RACE 1 – THE TAB APP MAIDEN PACE – 1980 metres
WILLROBY – Leaving the 1700 meters was hampered and had to be eased wider as a result of, BABEROCK breaking gait. Improved three wide from the 1700 meters until obtaining the position outside of the leader passing the 1500 meters.
MAJOR ZONE – Pre-race blood sample. Leaving the 1700 meters was hampered and had to be eased wider as a result of, BABEROCK breaking gait. Leaving the 500 meters had to be steadied momentarily as a result of, LOUTHPARKSCHOONER shifting wider on the track at that stage.
DANCING RIVER – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, being hampered leaving the 1700 meters as a result of, BABEROCK breaking gait and subsequently had to be restrained to the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line approaching the 1500 meters.
LOUTHPARKSCHOONER – Pre-race blood sample. Driver A Varga was advised to exercise greater care in that, when leaving the 500 meters he had allowed his runner to shift wider on the track and race inside the line of MAJOR ZONE which had to be steadied momentarily.
FRIDAY THIRTEENTH – Driver R Brown was issued a reprimand under rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that, when leaving the 1700 meters he had failed to make the required effort to prevent his runner contacting the sulky of SEEMORE MAGIC as a result, FRIDAY THIRTEENTH had to be checked and subsequently broke gait. In not taking more severe action stewards noted that the running line had eased at that stage due to BABEROCK breaking gait. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities.
BABEROCK – Broke gait during the middle stages of the score up. In view of the mare’s recent record, connections were advised BABEROCK would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Leaving the 1700 meters became unbalanced and broke gait as a result, WILLROBY, MAJOR ZONE, DANCING RIVER, COURAGEOUS PEGGY, SEEMORE MAGIC and SWEET MEMORY were all hampered and had to be eased wider at that stage of the event. Passing the 1300 meters became unbalanced and broke gait on a second occasion as a result, SWEET MEMORY was severely checked and broke gait at that stage. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities. After considering the recent record of the mare, BABEROCK was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.
COURAGEOUS PEGGY – Leaving the 1700 meters was hampered and had to be eased wider as a result of, BABEROCK breaking gait.
SEEMORE MAGIC – Leaving the 1700 meters was hampered and had to be eased wider as a result of, BABEROCK breaking gait. Improved three wide from the 1700 meters until obtaining the lead approaching the 1500 meters. Upon request from connections and in view of the gelding’s recent record, SEEMORE MAGIC will now be re-included into the mobile barrier draw. Post-race swab sample.
SWEET MEMORY – Leaving the 1700 meters was hampered and had to be eased wider as a result of, BABEROCK breaking gait. Passing the 1300 meters was severely checked and broke gait as a result of, BABEROCK breaking gait.
RACE 2 – WESTS DAY AT THE PACEWAY PACE – 1609 metres
LASSETER SHANNON – Slow to begin.
SUMBEACH ART –Pre-race blood sample.
JOIN THE QUE – Inclined to hang out during the score up and consequently was out of position at the start, as a result MYSTICAL JAZZ was inconvenienced at that stage. A warning was issued.
PRETTY REASON – Pre-race blood sample.
BADLUCKBAZ – Commenced to weaken over the final 800 meters to be beaten 72.7 meters. Stewards questioned driver B Pringle in relation to the performance, Mr Pringle could not offer any explanation into the performance other than the gelding had become unresponsive towards urgings over the final 800 meters of the event and the overall performance was disappointing. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities. After considering the recent record of the gelding, BADLUCKBAZ was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.
MYSTICAL JAZZ – Inconvenienced during the score up, as a result of JOIN THE QUE hanging out at that stage. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 3 – BANJOS RESTAURANT @ WESTS LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres
SIANGDI – Post-race swab sample.
ROSETTA SHANNON – Commenced to weaken over the final 600 meters to be beaten 76.1 meters. Stewards questioned driver A Varga in relation to the performance of the mare, Mr Varga could not offer any explanation other than he was disappointed and that consideration would be given to the immediate racing future of the mare. After considering the recent record of the mare, ROSETTA SHANNON was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.
MISS TROCADERO – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1200 meters.
YELLOW BOW – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1300 meters.
METAKI MAJIC – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader passing the 1300 meters.
REDBANK OLIVIA – Sustained a puncture to the offside wheel leaving the 500 meters.
IM PLAIN JANE – Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 4 – STAR MAKER CAFÉ @ WESTS DIGGERS PACE – 1609 metres
STILTON – Driver S Welsh was reminded of his obligations under rule 162(1)(z) to fully drive his horse out over the final 50 meters.
