Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – TALK TO A MATE 3YO FILLIES PACE (2242MS)
MUMMAS LITTLE STAR (T. Wheeler) – Contacted a marker peg racing into the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 2 – WORKING WITH WARRIORS PACE (1823MS)
AMERICAN ROCK (E. Harris) – Over-raced in the early to middle stages of the event.
RACE 3 – THE REGIONAL MENS HEALTH INITIATIVE PACE (2242MS)
QUICK MAMBA (M. Young) – Driver M. Young was shown the vision of when she has shifted out entering the front straight on the final occasion. Ms Young reported that she had eased TOMMY KRUZE NZ (A. De Campo) wider on the track prior to exiting the bend, however with a runner to his outside SWANBOURNE SPUNK (S. Butterworth) TOMMY KRUZE had been tightened and Driver A. De Campo was forced to steady his drive.
RACE 4 – FAST TRACK PIT STOP PACE (1823MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 5 – MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING MATTERS PACE (2662MS)
HENWOOD BAY (K. Harper) – Driver K. Harper was reprimanded under the provisions of R156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion. In issuing a reprimand Stewards took into consideration Mr Harper had over 240 drives since his last reprimand.
BURGHLEY SHARD NZ (C. Peterson) – Over-raced in the early to middle stages of the event.
BENJI NZ (M. Young) – Driver M. Young was questioned in regards to the performance of the mare, Ms Young put forward that it had been a month between runs and possibly not suited to the 2662 metres with such a gap between runs. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 6 – STAY CONNECTED PACE (2636SS)
HARD TO FORGET (E. Johnson) – Gave ground from the 500m, consequently THEWIZARD (T. Bryant) was inconvenienced.
MISSION GLORY (E. Suvaljko) – Galloped out. A warning was issued against the geldings starting manners.
SIPPINONJACK NZ (S. Butterworth) – Raced roughly after the start.
BREWERY LANE (K. Harper) – Galloped out. Will remain outside the draw in future standing start events.
RACE 7 – GET THE BALANCE RIGHT PACE (2242MS)
HEART OF THE ARTS (C. Peterson) – Over-raced in the early to middle stages. Retired from the event with a lap to travel. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had choked down , and will be stood down for six days and one re-qualifying trial.
