Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
A number of Trainers with runners engaged at tonight’s meeting had their stables inspected as part of the RWWA Compliance Assurance Activities.
Stewards approved the following driver changes:
Race 1 – SHE WANTS TO FLY – D. Egerton-Green (H. Reeves – Indisposed)
Race 8 – REBEL WITH A GRIN – C. McCallum (J. Suvaljko – Indisposed)
Race 9 – MISS SERENADE – C. McCallum (J. Suvaljko – Indisposed)
RACE 1 – ANDREW HASTIE SUPPORTING BYFORD 2YO WESTBRED MAIDEN PACE (2185MS)
TORREVEAN PINKY (D. Roberts) – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. In relation to REG LAWSON (S. Suvaljko) being tightened after the finish line, Driver D. Roberts was reminded of her obligations to ensure she is fully clear prior to shifting ground to improve into clear running in similar circumstances in future.
SHE WANTS TO FLY (D. Egerton-Green) – Commenced to give ground from the 600m to be beaten 105.8m. Due to the performance, Trainer Mr H. Reeves was advised the filly would be stood down for 6 days and until such time it completes one satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 2 – ANDREW HASTIE SUPPORTING WAROONA 3YO WESTBRED MAIDEN PACE (1684MS)
SYNCOPATION (E. Suvaljko) – Driver E. Suvaljko reported the filly raced roughly at various stages of the event. Hung outwards when being eased up the track by BOLD JACKIE (K. Harper) racing in the front straight on the final occasion and, as a result, SYNCOPATION locked wheels with PASTER TEDESCO (S. Suvaljko), which was improving to that runners outside. A warning was issued on SYNCOPATION in relation to its racing manner. As a result of this incident, DISPATCHER (A. Cortopassi) was inconvenienced.
Although Stewards deemed SYNCOPATION to be the major contributing factor to it and PASTER TEDESCO locking wheels, Driver K. Harper was reminded of his obligations in relation to the manner in which he eases out to improve his position in races in similar circumstances in future.
RACE 3 – ANDREW HASTIE SUPPORTING PINJARRA MAIDEN PACE (2185MS)
ALTAIR STAR (D. Egerton-Green) – Utilised the sprint lane in the home straight to win the event.
LAST MINI MINOR (H. Reeves) – Returned with a flat tyre which deflated during the event.
DELIGHTABLE NZ (D. Miller) – Raced roughly for a short distance after being inconvenienced when racing out of the back straight on the first occasion.
RACE 4 – ANDREW HASTIE SUPPORTING NORTH DANDALUP FILLIES & MARES PACE (2185MS)
BETTER THAN MINT (M. Ferguson) – Held up for clear running in the home straight.
RACE 5 – ANDREW HASTIE FEDERAL MEMBER FOR CANNING TROT (2185MS)
A false start was called by the official starter when SKY EAGLE (G. Johnson) commenced to pace in the latter stages of the score-up and broke gait.
NICKYS SON (N. Champion) – Following the false start being called, the gelding took charge of its driver before being assisted by a catcher. It then underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
The above incidents necessitated a delay to the start of this race of approximately seven minutes.
SUNNYS LITTLE ROSE (C. Lewis) – Broke gait racing out of the front straight on the first occasion. A warning was issued.
SKY EAGLE (G. Johnson) – Paced and broke gait in the later stages of the score-up, causing a false start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
LIGHTNING CALDER (B. Stanley) – Broke gait shortly after the start was effected. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
CHICAGO H NZ (G. Hall Jnr) – Broke gait racing in the back straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for 6 days and until the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
IM GAVOCHE (D. Chandler) – Checked to avoid a galloping runner racing out of the front straight on the first occasion. Gave ground from the vicinity of the 400m to be beaten 135m. A warning was issued in relation to the geldings uncompetitive performance and has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
LUVAFLAIR (D. Harper) – Inconvenienced when avoiding a galloping runner racing out of the front straight on the first occasion.
RACE 6 – ANDREW HASTIE SUPPORTING SERPENTINE / JARRAHDALE PACE (2185MS)
ZAC YOUR NOBODY was a late withdrawal by at 9.42am when Trainer Mr R. Woodley advised the gelding was lame in its off-fore. In relation to withdrawing ZAC YOUR NOBODY after 8.30am, Mr Woodley advised he had attempted to call the Stewards Office on multiple occasions prior to 8.30am, however was unable to contact anyone. Mr Woodley was advised that in the circumstances a 14 day penalty would apply to the gelding unless a veterinary certificate is produced and in future he is to ensure he phones the harness race department prior to 8.30am to scratch.
JAMIE KIM was a late withdrawal by Stewards at 2.02pm when Trainer Mr C. Suvaljko advised the gelding was lame in its off-fore due to a suspected hoof abscess. Mr Suvaljko was advised the gelding would be stood down for a period of 28 days unless a veterinary certificate is supplied.
METEOROID (E. Suvaljko) – Hung outwards and broke gait momentarily racing out of the front straight on the final occasion. A warning was issued on the gelding in relation to its racing manner.
AMERICAN DUTCHESS (S. Suvaljko) – Broke gait racing out of the back straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 13 days and until such time as the completion of 2 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 7 – ANDREW HASTIE SUPPORTING MUNDIJONG PACE (2185MS)
LUKE ATTACK (E. Suvaljko) – Broke gait shortly after the start was effected. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events. Broke gait racing in the front straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
TIGER BY THE TAIL (R. Warwick) – Utilised the sprint lane in the home straight to win the event.
RACE 8 – DON RANDALL MEMORIAL (G3) PACE (2631SS)
HES ROYAL BLUE (E. Johnson) – Raced roughly for a short distance after the start was effected.
LEAP OF FAITH NZ (G. Hall Jnr) – Galloped out as the start was effected. A warning was issued in relation to the mares standing start manners.
THE STARS ABOVE (M. Brown) – Raced roughly for a short distance after the start was effected.
REBEL WITH A GRIN NZ (C. McCallum) - Galloped out as the start was effected. A warning was issued in relation to the geldings standing start manners.
RACE 9 – ANDREW HASTIE SUPPORTING DWELLINGUP PACE (1684MS)
BEAT THE BANK was a late withdrawal by Stewards at 5:18pm acting on veterinary advice when the gelding underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its driver shortly after commencing its preliminary and was found to be lame in its near-fore. Trainer Mr P. Duggan was advised the gelding would be stood down for a period of 7 days and until such time a veterinary certificate if produced.
