Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
All engaged drivers at today’s meeting were subjected to rapid antigen tests being supervised by the Stewards prior to fulfilling their drives.
A number of stables were inspected, and runners examined prior to their respective races as part of R.W.W.A.’s race day compliance program.

RACE 1 – LATHER UP STANDING AT WOODLANDS STUD 2YO WESTBRED PACE (2185MS)
MISTER LINTON (S. Suvaljko) – Underwent a veterinary examination when arriving on-course and was found to have some filling in the off-foreleg. Acting on this advice, Stewards declared MISTER LINTON a late withdrawal at 12.35pm.
RACE 2 – SWEET LOU – BOOK FULL AND CLOSED 2022 3YO WESTBRED PACE (1684MS)
STEPPING WOLF (D. Egerton-Green) – Raced roughly during the score up. Began to give ground from the vicinity of the 400m to be beaten 61m. When questioned, driver D. Egerton-Green stated after beginning well he believed there may have been an opportunity to find the lead adding the gelding had performed well at the previous Northam start when gaining the lead. Mr Egerton-Green further stated he would have handed up to FOUR STARZZZ HAWK (L. Harper) however when this gelding continued to work forward to the lead and was obliged to race in the breeze for the remainder of the event. Stewards noted the comments.
VERDANSK QUEEN (M. Ferguson) – Broke gait free of interference when racing towards the back straight on the final occasion. Stood down from racing for 6 days and until such time as the successful completion of 1 re-qualifying trial.
RACE 3 – WOODLANDS STUD – BREED YOUR NEXT STAR WITH US PACE (2185MS)
General: This event commenced approximately 2 minutes after the scheduled starting time owing to MACHS BETTOR (K. Symington) requiring a gear alteration.
RACE 4 – BILL HARRIS MEMORIAL TROT (2116SS)
General: This event commenced approximately 7 minutes after the scheduled starting time owing to a false start being declared following the 40m strand failing to release.
SWANHILL NZ (F. Bennett) – Delayed the start at the second attempt to begin the event when failing to come into position despite the efforts of the driver. Will continue to be drawn wide in future Standing Start events.
ELISH STAR (L. Harper) – Began badly. Will continue to be drawn wide in future Standing Start events.
STAY FOCUSED (E. Suvaljko) – The lugging pole became detached during the event.
RACE 5 – AMERICAN IDEAL – THE CUPS KING PACE (2185MS)
BITOFDUTCHCOURAGE (K. Prentice) – Driver K. Prentice was reprimanded under the provisions of rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip in more than a wrist only flicking motion.
IM DRINKINGDOUBLES (M. Miller) – Began to give ground from the vicinity of the 400m to be beaten 100m. Owing to the poor performance, the gelding was stood down from racing for 6 days and until such time as the successful completion of 1 re-qualifying trial.
FRANCO WESTERN (N. Turvey) – Placed back in the draw for future Mobile Barrier events.
RACE 6 – DOWNBYTHESEASIDE – CATCH THE NEXT WAVE PACE (1684MS)
BENJI NZ (N. Turvey) – Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.
BETTOR MOVE ALONG (T. Wheeler) – Held up for clear running in the home straight.
RACE 7 – BETTORS DELIGHT – THE KING RETURNS PACE (2185MS)
THE NOTORIOUS ONE NZ (C. Suvaljko) – Had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages of the event.
ROCKNROLL ELLIOT (C. Lewis) – Driver C. Lewis reported the gelding displaced a shin boot during the event.
LITTLE BITOF FUN (K. Harper) – Had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages of the event.
RACE 8 – WHAT THE HILL – GROUP 1 WINNIING SIRE PACE (2116SS)
SIPPINONJACK NZ (K. Harper) – Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.
OVER ARMED (E. Suvaljko) – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
OUR SHOOTING STAR (S. Suvaljko) – Tired over the concluding stages. Trainer R. Olivieri expressed disappointment with the performance and stated the mare will be retired from future racing.
PONTEVIVO (K. Young) – Galloped out when the start was effected. Will be placed outside the draw in future Standing Start events.
FLYING MISTER IDEAL NZ (A. De Campo) – Galloped out when the start was effected. A warning was issued on the geldings Standing Start manners.
RACE 9 – LATHER UP – THE EQUAL FASTEST HORSE IN HISTORY PACE (2185MS)
BROOKLAND BOY (B. Hayes) – Pulled hard during the score up.