OUR BUSHWACKER – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRNSW’s welfare policy. No abnormalities were reported.
SULTAN FELLA – Fractious in the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued.
STRAYTOTHEPOOLROOM – Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.
CORPORAL JUJON – Pre-race blood sample. Fractious during the middle stages of the score up. In view of the gelding’s recent record, connections were advised CORPORAL JUJON would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
HEAR THE CALL NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRNSW’s welfare policy. No abnormalities were reported.
LADY PEBBLES – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 5 – ROYAL STANDARD BREWERY @ WESTS PACE – 1980 metres
KILLARA INSANTY – Pre-race blood sample.
GRANDVIEW – Post-race swab sample.
PEGGY SUE SHANNON – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line approaching the 1700 meters.
POWER TO BOLT – Pre-race blood sample. Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.
ITS INEVITABLE NZ – Passing the 800 meters became unbalanced and broke gait for a considerable distance. After considering the recent record of the gelding, ITS INEVITABLE NZ was placed on its last chance to race truly.
RACE 6 – MERCURE HOTEL TAMWORTH PACE – 1980 metres
SHANNONS SHADOW – Post-race swab sample.
NIGHT LIGHTS NZ – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1700 meters.
BALBOA SHANNON – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader approaching the 1700 meters. Had a tendency to over-race throughout the middle stages of the event.
DIESEL DON – Pre-race blood sample. Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.
SIR MACADOR NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 7 – SCULLY PARK TAMWORTH PACE – 1609 meters
CHRISTIAN SHANNON – Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event. Driver B Pringle pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(2)(a) for unapproved whip use in that, whilst applying the whip over the concluding stages he did so in a manner considered not to be a wrist only flicking motion. When assessing penalty, consideration was given to the recent record of Mr Pringle along with his guilty plea. B Pringle was fined the sum of $200.
BELLA BLONDIE – Pre-race blood sample. Commenced to weaken over the final 400 meters to be beaten 57.6 meters. Stewards questioned driver/trainer C Sutherland in relation to the performance, Ms Sutherland could not offer any explanation into the performance other than she was disappointed and that it would be the intention of connections to retire the mare from racing immediately.
VANISH HANOVER – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1100 meters.
RAMBUNCTIOUS – Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.
WERENT WATCHING NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
RUNFROMTERROR – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 8 – TAMWORTH BREWFEST 19TH NOV 2022 PACE – 1609 meters
SAMMI DANCE – Post-race swab sample.
ROLAMAX – Pre-race blood sample. Stewards queried driver/trainer R Williams in relation to the driving tactics and overall performance of the gelding when finishing last beaten 56.4 meters. Mr Williams explained that after the first quarter was recorded in 27.88 seconds he believed that the position outside of the leader was available and commenced to improve three wide from the 1200 meters. Mr Williams added that once three wide his runner didn’t muster the speed he was anticipating and as such was unable to work forward to the position outside of the leader. Mr Williams further explained that he had relinquished his challenge for the position from the 800 meters as was left racing three wide for the remainder. Mr Williams attributed the beaten margin to his driving over the final 400 meters as he stated that his runner was no longer in contention and as such didn’t place the gelding under pressure over the concluding stages. Stewards noted his comments.
RUBY BABY NZ – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line approaching the 1100 meters.
ROCLEA RULER – Pre-race blood sample.
STANDANDELIVER – Driver J Chapple was issued a reprimand under rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that, when approaching the 200 meters he had permitted his runner to race onto the offside sulky wheel of PARATROUPER resulting in that runner sustaining contact and a puncture to the wheel. In not taking more severe action stewards were mindful of the relative inexperience of Mr Chapple.
RAINBOW JET – Driver A Varga was issued a reprimand under rule 170(1)(a) for allowing his right foot to drop below the foot rest leaving the 200 meters.
PARATROUPER – Approaching the 200 meters sustained a puncture to the offside sulky wheel.
RACE 9 – WESTS ENTERTAIMENT GROUP PACE – 1980 meters
UNSULLY – Pre-race blood sample. Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.
TABLE TALK – Post-race swab sample.
HAVEYOUMETDAISY – Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1700 meters.
RIPPIN GOOD FEELIN – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader passing the 1500 meters.
SAHARA JEWEL – Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.
LADY LAGERTHA NZ – Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.
ALWAYS BOPPING – Improved three wide from the 1300 meters until obtaining the position outside of the leader leaving the 1200 meters.
MONTANA NIGHTS – Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.
