RACE 1 – ALLIED EXPRESS APP PACE – 2300 metres
DANCE FOR GLORY– Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.
JAZZY STAR NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Driver D Binskin was issued with a reprimand under Rule 160(2) for completing the preliminary in the incorrect direction. Near the 200 metres JAZZY STAR NZ had to be steadied and taken wider in order to improve to the outside of MAJOR JELLIS NZ which commenced to shift out under pressure. Shortly thereafter JAZZY STAR NZ was taken wider by that runner as it continued to shift ground. Post-race swab samples were obtained.
LETS GET ROCKIN– Leaving the 150 metres had to be steadied when taken out by JAZZYSTAR NZ.
CHEVRON ART NZ– Passing the 150 metres was inconvenienced by LETS GET ROCKIN which was taken out by JAZZY STAR NZ.
PUMP THE BRAKES– Near the 150 metres had to be steadied away from CHEVRON ART NZ which was taken wider by LETS GET ROCKIN.
MAJOR JELLIS NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Driver J Callaghan pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 162(1)(www) in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent MAJOR JELLIS NZ from shifting ground between the 250 metres and the 100 metres and subsequently JAZZY STAR NZ was impeded when that runner had improved to the outside of MAJOR JELLIS NZ. In assessing penalty consideration was given to J Callaghan’s overall record and the quantum of the shift. J Callaghan was fined the sum of $200.
RACE 2 – BEST IN BEDS CAMPBELLTOWN PACE – 1609 metres
KINGMAKER NZ– When questioned regarding the tactics employed in particular his decision to surrender the lead, driver J Callaghan explained that he was not afforded any firm instructions by connections. J Callaghan stated that after displaying gate speed and establishing the lead ALWAYS ROCKIN came with a solid challenge near the 1200 metres therefore he elected to trail that runner as he believed that ALWAYS ROCKIN would take him right into the race. J Callaghan added that KINGMAKER NZ was slowly regaining fitness after a spell and he expected that KINGMAKER NZ would improve as he moves further into his preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
GLENAVRIL KING– Held up for clear running until approaching the 100 metres at which point GLENAVRIL KING shifted out which caused WATCHMEDAZZLE to be placed in restricted room and subsequently that runner was unbalanced and had to be steadied. Driver C Hart was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference.
SO MUCH BETTOR– Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.
SMOOTH OVERARM NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Passing the 1400 metres had to be steadied off the back of WATCHMEDAZZLE due to the tempo of the running line slowing significantly.
LITTLE BLISS– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Driver R Morris was issued a reprimand under Rule 162(1)(u) in that approaching the 1400 metres when unsuccessfully challenging for the lead, he checked the speed in the running line resulting in WATCHMEDAZZLE being inconvenienced and SMOOTH OVERARM NZ being hampered. Post-race swab samples were obtained.
WATCHMEDAZZLE– Passing the 1400 metres had to be steadied and was hampered when the pace in the running line was checked by LITTLE BLISS. Passing the 100 metres was taken out by GLENAVRIL KING and placed in restricted room subsequently WATCHMEDAZZLE raced roughly.
RACE 3 – TANYIA HARRIS OAM BIRTHDAY PACE – 2300 metres
SURFERS DELIGHT NZ– When questioned regarding the tactics employed on SURFERS DELIGHT NZ driver R Morris explained that he was not afforded any firm instructions by trainer R Roots Jnr however he was of the understanding that connections would like to see SURFERS DELIGHT NZ attempt to lead or race forward in the field. He added that after being beaten for early speed, he found himself racing three back along the marker pegs and given that he was one of the favourite runners in the event he did not want to remain racing in this position. Therefore he elected to shift away from the marker pegs in the early stages. R Morris stated that approaching the 1600 metres he felt a significant slowing in the tempo by MYRA DAWN which was leading and he elected to shift out from the one out one back position to improve and issue a genuine challenge leaving the 1500 metres. R Morris said that he was surprised that MYRA DAWN had gone forward at the start and he was not expecting that runner to offer any resistance when challenged for the lead. He added that he had formed the view that MYRA DAWN had been racing with cover at its most recent starts therefore he continued with his challenge as he thought that driver A Turnbull may have been not genuine in her intent to hold the lead. He stated that near the 1300 metres he drew three quarters of a length forward of MYRADAWN but couldn’t quite cross. R Morris explained that after he challenged for approximately 250 metres he desisted and shortly after was able to obtain a position behind that runner. R Morris added that had SURFERS DELIGHT NZ been able to cross MYRA DAWN with relative ease in the early stages of the challenge SURFERS DELIGHT NZ would have afforded MYRA DAWN a favourable trail into the race and both runners would have finished closer than they subsequently did. R Morris’s explanation was noted.
THE ANNOUNCER NZ– Tired significantly over the concluding stages. When questioned trainer/driver D Cernovskis explained that THE ANNOUNCER NZ had not returned well from its spell and was racing below expectations. He added that the gelding would potentially be retired from racing however, in the immediate future, THE ANNOUNCER NZ would definitely be sent for another spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer/driver D Cernovskis was advised that THE ANNOUNCER NZ would be stood down for a period of 28 days.
