RACE 1 – ACCESS SECURITY PROTECTION SERVICES TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609 metres

THE GOLD STANDARD NZ- Pre race blood samples were obtained. The all clear was delayed by stewards to afford them an opportunity to review an incident near the 200 metres. It was established that approaching the 200 metres TIGER TEE had hung out under pressure resulting in THE GOLD STANDARD NZ commencing to improve to the inside of that runner. Shortly after TIGER TEE was corrected by its driver and shifted in marginally resulting in THE GOLD STANDARD NZ racing inside the line of one marker peg. TIGER TEE then continued to shift out under pressure affording sufficient room for THE GOLD STANDARD NZ recommence racing outside the line of the marker pegs and fully improve to its inside. Stewards were satisfied there was initially a run that had developed to the inside of TIGER TEE for THE GOLD STANDARD NZ to attempt to take. Then it was not until TIGER TEE shifted in marginally that the potential run was unavailable. Therefore the all clear was given on the judge’s numbers of 10, 6, 7 and 2. Driver G McElhinney was issued with a reprimand under rule 163(2) and was reminded of his obligations to ensure that he must restrain his runner immediately if he finds himself racing inside the line of marker pegs at any stage and not just desist with the application of the whip.
