Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
All engaged drivers at today’s meeting were subjected to rapid antigen tests being supervised by the Stewards prior to fulfilling their drives.

RACE 1 – NIGEL JOHNS TROT (2116SS)
A false start was declared when the starter realised CHICAGO H NZ (G. Hall Jnr) was not facing the barrier as the start was called.
CHICAGO H NZ (G. Hall Jnr) – Broke gait on two occasions free of interference. Placed on it’s last chance to race truly. Trainer M. Young advised the horse will be gelded and sent for a spell.
RACE 2 – KEVIN JEAVONS 3YO FILLIES PREFERRED PACE (2185MS)
MISS SUZI QUE (C. Lewis) – Hung inwards after the start and was restrained to the rear to take up a position.
GOLDEN MOVE (S. Suvaljko) – Reinsperson S. Suvaljko reported that the tongue tie snapped with a lap to run and thereafter he had problems restraining the filly and racing in the home straight on the run to the finish contacted the sulky of MISS SUZI QUE (C. Lewis).
LILLYROSE (L. Harper) – Reinsperson L. Harper reported he had difficulty in utilising the removable deafeners over the final stages of the race.
RACE 3 – ROBERT FERRY PACE (2185MS)
BITOFDUTCHCOURAGE (M. Miller) – Reinsperson M. Miller reported that the rein burr used on the off-side became detached racing in the back straight on the first occasion and consequently shifted ground up the track in the run to the finish.
CLASSNSMART (D. Suvaljko) – Reinsperson D. Suvaljko was reprimanded under R52(5) for failing to return and give the All Clear as CLASSNSMART had placed 5th in the event.
RACE 4 – KEITH LISTER FILLIES & MARES PACE (2185MS)
SHIKIRA BLUE was a late scratching @ 12.13pm due to a float mishap on the way to the track with SHIKIRA BLUE receiving lacerations.
STAR FOR ME (T. Wheeler) – When questioned as to why he had not moved to the outside of BATAVIA STREAMLINE (A. De Campo) near the 450m. Reinsperson T. Wheeler stated that he felt at that point GO WIDGIE (E. Suvaljko) was also looking to move wider, therefore he did move around BATAVIA STREAMLINE until entering the front straight. Reinsperson T. Wheeler agreed with the Stewards assessment that in hindsight he may have erred in not improving a little earlier.
RACE 5 – CHRIS CARROLL PACE (2185MS)
GALACTIC RULER (C. Voak) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which had commenced to give ground near the 450m to be beaten 130m, revealed a slightly elevated heart rate. Trainer G. Cox was advised the gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial. Mr Cox advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
General: The offside sulky wheel tyre of BETTER MOVE ALONG (T. Wheeler) deflated after the finish of the race and consequently T. Wheeler did not return to the all-clear Steward.
RACE 6 – CLIFF DAWSON PACE (2185MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 7 – FRANK NAFRANEC CONDITIONED PACE (2185MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 8 – RAYMOND ASHBY PACE (2116SS)
A false start was declared when the front-line barrier tape contacted JILL MACH (M. Young), disadvantaging this runner.
The All Clear was delayed whilst Stewards viewed vision of the start. Stewards after viewing the vision declared BETTOR MY DREAMZ NZ a non-runner as it had not been facing the barrier when the start was effected.
RACE 9 –PHOTOGRAPHY BY JODIE 0400 491 758 PACE (1684MS)
THE RUNNING CAMEL was a late withdrawal at 11.03am due to be being off feed.
FOUR STARZZZ HAWK (L. Harper) – Raced roughly momentarily when crossing AMAZING AMERICAN (A. De Campo) shortly after the start with AMAZING AMERICAN having to be eased and raced inside a marker peg.
LAST MINI MINOR (D. Miller) – Raced without cover and commenced to give ground near the 500m inconveniencing THE DUBLIN XPRESS (M. Miller) and MATA OLE LE AFA (K. Elliott). A post-race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
