RACE 1 – TAB APP MAIDEN PACE – 1609 metres

CRACKER BARREL– A post race veterinary examination revealed it to be somewhat distressed, post race and possibly incubating a virus. Upon advice from the veterinarian was stood down for a period of 7 days after receiving treatment.

SHE MAYBE BETTOR– Pre race sample was taken.

SWEET CHAPPY LOU– Raced roughly in the latter stages of the score up and was out of position as the start was effected. A warning was issued. Driver G Chapple dropped his left foot from the sulky rest prior to entering the home straight for the run to the finish when attempting to activate gear.

PRINCE LOUI– Post race sample was taken.

 

RACE 2 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE – 1609 metres

WARATAH WATTLE – Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerably distance. A post race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities. Driver J Taaffe could not offer any suitable explanation for the performance and connections were advised it would be stood down until it can re – qualify on one occasion.

JAYTEES HAT– Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance. A post race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities. Driver M Taylor advised that after being obliged to restrain to the rear of the field in the early stages, failed to travel at any point and was somewhat disappointing. Connections were advised it would be stood down until it can re – qualify on one occasion.

OUR BUSHWACKER– Was examined pre and post race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. Was fractious by way of rearing in the early stages of the score up.

CLOUDIN UP– Pre race sample was taken. Was crowded for racing room when entering the first turn and raced roughly for a short distance. Post race sample was taken.

 

RACE 3 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1609 metres

JACAKROO SHANNON – Was held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

CASUAL RIVER– Was examined pre and post race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

RINTIN– Sustained contact to its off side wheel prior to entering the home straight for the run to the finish.

CLASSIC ARC– Was caught wide in the early stages of the event and obliged to race wide for the majority of the event. Stewards questioned driver J Hughes in relation to the tactics. Driver J Hughes explained it was the intention for it to be driven forward in the event today however was left racing wide in the early stages, attempted for the position outside of the leader for which he was unsuccessful. He further added that given the distance remaining in the event, elected to take hold but remain racing three wide and battled on fairly over the concluding stages. Stewards noted his comments.

SULTAN FELLA– Post race sample was taken.

TOINFINITYNBEYOND - Pre race sample was taken. Driver R Atkins pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 168(1)(a) in that prior to entering the home straight for the run to finish attempted a run to the outside of RINTIN and in doing so contacted the off side wheel and as a result broke stride. Driver R Atkins licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 7 days. When considering penalty stewards took into account his good record in relation to the rule.

HEAR THE CALL– Was examined pre and post race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. Upon request from connections approval was given for the gelding to be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

CAN CAN DANCER– Broke stride in the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued. Was hampered as the field entered the home straight for the run to the finish.

 

RACE 4 – SKY SPORTS RADIO PACE – 1609 metres

LURKING– Galloped away as the start was effected. A warning was issued.

CUSTOM NIKE– Pre race sample was taken. Had a tendency to hang in rounding the final turn. Stewards queried driver J Callaghan in relation to the performance. Driver J Callaghan advised that it travelled well throughout the event however when under pressure rounding the final turn had a tendency to hang in and was somewhat disappointing over the concluding stages. He further added he would recommend to connections some gear alterations moving forward.

BLUE SUEDE ROCKA– Post race sample was taken.

ROBYN TAYLOR– Was held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

VALOUR DICTUM– Was hampered shortly after the start was effected.

STUDLEIGH ROWSY– Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event and weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance. A warning was issued.

 

RACE 5 – NEWCASTLE HERALD PACE – 2030 metres

DANCE WITH SUE- Pre race sample was taken. Post race sample was taken. 

 

RACE 6 – WHO PRINTING PACE – 1609 metres

MAN FROM BRAAVOS- Post race sample was taken.

OH DADDY– Was held up for clear running in the latter stages of the run to the finish. PIKARSO - Pre race sample was taken. Broke stride shortly after the start was effected. A warning was issued.

BETTORS POCKET NZ– Was held up for clear running in the latter stages of the run to the finish.

 

RACE 7 – MATES 4 HARNESS PACE – 1609 metres

SIR RICHARD LEE - Post race sample was taken.

SPUNKYS PLAYING UP– Was hampered as the field left the back straight when trailing weakening runners.

BEAUTIFUL STRANGER– Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

LADY LAGERTHA NZ– Driver J Hughes was reprimanded under rule 170(1)(a) in that when rounding the final turn had his foot drift from the sulky foot rest for some distance when attempting to activate gear.

BREXITT– Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

IDEAL SPORTS GIRL NZ – Was held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish before obtaining inside running and was successful. Post race sample was taken.

CHEVRONS BYPASS NZ– Stewards queried driver B Hughes in relation to the performance and the reasons for drifting wider in the home straight inside the final 100 metres. Driver B Hughes explained that making some use of his drive in the early stages of the event was pressured and over the concluding stages was left somewhat flat and had a tendency to shift ground up the track when under pressure. Stewards noted his comments.

TWILIGHT HEAVEN – Galloped away as the start was effected. A warning was issued.

MONEY HONEY NZ- Pre race sample was taken. Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up shifting up the track and checking the running of ROCKNROLL MAMA NZ resulting in a false start being declared. Connections were advised that it will now be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

ROCKNROLL MAMA NZ– Stewards queried driver J Gallagher in relation to the tactics adopted. Driver J Gallagher explained that it was the intention to attempt for the lead in the event however was unsuccessful in doing so and when caught racing outside of the leader looked to maintain the tempo in the event as he felt this was his runner’s best chance. Given the early work in the event was left somewhat wanting over the concluding stages however was not overly disappointed in the performance. Stewards noted his comments.

RUM DELIGHTNZ – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

 

RACE 9 – NATIONAL TROTGUIDE PACE – 2030 metres

HUEY LEWIS NZ– Was held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

ITS ALLABOUT ALICE– Pre race sample was taken. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

COURT ON THE EDGE NZ– Had a tendency to over race whilst leading the event in the early and middle stages. Stewards queried driver L Green in relation to the performance. Driver L Green explained that his runner had a tendency to over race and given it was first up over the 2030 metres was left somewhat vulnerable over the concluding stages however was not overly disappointed in the performance and would expect improvement moving forward. Stewards noted his comments.
