Harry Croft (Lachie Manzelmann) - Raced three wide with cover from the 700m. Shifted in and contacted the sulky wheel of Always At Night, paced roughly for a short distance losing ground in the home straight.

General  - stewards inquired into the reason why Harry Croft( Lachie manzelmann) when racing to the outside of Always At Night (Mathew Neilson) paced roughly in the home straight, it  was established after taking evidence from the drivers concerned that when Always At Night attempted to shift Harry Croft wider in an endeavour to obtain clear running from the 200m point that when the sulkies disengaged Harry Croft shifted inwards as a result of the pressure applied by its driver to hold the position as a consequence of that shift in contact was made to the legs of that gelding causing the gelding to raced roughly losing ground. On review of this incident stewards took into consideration the circumstances leading up to this matter however felt Mr Manzelmann as a result of the pressure applied to hold  the position coursed the gelding to shift in resulting in the contact. Mr Manzelmann  was reprimanded for careless driving. AHR 168(1)(a)

General - driver Matt Elkins advised due to the slow early tempo he elected to improve into the race and felt there was an opportunity to take the lead where the gelding races best however the driver of Miss Mia repelled the challenge and then was obliged to race without cover which does not suit the gelding and was under pressure from the 400m.
