RACE 1 – HYGAIN – SINCE 1983 MAIDEN PACE – 1980 metres

BABEROCK – Became unbalanced and broke gait shortly after the start was effected. In view of the mare’s recent record, connections were advised BABERROCK would be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

REDBANK CHARLOTTE – Commenced to weaken noticeably over the final 600 meters to be beaten 207.3 meters. Stewards questioned driver A Varga in relation to the performance of the mare. Mr Varga could not offer any explanation other than the mare wasn’t suited to racing outside of the leader and that he was disappointed with the overall performance. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities. In view of the mare’s recent record, REDBANK CHARLOTTE was stood down to one- re-qualifying trial.

COURAGEOUS PEGGY – During the first attempt to score up, the near side shaft had become entangled with the spreader and as a result of driver J Donovan indicating to the starter he had an issue, a false start was declared.  After considering the circumstances no further action was taken. Became unbalanced and broke gait shortly after the start was effected as a result, TABLE TALK was severely checked and raced roughly, whilst SEEMORE MAGIC was inconvenienced and had to be steadied at that stage of the event. Due to the mare having its first career start, connections were advised COURAGEOUS PEGGY would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

SEEMORE MAGIC – Inconvenienced briefly after the start and had to be steadied as a result of, COURAGEOUS PEGGY breaking gait at that stage of the event.

RACE 2 – HYGAIN – MICRSPEED PACE – 1980 metres

TRALEE MAXIE – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

RESOLUTE BAY – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader approaching the 1400 meters.

HEAR THE CALL NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRNSW’s welfare policy. No abnormalities were reported. Held up for clear running over the early stages of the run to the finish.

RACE 3 – HYGAIN – RELEASE PACE – 1609 metres

JUST TOMMY – The all clear was delayed to afford stewards an opportunity to review the start.  After review it was established that JUST TOMMY had broke gait after the start was effected and as a result ROSETTA SHANNON was hampered after the start. With such a view, the all clear was given on the judge’s numbers 2-9-1-3. A warning was issued.

MISTER GOLDENEYE – Post-race swab sample.

POWER TO BOLT – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line passing the 1200 meters.

PLAYBOY SHADOW – Approaching the 600 meters had a tendency to hang out for a short distance.

ROSETTA SHANNON – Hampered and had to be eased wider on the track after the start was effected, as a result of JUST TOMMY breaking gait.

JACKBKWIK – Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 4 – HYGAIN – TRACKTORQUE PACE – 1609 metres

SALS GLEE – Contacted marker pegs when rounding the first turn, as a result driver J Coney became unbalanced in the sulky and dropped her left below the foot rests for a short distance. Commenced to weaken over the final 500 meters to be beaten 96.8 meters. Stewards queried driver J Coney in relation to the performance of the mare, Ms Coney stated that leading into the event the mare had missed some work due to recent weather conditions however had not shown signs of lethargy and was confident of a competitive showing. Ms Coney further added that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages however became unresponsive towards urgings over the final 500 meters and was ultimately disappointed with the performance. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities. In view of the mare’s recent record, SALS GLEE was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.

RAMBUNCTIOUS –Had a tendency to hang in when approaching the first turn for a short distance.

HOIHO NZ – Post-race swab sample.

MEGA STAR – Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 5 – HYGAIN – RECUPERATE PACE – 1980 metres

KINGHT WALKER – Had a tendency to shift out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Post-race swab sample.

UNSULLY – Momentarily placed in restricted room after the start as a result of, UNCLE GREGORY hanging in at that stage of the event. Driver S Glasby pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that, when passing the 1400 meters when attempting to obtain the lead he had directed his runner down the track when insufficiently clear of MISS SERENDIPITY which was racing to the inside. As a result MISS SERENDIPITY was placed in restricted room, contacted marker pegs and had to be checked and raced roughly for a short distance, which in turn caused TOOTH ON A ROLL to be hampered momentarily. When assessing penalty consideration was given to, Mr Glasby’s plea, his overall driving record and the degree of interference. S Glasby’s license to drive in races was suspended for a period of ten days commencing on midnight 28/07/22.

UNCLE GREGORY – Had a tendency to hang in after the start as a result, UNSULLY was placed in restricted room momentarily.

