RACE 1 – RACING FOR PROSTATE CANCER TROTTERS STANDING START HANDICAP – 2300 metres

GENERAL– The official start time the race was amended to 1.22pm.

HORSE OF COURSE NZ– Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 700 metres for which the gelding was stood down until it completes two requalifying trials and for a period of 10 days.

UNIVERSAL PEGASUS– Worked forward to the lead approaching the 2000 metres.  Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 1100 metres for which a warning was issued.

MAJOR CREATION– Pre-race blood sample.  Over raced throughout the event before commencing to weaken from the 700 metres to be beaten 106 metres and finished in last position.  In view of the gelding’s disappointing performance was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

STRENGTH OF HEART NZ– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1500 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

KYVALLEY BOOMERANG– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

FLASHY SEB– Pre-race blood sample.  A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding not having competed in the previous 12 months.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Trainer R Alchin was fined $50 under rule 210 for failing to declare W Rixon as the driver by the prescribed time.  Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 1450 metres when being steadied wider on the track for which the gelding was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.  Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1100 metres.

 

RACE 2 – BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL PACE – 1609 metres

KILLARA FIREBALL– Pre-race blood sample.  Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres.

VINETTE– Trainer K Morris was fined $100 under rule 210 for failing to declare J Gallagher as the driver by the prescribed time. 

MUSTANG MUSCLE– Slow to begin and raced roughly after the start and then commenced to over race when positioned behind the leader.

FRANCO FORZA– Over raced throughout the event.  Driver P Green Jnr was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in that passing the 350 metres when shifting FRANCO FORZA wider on the track he placed JEFFCOATE in restricted room to the inside of OPERATIVE ANNA momentarily.  Post-race swab sample.

JEFFCOATE – Hampered passing the 350 metres when being placed in restricted room as a result of FRANCO FORZA shifting wider to its inside.

HIGHVIEW SADLER NZ– Pre-race blood sample.  A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

 

RACE 3 – TINTIN IN AMERICA @ WINGATE FARM PACE – 1609 metres

VOLANDO DENARION NZ– Trainers D & K McDowell were fined $50 under rule 210 for failing to declare J Bigeni as the driver by the prescribed time.

RICKOSHAY – Stewards questioned trainer/driver B Fitzpatrick in relation to the below market expectation performance ($2.80 fav) of the horse when failing to run on beaten 9.6 metres and finished in last position.  Mr Fitzpatrick explained that he was disappointed in the horse’s recent runs and felt that the horse was racing below its best and connections will now look to spell the horse at which time the horse will be gelded.  I view of the trainer’s comments RICKOSHAY was stood down for a period of 28 days.

KISSMELVIS– Pre-race blood sample. 

ITZ MAJOR RICH NZ– Trainer J Trainor was fined $50 under rule 210 for failing to declare J Brown as the driver by the prescribed time.  Post-race swab sample.

GLENAVRIL KING– Pre-race blood sample. 

 

RACE 4 – D M PLUMBING PACE – 1609 metres

CHANGE OF MIND– Pre-race blood sample.  A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

JAMBEROO ARK– Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up and as a result was out of position at the start for which a warning was issued. 

EXPLOSIVE BRONSKI– Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

JEDI MIND– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

SHEZA ROSE NZ– Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1200 metres.

 

RACE 5 – FARMER JOES A FAMILY BUSINESS PACE – 1609 metres

FRANCO LANDRY NZ– Pre-race blood sample. 

MASTER CATCH– Pre-race blood sample. 

ROYAL GAMBLE NZ– Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up and was out of position at the start for which a warning was issued.  Post-race swab sample.

MAJOR OBAHMA– Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.  Over raced throughout the event whilst positioned outside of the leader.

CAVIAR STAR NZ– Trainer B McCarthy was fined $50 under rule 210 for failing to declare C Geary as the driver by the prescribed time.

 

RACE 6 – HYLAND HARNESS GEAR PACE – 1609 metres

MINI MINE YET NZ– Post-race swab sample.

IM BILLS LAST NZ– Over raced when position outside of the leader.

HALLOWEEN– Pre-race blood sample. 

KENNY SAID– Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside of the leader passing the 1200 metres.

DONEDEAL– Pre-race blood sample.  Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1150 metres.

SHARK DANCER– Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 7 – WHAT THE HILL STANDING AT WOODLANDS STUD LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres

SPOT ON CHIC– Pre-race blood sample. 

RADIANT AMBER– Pre-race blood sample. 

SNEAK A PEEK NZ– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1150 metres.

POPSTAROMAR– Post-race swab sample.

RED TRIX– Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the lead passing the 950 metres.

 

RACE 8 – ALLIED EXPRESS TAXI TRUCK SERVICES PACE – 1609 metres

ATOMC STAR– Post-race swab sample.

SIX AGAIN– Pre-race blood sample. 

SOVIET STUNNER NZ– Pre-race blood sample. 

MISTER COLE– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1000 metres.  Over raced whilst leading.  Stewards questioned driver C Hart in relation to the racing manners of MISTER COLE.  Mr Hart explained that the gelding pulled hard during the score up and as a result commenced to race fiercely throughout the event. Mr Hart explained that MISTERCOLE was under pressure approaching the 400 metres and felt that this was as a result of the gelding’s racing manners.  Stewards noted his comments.

WATCHMEDAZZLE– Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight

until obtaining clear running inside the final 100 metres.  Driver D Binskin pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 159A(8) in that he had in his possession a safety vest that was not approved by Harness Racing Australia.  Mr Binskin was fined $250.