WOW HES A ROCK STAR NZ- Driver B Fitzpatrick pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 162(1)(e) in that he scored up in barrier five when he was required to score up in barrier six. In assessing penalty consideration was given to the fact that B Fitzpatrick recognised the error himself some distance before the start and corrected his position immediately. B Fitzpatrick was fined the sum of $200. Post-race swab samples were obtained.
MYRA DAWN– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. When questioned regarding the tactics employed on MYRA DAWN driver A Turnbull explained that she was not afforded any instructions from connections. A Turnbull stated that shortly after the start it became apparent that the majority of the field had restrained off the mobile barrier which left her further forward than expected. Therefore, she decided to move forward underneath TINDER SURPRISE NZ and applied some vigour to MYRA DAWN in order to cross down as soon as possible. A Turnbull added that once she realised that THE ANNOUNCER NZ was leading the event she did believe that that runner would not maintain that position and with TINDER SURPRISE NZ to her outside she elected to press forward to cross THE ANNOUNCER NZ because she believed that had TINDER SURPRISE NZ led the event MYRA DAWN would have been left without cover. A Turnbull explained that once MYRA DAWN found the lead she steadied the tempo and the mare was racing comfortably. Then approaching the 1400 metres SURFERS DELIGHT NZ commenced a strong challenge and she immediately displayed some vigour to ensure driver R Morris was aware that it was her intention to maintain the lead on MYRA DAWN. A Turnbull said that it was her opinion that SURFERS DELIGHT NZ was never in a position to cross her runner particularly given that she was able to use the turn out of the home straight to gain some further momentum. A Turnbull added that although the tempo of the race increased significantly between the 1500 metres and the 1200 metres she believed that MYRA DAWN was very tough and would finish the race off well. A Turnbull explained that MYRA DAWN was down in grade tonight and had led and won multiple times during her career with her last two wins coming after leading over the middle distances. In addition, A Turnbull said that MYRA DAWN had also raced well when racing in the position outside of the leader and it was her opinion that MYRA DAWN is a tough one paced mare and once leading is difficult for other horses to pass her. A Turnbull added that with the addition of the longer distance she believed that MYRA DAWN was very confident particularly after getting a relatively easy lead prior to the challenge being issued by SURFERS DELIGHT NZ. A Turnbull explained that she was disappointed that SURFERS DELIGHT NZ persisted with the challenge for the distance in which it did as she believed that she had made her intentions clear. A Turnbull’s explanation was noted however she was advised that Stewards would undertake an examination of the wagering on this particular race.
RACE 4 – BETAVET LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres
SOVIET STUNNER NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Had difficulty securing clear running until passing the 100 metres.

RACE 6 – CLUB MENANGLE WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL (GROUP 3) – 1609 metres
DEFIANT– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Post-race swab samples were obtained.
UNFAZED NZ– When questioned regarding the performance of UNFAZED NZ driver B Fitzpatrick explained that the tempo never slowed at any stage and UNFAZED NZ did not get a chance to settle which was unsuitable. He added that the consistent hard runs racing without cover coupled with the fact that the gelding is now racing up in grade may also have contributed to UNFAZED’S NZ inability to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
FYNN FROST NZ– Broke gait at the start. A warning was issued.
RACE 7 – MCLAREN REAL ESTATE COMMERCIAL PACE – 1609 metres
KINGOFGLITTER– Held up for clear running and passing the 200 metres laid in and contacted marker pegs. The colt then was able to obtain an inside run when SHANTILLY shifted out under pressure approaching the 100 metres.
SHANTILLY– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Shifted out slightly over the concluding stages.
BLAZING HOME NZ– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Post-race swab samples were obtained.
RACE 8 – WARDS ACCOUNTING GROUP TROTTERS MOBILE – 2300 metres
FLASH KYVALLEY– Shortly after the start became unbalanced and broke gait. A warning was issued.
RIGHT MOVES– Broke gait at the start. A warning was issued.
PRINCESS FAITH– Leaving the 300 metres was held up for clear running and improved to the outside of SUNNY GEE shortly after that runner shifted out which caused PRINCESS FAITH to be placed in severely restricted racing room obliging it driver to check PRINCESS FAITH and subsequently lose its rightful running and all momentum at that point of the race.
AFFAIRE DE COVER– Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Carried a flat tyre from the 350 metres.
ROYAL GLENERRIE– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
ONE MAJIC KENNY NZ– Post-race swab samples were obtained.
SUNNY GEE– Driver J Gallagher was found guilty of a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that near the 200 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent SUNNY GEE from shifting out and continued to drive the gelding with his whip on the near side resulting in SUNNY GEE moving out and subsequently racing well inside of PRINCESS FAITH which had established running to its outside. In turn this caused that PRINCESS FAITH to be placed in severely restricted racing room, obliging its driver to check PRINCESS FAITH out of what was its rightful running and causing that runner to lose all momentum and significant ground. In assessing penalty consideration was given to J Gallagher’s overall driving record, his offence record, his plea and the consequential effect of the interference. J Gallagher had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 14 days. J Gallagher advised he would utilise the full nine day deferment available under NSW Local Rules.
RACE 9 – AINSWORTH A-STAR PACE – 1609 metres
HAS THE COURAGE– Broke gait in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
MARTY MAJOR– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
THE CHOREOGRAPHER– Driver K Morris pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) for applying her whip to THE CHOREOGRAPHER in more than a wrist only flicking motion between the 200 metres and the 100 meters. K Morris was fined the sum of $200.
