He said that after this he took IN THE PAPER from its position third on the marker pegs to race outside the leader, because in his opinion, IN THE PAPER which was racing with a gear change today without hopples, was best suited to being able to race at its own tempo and not being continually restrained and this was the reason that he continually attempted to obtain the lead. When questioned further in relation to the tactics adopted, B Elder said that after being hampered at the start when MEGA STAR restrained he was further back than intended, however the gelding travelled strongly at the rear of the field. He said that entering the back straight on the final occasion he was able to improve when racing behind SOMETHINGABOUTLEXY which went forward and he maintained that position until rounding the home turn when shifted wider and placed DOLLARSIGN under full pressure. She said that after this THE NARRATOR failed to travel and was constantly under pressure, then when asked for a finishing effort rounding the home turn, could not improve and ran to the finish moderately.
