Laura Crossland, driver of Starlight Red was found guilty of a charge under rule 162(1)(www)(c) which states: A driver shall not allow his horse to shift ground in a manner which advantages another horse. The particulars of the charge being that at the Mooroopna at Shepparton meeting on 12 June 2022 in Race 7 the ‘Cleaves Garden Supply Mooroopna Trotters Cup’ as the driver of Starlight Red, that after leading and being the horse closest to the marker pegline at the entrance to the home straight, Ms Crossland allowed Starlight Red to shift ground into the sprint lane which resulted in Aristotle (Damian Wilson) being advantaged when being able to progress into a run between Starlight Red and Downunder Barkers (Greg Sugars), where Aristotle subsequently finished in 2nd place. Ms Crossland’s licence to drive in races was suspended for 2 weeks with the suspension to commence midnight 16 August 2022.
