RACE 6 – HAYTERS TIMBER NARELLAN PACE – 1609 metres

HES CHIMING - Pre race blood samples were obtained. Improved three wide near the 1000 metres to obtain the lead shortly thereafter. Post race swab samples were obtained.

ALTA ORLANDO NZ– Driver J Callaghan was questioned regarding the tactics employed on ALTA ORLANDO NZ. In particular his decision to relinquish the lead near the 1000 metres. J Callaghan explained that he was not afforded any instructions by connections and it was always his intention to drive ALTA ORLANDO NZ forward with cover. He added that once he obtained the lead approaching the 1200 metres, he steadied the tempo in order to obtain cover off FIRE FOX NZ which was positioned outside of the leader. However that runner did not progress forward and it was HES CHIMING that improved near the 1000 metres. Therefore he restrained ALTA ORLANDO NZ to afford that runner to cross to the lead. He added that he was not concerned that HES CHIMING may relinquish the lead to FIRE FOX NZ as ALTA ORLANDO NZ had performed well racing three back along the marker pegs in similar races in the past. J Callaghan added that he elected to shift out near the 250 metres as there was an opportunity to do so. However, he had to steady his runner on the back of ZUESS BROMAC NZ until he felt there was sufficient room to position his runner into a clear run between ZUESS BROMAC NZ and WILDWEST NZ near the 150 metres. J Callaghan stated that with the benefit of hindsight he would have been better placed to remain racing on the marker pegs as HES CHIMING shifted out under pressure leaving the 200 metres which would have afforded ALTA ORLANDO NZ an unimpeded run to the finish. J Callaghan’s explanation was noted however he was advised that stewards held concerns as to his tactics in the early stages in particular his reluctance to try and maintain the lead or make HES CHIMING do some work to cross his runner to obtain the lead. Driver J Callaghan was issued with a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that near the 150 metres he permitted ALTA ORLANDO NZ to shift out when not clear of WILDWEST NZ resulting in that runner being placed in restricted room and having to be steadied.

ZEUSS BROMAC NZ– Pre race blood samples were obtained.

WILDWEST NZ– Near the 150 metres, placed in restricted room by ALTA ORLANDO NZ which shifted out and LOORRIM LAKE which shifted in marginally.

RACE 7 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS STATE FINAL (GROUP 1) – 2300 metres

DEFIANT - Pre race blood samples were obtained. Driver Peter McRae pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(3) in that he used his whip in an unapproved continuous manner over the final 250 metres which did not allow DEFIANT an opportunity to respond. Peter McRae was fined the sum of $400. Post race swab samples were obtained.

ROCKNROLL RUNA- Pre race blood samples were obtained. Shifted out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Driver J Painting pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(3) in that he used his whip on ROCKNROLL RUNA in an unapproved manner in that he applied his whip continuously without ROCKNROLL RUNA an opportunity to respond. J Painting was fined the sum of $400.

LYRICAL GENIUS- Pre race blood samples were obtained.

FAR OUT BRO- Pre race blood samples were obtained. Raced three wide during the middle stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader. When questioned regarding the performance of FAR OUT BRO driver Chris Geary explained that it was the intention of connections to have FAR OUT BRO driven close to the lead and given the early tempo he took the opportunity to improve his position to race outside of the leader. He added that FAR OUT BRO travelled well until near the 600 metres when the tempo increased at which point the horse failed to respond to his driving and weakened over the concluding stages. C Geary added that post race trainer A Ruggari indicated that he may look to freshen FAR OUT BRO up prior to its next start. Post race swab samples were obtained.

LETS GET ROCKIN- Pre race blood samples were obtained. Post race swab samples were obtained.

BALLERINI- Pre race blood samples were obtained. Wasn’t able to secure clear running in the latter stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.