TOOTH ON A ROLL – Passing the 1400 meters was hampered momentarily as a result of, MISS SERENDIPITY racing roughly at that stage of the event.

MISS SERENDIPITY – Passing the 1400 meters when racing to the inside of UNSULLY was placed in restricted room, contacted marker pegs and was subsequently checked and raced roughly for a short distance. Driver D Chapple was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that, when leaving the 1300 meters he had permitted his runner to shift wider on the track without the requisite clearance over NIGHT LIGHTS NZ which was obliged to ease wider on the track and was subsequently checked and broke gait. In not taking more severe action stewards were mindful of the acuity in which NIGHT LIGHTS NZ was working forward, in addition to the racing manners of both runners at that stage of the event. Hampered and lost momentum behind the tiring NIGHT LIGHTS NZ from the 600 meters to the 400 meters.

STILTON – Passing the 1100 meters was checked and broke gait as a result of, BOOKER BAY breaking gait, which in turn caused GETALOADATHISBRO to be checked and broke gait at that stage.

GETALOADATHISBRO – Passing the 1100 meters was checked and broke gait as a result of, STILTON breaking gait at that stage of the event.

NIGHT LIGHTS NZ – Leaving the 1300 meters was checked and broke gait as a result of, MISS SERENDIPITY shifting wider on the track at that stage. Improved three wide from the 1200 meters until obtaining the position outside of the leader approaching the 800 meters.

BOOKER BAY – Pre-race blood sample. Passing the 1100 meters was checked and broke gait as a result of, the tempo easing in front which in turn caused STILTON and GETALOADATHISBRO to be checked and broke gait.

RACE 6 – HYGAIN – PERFORMA 3 PACE – 1609 metres

RIPPIN GOOD FEELIN – Had a tendency to race roughly when rounding the final turn.

MARNI WHITE – Driver D Chapple was advised to exercise greater care in that, when passing the 150 meters he had allowed his runner to shift wider on the track and race inside the line of UPTOTRIX which was hampered briefly and had to be steadied away from the wheel of MARNI WHITE.

UPTOTRIX – Passing the 150 meters was hampered momentarily and had to be steadied away from MARNI WHITE which was shifting up the track at that stage.

DON’T TELL DOROTHY – Completed a pre-race warm up prior to competing.

SAHARA JEWEL –Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event prior to, restraining towards the rear of the field to obtain a position in the running line approaching the 1300 meters

SHANNONS SHADOW – Broke gait during the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued.

WELL THATS ALRIGHT – Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.

OUR ROYS DREAM – Pre-race blood sample.

SASSYS VC NZ – Improved three wide from the 1300 meters until obtaining the lead passing the 1200 meters. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 7 – HYGAIN – SUPER ANTI-OX WARATAH HEAT – 1609 meters

MADAME PELE – Approaching the first turn was placed in restricted room momentarily as a result of, ALWAYS BOPPING being taken down the track at that stage. Leaving the 600 meters veered out noticeably and severely checked RAINBOW JET taking that runner up the track whilst, ALWAYS BOPPING and MONTANA NIGHTS were checked and had to be eased wider at that stage. Stewards questioned driver D Chapple in relation to the racing manners of the mare. Mr Chapple reported that prior to, entering the back straight on the final occasion the tongue-tie had snapped and as such, the mare had managed to get its tongue over the bit. Mr Chapple added that from that point the mare proved to be extremely intractable. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities. After considering the circumstances, MADAME PELE was placed on its last chance to race truly.

ALWAYS BOPPING – Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the first turn was tightened for racing room by RAINBOW JET when that runner shifted in, and was taken into MADAME PELE resulting in ALWAYS BOPPING having to be checked. Approaching the 400 meters was checked and had to be eased wider on the track as a result of, MADAME PELE veering up the track at that stage.

RAINBOW JET – Driver J Donovan pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that, when approaching the first turn he had directed his runner to shift down the track when insufficiently clear of ALWAYS BOPPING as a result, ALWAYS BOPPING was tightened for racing room and subsequently checked which in turn caused MADAME PELE to be placed in restricted room for a short distance. When assessing penalty consideration was given to, Mr Donovan’s plea, his overall driving record and the degree of interference. J Donovan’s license to drive in races was suspended for a period of fourteen days commencing midnight 28/07/22. Severely checked from the 600 meters until the 400 meters as a result of, MADAME PELE veering out at that stage.

