Track: Good – Sprint lane in operation
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
All engaged drivers at today’s meeting were subjected to rapid antigen tests being supervised by the Stewards prior to fulfilling their drives.
As part of the RWWA Compliance Assurance Activities a number of drivers were randomly selected to be subjected for breathalyser testing.
RACE 1 – ROCKINGHAM RAM 1500 ALL NEW DT RANGE 2YO PACE (1684MS)
FESS UP NZ (R. Warwick) – Veered inwards mid-way in the score-up and checked LADY VIOLETTA (G. Hall Jnr). Raced greenly at various stages of the race.
BRONZED (N. Turvey) – Hung outwards in the front straight over the final stages and finished extremely wide on the track. Trainer Mr M. Williams advised he will be effecting gear change for the next start.
RACE 2 – ROCKINGHAM RAM ALL NEW 2500 LARAMIE 3YO FILLIES PREFERRED PACE (2185MS)
SCARLET RIBBON NZ (G. Hall Jnr) – Shifted ground up the track shortly after the start and IMA TINY DANCER (D. Roberts) who was steadied by its driver in consequence hung in and contacted the offside sulky wheel of SCARLET RIBBON NZ and broke gait. IMA TINY DANCER will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
RACE 3 – ROCKINGHAM RAM 1500 WARLOCK 2 PACE (1684MS)
LOUIE THE LIP NZ (G. Hall Jnr) – Broke gait on two occasions free of interference, will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 4 – ROCKINGHAM RAM 1500 TRX COMING SOON FILLIES & MARES PACE (2185MS)
A false start was declared when IDEAL IVANA (D. Miller) broke gait in the latter stages of the score-up and checked runners on the second line. Permission was given for the murphy blind to be removed. IDEAL IVANA will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
RACE 5 – TABTOUCH PACE (2185MS)
GALVINSTON JOHN (H. Charles) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which commenced to give ground near the 600m revealed the gelding had over-raced and choked down. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
TA IN ADVANCE (K. Hayter) – When questioned in regard to the driving tactics, Trainer/Driver K. Hayter advised he elected to restrain early as he didn’t consider from the barrier he could obtain a forward position. Further he didn’t believe that going wide in the backstraight was an option therefore he remained in the three wide line and looked for an inside run.
RACE 6 – ROCKINGHAM RAM PHRC WINTER CUP PACE (2185MS)
ADDA SPOILT MAJOR (K. Symington) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which lead the one wide line and over-raced as it contacted its sulky wheels revealed an elevated heart rate. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 7 – STAWA TABTOUCH TROTTERS CUP TROT (2631SS)
WESTLAND PEAK NZ (F. Bennett) – Reared and swung sideways as the start was effected. At the Trainers request the mare will be placed outside the draw in future standing start events.
RACE 8 – ROCKINGHAM RAM ALL NEW 3500 LARAMIE PACE (2116SS)
JILL MACH (R. Young) – Reinsperson R. Young was reprimanded under R163(1)(a)(i) for when crossing DISCO SPIRIT (T. Wheeler) leaving the winning post shortly after the start, allowed minimal racing room only.
