RACE 1 – PRYDE’S RACING CUBE 2YO TROTTERS SPRING SERIES MOBILE – 1609 metres

ALDEBARAN BREE– Out of position at the start for which a warning was issued. 

AQUILA CASTELLO– Pre-race blood sample.  Became unbalanced and galloped leaving the 100 metres whilst under pressure.  Stewards delayed the all clear to ascertain whether AQUILA CASTELLO had gained or maintained ground whilst in a gallop over the concluding stages.  Acting under the provisions of Rule 155(1) as it was determined that AQUILACASTELLO had originally maintained its ground the gelding was relegated from fifth to sixth position and the all clear given on the judge’s numbers.  It was further established that driver R Morris had met his obligations and as a result no further action was taken other than to issue AQUILA CASTELLO with a warning.

MIDNIGHT SECRET– Pre-race blood sample. 

SUGA DADDY– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1300 metres.

DREAMBIGAIMHIGH– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1150 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

ONE PINEVALE HILL– Out of position at the start and will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 2 – LENNYTHESHARK @ WINGATE FARM TROTTERS MOBILE – 2300 metres

SUGAR HIGH– Galloped out at the start for which a warning was issued.  Raced roughly approaching the 1100 metres.

HORSE OF COURSE NZ– Pre-race blood sample.  Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 800 metres for which the gelding was stood down until it completes two requalifying trials and for a period of 10 days.

TIGER TEE– Post-race swab sample.

DOWN UNDER RORS– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

FLORENCITA– Worked forward to obtain the lead leaving the 2000 metres.  Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 250 metres for which a warning was issued.

STRENGTH OF HEART NZ– Hung out in the home straight on the final occasion whilst under pressure for which a warning was issued.

SHOULD BEABARCA– Pre-race blood sample.  Out of position at the start for which the gelding will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

PRETTYLILANGUS– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1750 metres. 

 

RACE 3 – APG EXPERIENCE THE EXCITEMENT TROTTERS MOBILE – 2300 metres

IN THE VALLEY NZ– Became unbalanced and galloped shortly after start for which a warning was issued.

IVEGOTBILLS NZ– Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 800 metres for which the gelding was stood down until it completes two requalifying trials and for a period of 10 days.

RIGHT MOVES– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 2000 metres.

ALDEBARAN TESS NZ– Pre-race blood sample.  Unable to secure clear running until leaving the 200 metres when obtaining running to the outside of GUNNER.  Post-race swab sample.

LEAF STRIDE NZ– Out of position at the start for which the gelding will now be placed right outside the mobile barrier draw at trainer B Abbott’s request.

CRITTER BOY– Pre-race blood sample. 

 

RACE 4 – FARMER JOES CHICKEN PACE – 1609 metres

SWEET PARIS NZ– Broke the number two near side carrying strap shortly after the start.  The mare then paced roughly for a short distance after the start.

HALSEY NICOLE– Galloped out at the start for which the filly will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.  Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1300 metres.  Stewards questioned driver J Callaghan in relation to the performance of the filly when finishing in second position beaten 1.7 metres.  Mr Callaghan explained that after making the early error he was not dissappointed with the filly’s overall performance in today’s event.

SHIRLEY BROMAC NZ– Pre-race blood sample. 

EXPLOSIVE BRONSKI– Post-race swab sample.

CANONLYBEONESIR– Pre-race blood sample.  Trainer T Williams was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare D Morris as the driver by the prescribed time.  Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up and was out of position at the start for which a warning was issued.

ROSARITO ROCK– Trainer T Williams was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare K Morris as the driver by the prescribed time.  Became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start for which the mare was excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 5 – SOLO PACE – 1609 metres

YANKEE IDEAL– Pre-race blood sample.  Placed in restricted room between the 900 and 600 metres when RED TRIX was shifted down the track to its outside which took YANKEE IDEAL down towards the running of SIR SIMON.

CHANGE OF MIND– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

SIR SIMON– Tightened and contacted a number of marker pegs leaving the 900 metres and again approaching the 600 metres.

PARALLEL– Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

CLEMENTSORRELL– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. 

RED TRIX– Pre-race blood sample.  Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the lead approaching the 600 metres.  Driver J Callaghan was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that leaving the 900 metres and also approaching the 600 metres he has allowed RED TRIX to shift down the track when racing to the outside of YANKEE IDEAL and as a result YANKEE IDEAL was taken down the track towards the running of SIR SIMON causing that runner to be tightened and contact a number of marker pegs.  Post-race swab sample.  Will now be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 6 – BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL PACE – 1609 metres

JUMBO JIM– Pre-race blood sample. 

THATS ART– Pre-race blood sample.  A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse not having competed in the previous 12 months.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

NONE GRATER– Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

BOOMER ROCK– Post-race swab sample.

ISLAS JOY NZ– Unable to secure clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 7 – AINSWORTH GAME TECHNOLOGY LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres

CORAL STRIDE– Trainer B Abbott was fined $50 under rule 268A(1) for failing to lodge a gear form for the mare.

YEAH CHARLIE– Post-race swab sample.

ROCKNROSS SASS– Declared a late scratching at 2.21pm acting on veterinary advice.

TWILIGHT HEAVEN– Pre-race blood sample. 

THE MAHARANI NZ– Pre-race blood sample. 

 

RACE 8 – SUCCESS STUD EQUINE BREEDING PACE – 1609 metres

BLAZING BANNER NZ– Stewards questioned trainer/driver B Hewitt in relation to his decision surrender the lead passing the 1100 metres.  Mr Hewitt explained that in his opinion the gelding races best when driven with cover and saved for one run and noted that this would be the stable’s intention going forward when driven around the larger Menangle track.  Mr Hewitt explained that although being successful in his most recent run on 11 October 2022 whilst leading he did feel that was in a lesser grade of race and felt that his gelding was racing significantly up in grade in today’s event and therefore elected to take cover. 

TAKINGCAREOFBUSINESS NZ– Unable to secure clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

CATSEYE BEACH– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1100 metres.

LIGHTNING DAN– Post-race swab sample.

ROCLEA IMAGE– Pre-race blood sample. 

THE HUSTLER NZ– Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 9 – ALLIED EXPRESS APP PACE – 1609 metres

HAS THE COURAGE– Pre-race blood sample.

DOUBLE ENCOUNTER– Post-race swab sample.

PUMP THE BRAKES– Stewards questioned trainer/driver S Grayling regarding the below market expectation performance of the gelding ($2.60 fav) when being beaten 11 metres finishing in seventh position.  Mr Grayling explained that it had been some time since the gelding had led in its races and felt that today the gelding had over raced and as a result contacted its own sulky on a number of occasions which proved detrimental to his gelding’s chances over the concluding stages.  Stewards reported his comments.