ROYAL ADMIRAL – Had a tendency to hang in at various stages and most significantly over the final 400 meters. After considering the recent record of the gelding, ROYAL ADMIRAL was placed on its last chance to race truly.

WESTERN RICKI – Post-race swab sample

MONTANA NIGHTS - Approaching the 400 meters was checked and had to be eased wider on the track as a result of, MADAME PELE veering up the track at that stage.

RACE 8 – NUTRITION@HYGAINFEEDS.COM.AU PACE – 1609 meters

ROLAMAX – Pre-race blood sample. Galloped away after the start was effected as result, caused ZOEMAGIC to be checked and broke gait. A warning was issued.

GLENN FORD NZ – Post-race swab sample.

THE NARRATOR – Approaching the 500 meters sustained a flat near side sulky wheel.

TEE RAVELLING – Driver M Elkins was issued a reprimand under rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that, when approaching the 500 meters he had failed to make the required effort to prevent TEE RAVELLING contacting and flattening the near side wheel of THE NARRATOR which in turn caused, TEE RAVELLING having to be checked and broke gait. In not taking more severe action stewards were mindful of where THE NARRATOR was positioned in the running line at that stage of the event.

ZOEMAGIC – Checked and broke gait after the start was effected as a result of, ROLAMAX galloping away after the start.

ROCKIN IN CHELSEA – Improved three wide from the 1300 meters until obtaining the position outside of the leader passing the 1100 meters.

RACE 9 – HYGAIN STARMAKER 3YO CLASSIC – 1980 meters

CUT GLASS NZ – Trainer M Callaghan was fined the sum of $50 under rule 268A(1) for failing to lodge a gear form for the gelding. Approaching the 1700 meters became unbalanced and broke gait as a result, severely checked and locked wheels with FLARE UP whilst, ROCLEA IMAGE was checked and broke gait, furthermore MAJIC MOMENT NZ, TREACHEROUS KISS and BEEFY BENSON were all checked and forced wider on the track. Leaving the 200 meters became unbalanced and broke gait on a second occasion. After considering the recent record of the gelding, CUT GLASS NZ was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.

JUST HOME GROWN NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

FLARE UP – Approaching the 1700 meters locked wheels with CUT GLASS NZ after that runner had broke gait as a result, FLARE UP was severely checked and subsequently retired out of the event. A post-race veterinary exam revealed a superficial laceration to the off-fore fetlock.

MAJIC MOMENT NZ – Approaching the 1700 meters was checked and forced wider on the track as a result of, CUT GLASS NZ breaking gait at that stage of the event. Stewards questioned driver T Ison in relation to the tactics adopted in the event, in particular from a point approaching the 1000 meters where he attempted to improve three wide. Mr Ison explained that during the middle stages of the second quarter he felt as though the tempo had eased at that stage and felt confident of being able to work forward to a more favourable position. Mr Ison added that when leaving the winning post on the final occasion he believed that a position closer to the marker pegs was no longer available and relinquished his challenge however, a position in the running line behind was no longer feasible given the duration of the race remaining and was left racing three wide for the remainder. Mr Ison stated that he was confident leading into the event following the filly’s recent form and that his runner did not replicate that in today’s event and was ultimately disappointed with his runner. A post-race veterinary exam failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards determined to note his comments.

ROCLEA IMAGE – Approaching the 1700 meters was checked and broke gait as a result of, CUT GLASS NZ breaking gait at that stage of the event.

TREACHEROUS KISS – Approaching the 1700 meters was checked and forced wider on the track as a result of, CUT GLASS NZ breaking gait at that stage of the event. Post-race swab sample.

BEEFY BENSON – Approaching the 1700 meters was checked and forced wider on the track as a result of, CUT GLASS NZ breaking gait at that stage of the event. Upon request from connections and in view of the colt’s recent record, BEEFY BENSON will now be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 10 – HYGAIN – FEEDING CHAMPIONS PACE – 1609 meters

STANDANDELIVER – Pre-race blood sample.

ROCKTAGONAL – Trainer D Elder was fined the sum of $50 under rule 135(1) for failing to present the gelding into the parade ring by the prescribed time.

IM COMPLIANT NZ – Had a tendency to over-race throughout the early and middle stages of the event.
