STEWARDS REPORT FOR STAWELL

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 THANK YOU SPONSORS PACE (1785 MS)

Ellen Rixon, driver of Teddy Runkle was cautioned for failing to fulfill her allotted position by the candy pole.

Ellen Rixon, driver of Teddy Runkle was cautioned for allowing her right foot to slip from the sulky footrest in the home straight.

Jason Ainsworth, driver of Flaming Lucky was fined $100 under AHR Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in allowing that gelding to contact the offside sulky wheel of Aerodyne Guy soon after the start, resulting in that gelding sustaining a flat tyre.

RACE 2 PETER STILES BOOKMAKER PACE (1785 MS)

Zaras All Good pulled hard during the middle stages.

Alook To Like utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

Sam Barker, driver of Charisma King was cautioned for allowing his whip to project outside of the confines of his sulky in the home straight.

Chris Walsh, driver of Crime Boss was fined $200 under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the ship to the gelding with more than a wrist only flicking action in the home straight.

RACE 3 – THANK YOU STAWELL RDA MAIDEN PACE (1785 MS)

A warning was issued against the performance of Eastbro Dani which tired to be beaten 71m into last place.

Given the margins established by the placegetters, no action was taken against Coley which tired to be beaten 53m into 7th placing.

Stewards queried Ellen Rixon, driver of Goodtime Jessie ($1.65fav) which finished in 5th position beaten 26m.  Ms.Rixon stated that the filly wasn’t comfortable on the tight track.  Ms.Rixon added that Goodtime Jessie hung in during the score up and hung out after the start before hanging in and racing rough on the final turn. The explanation of Ms.Rixon was noted and a warning was issued against the manners of Goodtime Jessie in the score up.  Stewards will follow up on the recovery of the filly in the coming days.

RACE 4 – CHRIS N DI’S BAKERY MAIDEN PACE (1785 MS)

Follow The Eclipse hung in during the score up and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

A warning was issued against Mywaterlou which was fractious before the start.

A warning was issued against Wichita Kansas was out of position at the start.

Lets Go Cresco broke gait when clear of interference and has now been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Follow The Eclipse hung in at the 1100m.

La Mesh hung in and raced roughly at the 700m.

Rafatom broke gear (one legged spreader) approaching the 400m.

Loco Sheffield utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 5 – BI RITE STAWELL PACE (1785 MS)

Double The Hunter pulled hard during the middle stages.

Presidentialchange was held up for clear running on the final turn.

Stewards queried Josh Duggan, driver of Classicmajor ($14) which raced outside the leader before finishing in last place beaten 19m.  Mr.Duggan stated gear alterations were made following the most recent start however connections felt the gelding was disappointing today and would now revert to the previous gear.

RACE 6 – THANK YOU VOLUNTERRS TROT (2180 MS)

From The West paced and broke in the score up and was out of position when the start was affected.  The mare trailed the field and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

Majestic Pride failed to circle and paced and broke in the score up.  The mare was out of position when the start was affected and trailed the field.  Majestic Pride will continue to be placed right outside of the draw in future mobiles start events.

Mangana Joe gave ground from the 400m to be beaten 45m into 8th placing.

Stewards delayed the all clear on this event to view footage of the early part of the score up in relation to Blue Sparkler, driven by Matthew Cain.  After taking evidence from Mr.Cain and viewing all available video footage, it was established that Blue Sparkler was impeded in the early part of the score up by From The West which paced and broke.  As a result of the interference in the score up, Stewards were satisfied that Blue Sparkler was denied a fair start and in accordance with AHR Rule 15(1)(t) the gelding was declared a non-runner.

Jason Ainsworth, driver of Cheermeonimdancin pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 165(1)(b).  The particulars of the charge as the driver of Cheermeonimdancin,

Mr.Ainsworth allowed the gelding to shift in on the first turn while not 1m clear of extended front legs of Monsure Damour resulting in that gelding being tightened, forced inside marker pegs and ultimately contacting a marker peg and racing roughly and subsequently losing its rightful racing position.  Mr.Ainsworth had his licence to drive in races suspended for 2 weeks as of midnight 27 June 2022.  In assessing penalty, in accordance with the HRV Minimum Penalty Guidelines, Stewards took into account Mr.Ainsworth’s guilty plea, his good record under relevant rules and the degree of interference.

RACE 7 – GRAMPIANS EXCAVATIONS PACE (2180 MS)

Days End underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having had over 200 race starts. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Jayson Finniss, driver of Royal Speech was cautioned for careless driving for allowing his runner to contact the offside sulky wheel of Hot Deal at the 900m.  In not taking further action, Stewards noted that there was no flat tyre sustainded by Hot Deal.

RACE 8 – HYGAIN PACE (2180 MS)

Connor Clarke replaced Michael Bellman (dual engaged) as the driver of Bayside Victory.

Johnny Redcoat underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having had over 200 race starts. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

The start of this event was delayed to allow gear alterations to be made to Chicago Nights.  Shannon Edwards, trainer of Chicago Nights was fined $100 for presenting the mare to race with insecure gear.

Pre and post-race veterinary examinations were conducted on Irish Murphy under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding being over 12 years of age. Neither examination revealed any obvious abnormalities.

Shaded pulled hard during the middles stages when leading.

Irishmurphy was held up for clear running on the final turn.
