Race 1 -STU VALENTINE FOR BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE PACE            1780M

Rosarito (Chloe Butler) redrawn to commence outside the front line after incurring a recent mobile barrier start embargo.

Roses Are Sweet (Pete McMullen) inclined to hang out when leading the one wide line in the early stages. Driver Pete McMullen reported the filly had contacted its sulky wheel at various stages which may have contributed to the race behaviour. Connections were advised to take corrective measures.

Race 2 –DRIVER OF THE NIGHT BRENDAN BARNES PACE   2040M

Fortes In Fide (Brendan Barnes) lost 2 bell boots shortly after the start which may have placed the gelding at some disadvantage.

White Star Peejay (Adam Richardson) moved out three wide to commence a forward move at the 1200 metres and was unable to gain a more forward position which resulted in the gelding being restrained to the rear of the field. White Star Peejay tired in the concluding stages to finish in last position beaten 93 metres. Stewards directed the gelding undergo a veterinary inspection which revealed some soreness in the near hind. Stewards adopted the Vets recommendation that White Star Peggy not race for 7 days and further the gelding will be required to complete a satisfactory trial before racing again.

In Chevron We Trust NZ (Grant Dixon) caught three wide for the first 600 metres before working forward to gain the position outside the leader.

General

Matt Elkins (Johnrod) was questioned regarding his actions with his left hand on the final turn where it appeared the horses’ tail was in the vicinity of his left hand. Mr Elkins explained the gelding swished its tail and may have lodged its tail toward the left rein. After viewing the official footage Stewards gave Matt Elkins the benefit of the doubt and advised any intention to pull a tail from any driver would constitute a charge of improper driving and serious penalties would be applied.

Race 3 -POWER UP LAWN MOWERS PACE    1780M

Beau Hart (Phil Chappenden) caused a false start on the first attempt and will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts. Pulled hard throughout the race and tired in the concluding stages the finish in eighth position beaten 58 metres. Connections were advised the gelding would be placed on its last chance to race competitively.

Tori Be (Bradley Forge) performed poorly to finish in last position beaten 70 metres. Connections were advised the overall performance of Tori Be was below the standard required for licenced meetings and in view of the false start the mare was placed on its last chance to race competitively.

Race 4 - STEVIE REDBACK PEST CONTROL PACE    1780M

The Ragnbone Man (Shane Graham) got its head up and raced ungenerously when being restrained at the start and was caught three wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field. Driver Shane Graham explained he had some difficulty with visibility during the race.

Race 5 –GARRARD'S HORSE & HOUND PACE           1780M

Living Free (Shane Graham) shifted up the track significantly when leading at various stages of the race. Trainer Ben Crosby advised that the gelding hung in at its previous start and as a result made some gear changes by racing the gelding in a burr. Mr Crosby further advised Stewards he would be making further gear changes to enable the gelding to race more truly.

Torque In Control (Leonard Cain) failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

Jukebox Jet (David Stewart) held up for clear running in the concluding stages.

General

David Stewart (Jukebox Jet) was fined $200 under AHR rule 156 (2 (a) for engaging the shoulder and elbow when applying the whip in the concluding stages.

Race 6 -MAZDA ASPLEY 1 WIN PACE 1780M

Kase NZ (Angus Garrard) inconvenienced leaving the 400 metres when  momentarily engaged sulky wheels with As She Says which hung in.

As She Says (Chloe Butler) hung in at various stages and contacted marker pegs and a warning was issued. Hung in leaving the 400 metres and momentarily locked sulky wheels with Kase NZ.

Arkin Wicked (Grant Dixon) hung in during the score up and was slightly out of position when the start was affected, and a warning was issued.

Shezamaterialgirl (Noel Parrish) tired badly in the concluding stages to finish in seventh position beaten 106 metres. The filly was subsequently barred for a poor performance until such time it can requalify.

Swift Change (Nathan Dawson) tired badly in the concluding stages to finish in last position beaten 111 metres. The filly was subsequently barred for a poor performance until such time it can requalify.

General

Angus Garrard (Kase NZ) was fined $400 after pleading guilty to a charge under AHR rule 156 (2) (a) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip on entrance to the home straight.

Race 7 –HYGAIN FEEDS MAIDEN PACE          1780M

Always Be A Torque (Grant Dixon) slow to muster speed at the start.

Serengeti Gold (Bradley Forge) the gelding which was having its first race start was inclined to hang in at various stages and contacted marker pegs. Serengeti Gold tired in the concluding stages to finish in last position beaten 73 metres. Connections were advised of warning would be placed on the gelding’s overall race behaviour.

Race 8 - MEMBERS DRAW WINNER CHANTAL COPELAND PACE            1780M

Wonderwoman Jujon (Grant Dixon) broke in the early stages of the score up but was in position after being exerted by its driver. Connections were advised the mare would be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
