Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
As part of the RWWA Compliance Assurance Activities a number of drivers were randomly selected to be subjected to urine drug testing which will be analysed for the presence of banned substances.
The sprint lane was in operation at today’s meeting.
RACE 1 – SLATER GARTRELL SPORTS 2YO PACE (2185MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 2 – PERTH CITY TYRES FILLIES & MARES PACE (1684MS)
Stewards approved a late driving change on MIDWIFE CALLING from Hayden Reeves to Deni Roberts due to personal reasons.
General: The reinspersons licence of Bill Hayes (SWEET SUZI) was suspended for a period of 12 days under R163(1)(a)(iii) after he had pleaded guilty to a charge of causing interference to HEART OF SAHARA (K. Symington) when shifting towards the one wide line approaching the turn out of the back straight, shortly after the start. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the excellent driving record of Mr Hayes, his plea of guilty and also the degree of carelessness and interference. IM BABY BELLE (G. Johnson) was also checked in the incident.
RACE 3 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE (2185MS)
ALTA HURRAH NZ (D. Egerton-Green) – Utilised the sprint lane to win the event.
RACE 4 – RENAISSANCE MAN BACK IN WA PACE (1684MS)
ALTA ALLURE (B. Archibald) – Reinsperson B. Archibald reprimanded under R162(1)(h) for failing to come into position approaching the start.
RACE 5 – RENAISSANCE MAN VALUE FOR MONEY PACE (2185MS)
GETN WIGGY WITHIT NZ (G. Hall Jnr) – Reinsperson G. Hall Jnr was reprimanded under R163(1)(c)(i) for entering the sprint lane marginally prior to the marker peg. Utilised the sprint lane to win the event.
RACE 6 – STABLE AFFAIRS PACE (2185MS)
The All Clear was delayed to allow Michael Brennan Trainer of second placegetter MISS LAMARR to view the official photo finish print. After viewing the print Mr Brennan was satisfied with the Judge’s decision.
BLOCKJORG (M. Young) – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare who was beaten 66m revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 7 – RURAL BUILDING CO PACE (2631SS)
A false start was called when MINOR CATASTROPHE reared and fell to the track as the barriers were released. MINOR CATASTROPHE underwent a Veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 4.10pm as had sustained a puncture wound to its offside knee, subsequently receiving treatment for the injury. Will continue to be excluded from the draw in future standing start events.
TINSELTOWN NZ (C. Voak) – Reinsperson C. Voak was fined $100 under R168(1)(a) for contacting and puncturing the offside sulky tyre of MISTER FORTUNIA NZ (A. Cortopassi) near the 300m.
RACE 8 – WA COUNTRY DERBY (G3) (2692MS)
ROCK ON TOP (A. De Campo) – After trailing BEEN SCOOTIN (K. Harper) was reluctant to enter the sprint lane and after entering the lane ran on strongly to be beaten by a nose.
RACE 9 – RETRAVISION TROT (2692MS)
ONE BID BUYS NZ (N. Johns) – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare which raced without cover and commenced to give ground over the final 800m being beaten 154m, revealed no abnormalities. Trainer N. Johns reported the mare had resented the dropped nose band and he will make alterations to the gear prior to starting again. He was advised a warning was issued in respect to the performance.
