HRNSW Stewards undertook compliance checks regarding body protectors. Subsequently the following penalties were imposed:

  • J Gallagher – Rule 159A(8) - $250 - in possession of an unapproved body protector.
  • C Geary - Rule 159A(8) - $250 - in possession of an unapproved body protector.
  • J Callaghan - Rule 159A(8) - $400 - in possession of an unapproved body protector. J. Callaghan’s penalty was increased due to the fact that he had been penalised under 159A(7) for using an unapproved body protector at Bendigo on Friday 4 November 2022.
  • R Morris - Rule 159A(8) - $400 for having a modified body protector in his possession. Body protector confiscated.
  • S Grayling - Rule 159A(8) - $400 for having a modified body protector in his possession. Body protector confiscated.

The body protectors of J Gallagher, J Callaghan and C Geary were not permitted to be used at tonights meeting however, given the Viper 1 body protector is approved for alternative equine activities, they were returned to each Driver at the completion of the race meeting. Drivers J Gallagher, J Callaghan and C Geary were provided with a direction under Rule 187(3) in that a person shall comply with an order or direction given by the Stewards. Specifically, the Viper 1 body protector is not to be used, nor are they to have in their possession, a Viper 1 body protector when conducting or attending harness race activities on private or public Harness racing facilities.

 

RACE 1 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1720 metres

KEZZAMAC– Post-race swab sample.

BETTOR KEPPEL– Caught wide during the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.

HURRICANE STRIDE NZ– Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.

GENTLE GIANT NZ– Leaving the 1300 metres received contact from CROWN MOJO which was trailing. Subsequently post-race, Driver T Sutton was attended to by ambulance personnel who treated her for a shoulder injury. Driver T Sutton was advised that she would be stood down from race driving until a medical certificate of fitness.

DANCE AND DELIVER– Pre race blood sample.

CROWN MOJO– Pre-race blood sample. Over raced significantly in the early stages and leaving the 1300 metres. Raced up onto the back of GENTLE GIANT NZ making contact with the sulky of that runner. Connections were advised that CROWN MOJO would be placed on its last chance to race truly.

 

RACE 2 – DRAG BINGO @ CLUB PACEWAY NOV 12 PACE – 1720 metres

SUNSHINE KARAMEA– Pre-race blood sample. Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

THE POOBAH– Pre-race blood sample.

AD MAIORA– Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

SOUTHBOUND TRAIN NZ- Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

DELIGHT N GOLD NZ– Post-race swab sample.

TEAM OF STARZZZ- Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Broke gait in the early stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. In view of its recent good record a warning was issued.

FLYING PEGASUS- Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 3 – XTREME BULLS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND NOV 19 PACE – 2125 metres

FULL BROTHER– Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

MY BUZZ LIGHTNING NZ– Improved 3 wide during the middle stages to obtain the position outside of the leader near the 1000 metres.

TRUE CONFESSIONS– Pre-race blood sample.

REIGN MAKER– Raced 3 wide during the early stages before crossing to the position outside the leader near the 1700 metres.

BETTOR TO BE TRICKY NZ- Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

LAVAZZA NZ- Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 4 – LEISURE SHOW @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND NOV 25-27 PACE – 1720 metres

YOHA NZ– Pre-race blood sample.

TOP THE ACE– Passing the 1500 metres had to be checked away from ROCK NIEN which broke gait. Leaving the 300 metres raced in restricted room between UNCLE CHAN NZ which shifted out slightly and KATCHAR SHOOBEE.

VINCENT VAN GONE NZ– Caught wide during the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1100 metres.

THE MOUNTAIN– Pre-race blood sample.

UNCLE CHAN NZ– Leaving the 400 metres was hampered when MEGS MONARO failed to quicken and subsequently UNCLE CHAN NZ was disappointed for a run approaching the 300 metres. Near the 150 metres UNCLE CHAN NZ had to be steadied away from VINCENT VAN GONE NZ when attempting to improve between VINCENT VAN GONE NZ and MEGS MONARO.

ROCK NIEN– Approaching the 1500 metres hung out and shortly after became unbalanced and broke gait. Trainer P Russo explained that while it may be dependent on programming, it would be his intention to attempt to keep ROCK NIEN at tracks of larger circumference for the immediate future. A warning was placed on ROCK NIEN.

KATCHAR SHOOBEE– Leaving the 1500 metres had to be checked wider to avoid ROCK NIEN which broke gait.

LUCKY BEACH BOY– Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 5 – NATIONAL TROTGUIDE PACE – 1720 metres

OH DADDY– Pre-race blood sample. Shifted out slightly under pressure over the concluding stages.

MACH DADDY– Caught wide during the early stages.

JIMARTEE – Held up for clear running till passing the 100 metres when JIMARTEE was able to improve to the inside of OH DADDY which shifted out slightly. Post-race swab sample.

POPS BOY– In the first score up POPS BOY veered in causing multiple runners to be checked. A false start was declared. A warning was placed on POPS BOY. In the second score up POPS BOY was inclined to hung in and laid in after the start.

EL AGUILA– Caught wide during the early stages before working forward. EL AGUILA failed to run on over the concluding stages.

OLD LUKE NZ– Driver I Ross pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(3) in that she applied her whip to OLD LUKE NZ in an unapproved manner by using the whip continuously without allowing OLD LUKE NZ an opportunity to respond. I Ross was fined the sum of $200.

BACK IN TWENTY– Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 6 – MARKS KARAOKE @ CLUB PACEWAY NOV 26 PACE – 2125 metres

PHIL BROMAC NZ– Pre-race blood sample. Near the 150 metres was placed in restricted room momentarily when MITCHELLS RUN laid in.

MITCHELLS RUN– Passing the 150 metres laid in sharply however was immediately corrected by its Driver S Grayling.

BEAUTIFUL STRANGER– Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

SCOTLYNN JIGGS NZ- Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.

 

RACE 7 – MATES4HARNESS 2YO MAIDEN PACE - 1720 metres

HIGH ROLLIN DANCER– Pre-race blood sample.

MY STELLA ROSE– Leaving the 600 metres was inclined to hang out and was unable to maintain its position in the running line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Driver C Geary was unable to provide an explanation for the filly’s tractability and overall performance. A warning was issued.

DEEBO– Pre-race blood sample. Driver R Hunt pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that he applied his whip to DEEBO in more than a wrist only flicking motion over the final 200 metres. R Hunt was fined the sum of $200.  Post-race blood sample.

SMOKIN SLOY– Driver J Callaghan was questioned regarding the final 250 metres. J Callaghan explained that SMOKIN SLOY is inexperienced and when he is not surrounded by other runners he tends to switch off and proves difficult to drive. He added that approaching the 100 metres his runner did not respond to his driving and shifted in at the same time as FOR US ALL shifted out in front of him giving the appearance that his runner was held up for clear running. J Callaghan added that SMOKIN SLOY in his opinion was under pressure and was fully tested. J Callaghan’s explanation was noted.

 

RACE 8 – TAB VENUE MODE 3YO PACE – 1720 metres

SOLAR EXPRESS– Pre-race blood sample. Had difficulty securing clear running till passing the 100 metres. Post-race swab sample.

BEE OKAY– Unable to secure clear running in the latter stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.

CAPTAIN OF SPEED– Hung out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

MUSTANG MUSCLE– Pre-race blood sample. Slow to begin.

CALL ME GRINGO- Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.
