RACE 1 – GOOZDOLPHIN RACING MAIDEN MUSTER PACE – 1609 metres

SHADOW SHARK– Pre-race sample was taken.

PRETTY TREACHEROUS– Slow away as the start was affected and had a tendency to race roughly at various stages of the event.

MYKINDOFFEELING– Post-race sample was taken.  

SPUNKYS PLAYING UP– Had a tendency to hang out at various stages of the event.

BETTERTHANKYLIE– Broke stride in the early stages of the score up and was out of position as the start was affected.  Given its limited experience stewards asked it to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

MOONLIGHT CRUISER– Stewards gave approval for it to be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

JACKEROO SHANNON– Hampered shortly after the start was affected.

 

RACE 2 – THE FEATURE SWEEPSTAKES PACE – 1609 metres

WAT A FEELING NZ– Post-race sample was taken.  

TAHLIAS ART– Pre-race sample was taken.

MANHATTAN LASS– Stewards queried driver R Morris in relation to the tactics and overall performance with the filly.  R Morris explained that it was the intention to take a trail on TAKEME TOTHE BEACH as he felt it had superior speed in the early stages of the event which did occur.  He further added that in this slowly run event begun to be under somewhat pressure racing down the back straight on the final occasion and rounding the turn was off the bit and did not feel it was suitable to move wider at that point.  He further added that as TAHLIAS ART raced to its outside he was not in a position or travelling well enough in his opinion to manoeuvre that runner wider and when presented with clear running over the concluding stages was disappointing.

THE MOVEMENT– Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

FRAME DRIVE– Broke stride shortly after the start was affected.  A warning was issued.  Had a tendency to hang in throughout the event and more severely rounding the final turn resulting in contacting marker pegs.

HAPPY AS– Driver J Brown was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position prior to the start being affected.

 

RACE 3 – CUBBONS AUSSIE TOUR PACE – 2030 metres

JAYTEES HAT– Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  Driver B Hughes could not offer any suitable explanation for the performance.  Connections were advised it would be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.

ROBYN TAYLOR– Commenced to weaken from the 1000 metres to be beaten a considerable distance.  A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities.  Driver B Greenwood could not offer any suitable explanation for the performance.  Connections were advised it would be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.

TACKAS LAST DANCE– Pre-race sample was taken.  Had a tendency to shift in whilst under pressure over the concluding stages.

NELLY BIGTIME– Fractious in the early stages of the score up.  Had a tendency to over race through the middle stages of the event whilst leading.  Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.  A post-race examination could not reveal any abnormalities.  Driver M Formosa explained that it was the intention to take cover from GIMME A REASON when presented however as it raced roughly elected to hold and from that point over raced which was to the runner’s detriment.  M Formosa further explained that he would look to keep racing over the short course mile racing.  Stewards issued a warning against the performance.

IM BOO NZ– Post-race sample was taken. 

GIMME A REASON– Raced roughly racing into the back straight on the first occasion and again when attempting to cross down to the lead position. Connections were advised It  would be placed on its last chance to race truly.

 

RACE 4 – GROSVENOR TRAVELLERS PACE – 1609 metres

WINAMOTZA– Checked as the field negotiated the first turn.

MIDNIGHT QUEEN– At the second attempt at a score up broke stride and checked the running of TIGER TOMMY NZ resulting in a false start being declared.  A warning was issued.  Broke stride as the field negotiated the first turn.  A warning was issued.

BONUS BET– Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.  

DREAMY CASTAFIORE– Had a tendency to hang out throughout the early stages at the first attempt at a score up then broke stride checking the running of SWEET CHAPPY LOU resulting in a false start being declared.  Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

SWEET CHAPPY LOU– Engaged in a jostle with YARRAMAN MARKLE inside the final 100 metres.

YARRAMAN MARKLE– Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn.  Engaged in a jostle with SWEET CHAPPY LOU inside the final 100 metres and when attempting to shift wider and gain clear running however lost its advantage and as a result was checked and raced roughly.  Drivers M Chapple and J Gallagher were advised to take greater care in similar circumstances.

 

RACE 5 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1609 metres

TIPPING POINT– Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish and hampered when racing up onto the back of CASUAL RIVER which had commenced to weaken.  Stewards queried driver J Gallagher in relation to the tactics adopted in relation to the final 600 metres. J Gallagher advised that when racing in a position back in the field elected to attempted to shift to the inside of COLBY ART as he felt that his runner would have not been able to maintain a sustained sprint from leaving the back straight as he would have been forced wide on the track. He further added that when rounding the final turn and moving up  to the inside of JEFFCOATE raced up onto the back of CASUAL RIVER which was weakening and as a result was hampered. Moving into the home straight again was disappoint for a run when to the outside of JOGALONG BLUE and was held up over the concluding stages of the event. Stewards noted his comments.

MISS SERENDIPITY– Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.  

JOGALONG BLUE– Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

THE GOVERNESS NZ– Out of position as the start was affected as a result of hanging out.  Connections were advised it will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

CASUAL RIVER– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

 

RACE 6 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1609 metres

CASHE EM IN SHANNON– Driver B Hughes was fined the sum of $100 under Rule 163(1)(c)(i) in that when closing down the track inside the final 150 metres when to the inside of GHOSTLY COURAGE contacted a marker peg when there was insufficient room for his runner to progress through.

DRAGON TATTOO NZ– Broke stride in the early stages of the score up then broke stride shortly after the start was affected when attempting to buck.  Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

GHOSTLY COURAGE– Post-race sample was taken.  

HOIHO NZ– Pre-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 7 – CHRISTMAS PARTIES @ THE PACEWAY PACE – 2030 metres

ELECTRIC EYE– Post-race sample was taken.  

CLOUDIN UP– Pre-race sample was taken. 

IM ROCKIN IT– Stewards queried driver R Morris in relation to the performance.  R Morris explained that after gaining position in the running line in the early stages of the event was happy with the tempo with SHAME TO FAME racing outside of the leader keeping the tempo quite genuine throughout.  He further added that his runner did have a tendency to over race throughout the middle stages of the event and when asked for an effort with CLOUDIN UP presenting three wide attempted to follow that runner however it was left somewhat flat footed and disappointing over the concluding stages.  Stewards noted his comments.

 

RACE 8 – MATES4HARNESS PACE – 1609 metres

MAN FROM BRAAVOS– Post-race sample was taken.  

BETTOR TO BE TRICKY NZ– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

ONE REASON– Stewards queried driver J Callaghan in relation to the tactics adopted.  J Callaghan advised that it was instructions from trainer R Roots Jnr for his runner to be driven forward then take cover from BETTERTHANFEDERER in the early stages of the event As it was early in its preparation.  Trainer R Roots Jnr confirmed these instructions.  R Roots Jnr further explained that he thought is runner would have superior speed in the early stages of the event to find the marker pegs however given its early in its preparation believed its best chance in the event would be to take cover.  Stewards noted their comments and left the matter open to review wagering information into the event.

IM QUICK AS FIRE NZ– Pre-race sample was taken.  IM QUICK AS FIRE NZ which was an RODM horse was reverted back to ODM.
