RACE 1 – CRANWELL JACK TROT (2631SS)
Stewards held up all clear to review the race manner of GOODTIME PE RABBIT (S. Suvaljko) which galloped in the early stages of the event losing considerable ground and when distanced, paced for the majority of the race. GOODTIME PE RABBIT was disqualified under R154(2) for not racing in the correct gait. Driver S. Suvaljko was reprimanded under R154(2) for failing to make every endeavour to ensure the gelding was racing in its correct gait. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that the gelding had been distanced from the field when changing gait, however Driver S. Suvaljko was advised of his obligations in similar circumstances.
The All Clear was further delayed allowing Stewards an opportunity to review the final stages of the event regarding third placed ALDEBARAN SUNDOWN (N. Johns) breaking gait prior to the finishing line. As stewards were satisfied that the gelding gained no advantage that would warrant any adjustments to the placings, the all-clear was announced.
