Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
All engaged drivers at today’s meeting were subjected to rapid antigen tests being supervised by the Stewards prior to fulfilling their drives.
The sprint lane was in operation at tonight’s meeting.
Due to Health & Safety protocols the following driver changes were approved:
Race 1 - HILO TYSON – J. Young, Race 2 – MAGICAL MYSTY (K. Harper), Race 3 – SLEEK AND SWEET – J. Young, Race 3 – STARS OF GOLD (M. Miller), Race 5 – ARDENS WINSTAR NZ – C. Voak, Race 7 – GIRLFROMDANDALUP – M. Miller, Race 8 – BOLD JACKIE – M. Miller, Race 8 – IRES ALLEN – T. Wheeler
RACE 1 – KUNINE CHAFF DIV.2 PACE (2190MS)
The field were turned away from the barrier as THE MONIES ON (C. Peterson) required a gear adjustment as the lugging pole had snapped. The gelding raced without the pole.
THE MONIES ON (C. Peterson) – Over-raced entering the back straight to complete a lap and broke gait, was retired from the race. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial, as a result of this incident HILO TYSON (J. Young) was checked and obliged to race wide thereafter.
RACE 2 – THOMPSON & REDWOOD FILLIES & MARES PACE (2190MS)
WALL STREET GIRL (J. Young) – Hung in under pressure in the run to the finish and had to be corrected by its driver and lost momentum to be beaten by a head and 1.4m.
GALACTIC LIONESS (R. Donnell) – After racing in a favourable trailing position, commenced to give ground with 600m to run. Trainer R. Donnell stated that the mare would be spelled immediately.
SHEHADI (E. Suvaljko) – Utilised the sprint lane to win the race.
RACE 3 – NORTHAM FEED AND HIRE 4YO+ PACE (1780MS)
SLEEK AND SWEET (J. Young) – Driver J. Young reported that the cord on the hopple shorteners broke and consequently the pins remained in for the entire race.
RACE 4 – MANDIE TITCHENER PACE (2190MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 5 – LANCE TITCHNER 4YO+ PACE (2190MS)
ARDENS WINSTAR NZ (C. Voak) – Underwent a Veterinary examination after completing its preliminary and passed fit to race.
FARAWAYEYES (E. Suvaljko) – The pull-down blinkers failed to activate.
RACE 6 – STEPHEN HARRIS PACE (2560SS)
TUX AND TAILS (K. Symington) – Commenced poorly. A warning was issued.
BREWERY LANE (K. Harper) – Commenced poorly. A warning was issued.
BATAVIA BLACKHOLE (H. Hancock) – When racing between TUX AND TAILS (K. Symington) and HOW GOUDA SHE (T. Wheeler) approaching the front straight on the final occasion, engaged sulky shafts with HOW GOUDA SHE and momentarily paced roughly when in restricted room.
ARK OF ROCK (E. Suvaljko) - The near-side hopple shortening pin released prematurely shortly after the start and the mare became unbalanced and broke gait when the offside pin was released leaving the front straight. Stewards took no action under the circumstances.
RACE 7 – CHRISTINE WORRALL DIV.1 PACE (2190MS)
GIRLFROMDANDALUP (M. Miller) – Reinsperson M. Miller was reprimanded under R163(1)(c)(ii) for contacting and dislodging the sprint marker peg when entering the sprint lane in the run to the finish of the race.
RACE 8 – JUSTIN MARTIN 3YO WESTBRED PACE (2190MS)
IM ROCKIN ROD (K. Harper) – Broke gait shortly after the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
BATAVIA BOB (C. Playle) – Broke gait shortly after the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
MISS SUZI QUE (J. Young) – When questioned reinsperson J. Young stated that initially she felt that STEPPING WOLF (D. Egerton-Green) may have taken a trail, therefore in the early stages she applied some pressure to lead, thereafter her drive raced keenly. Further the filly returned with a slight laceration to its tongue and in her opinion was locking its jaw.
