – DE BORTOLI PACE (2150 MS)

Theultimate broke gait on the first turn inconveniencing Bronski Moment, Our Bella Lucia, Ultimate Vinnie, Rueslan and Malibu Jack while Bronski Royal was checked and broke.

Playa Blanca utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

Stewards questioned Chris Alford (Theultimate) and James Herbertson (Playa Blanca) regarding an incident approaching the first turn when Theultimate broke gait.  After viewing all footage and taking into account the explanation of both drivers, it was established that approaching the first turn Theultimate, while endeavouring to hold the lead to the inside of Playa Blanca, had shifted in and contacted marker pegs, resulting in that mare breaking gait.  Stewards were satisfied that neither driver had contributed to the interference and no further action was taken.

RACE 8 – UNITED PETROLEUM PACE (1650 MS)

Christian Jaz NZ pulled hard through the middle stages and was held up for clear running on the final turn.

Tommy Bligh utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

A warning was issued against the performance of Miss Social Media which tired to be beaten 66m.’
