RACE 10 – CATANACHS JEWELLERS PACE (1720 MS)
A false start was declared at the first attempt when Arma Veyron (Barrier 1) broke gait during the latter stages of the score up, hampering the trailing Jasperine. Arma Veyron will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
At the second attempt whilst the score up had commenced, Jasperine (Barrier 8) broke gait, and a further false start was ordered when its driver George Schembri alerted the starter of an issue. At a subsequent inquiry Mr. Schembri explained that given his mares recent history when galloping he was concerned that it may cause a further issue and alerted the starter of this fact. Given the circumstances and noting that in the opinion of Stewards there was no evidence of any danger associated to Jasperine galloping, Mr. Schembri was fined $200 under Rule 162(1)(d) for delaying the start.
On the third attempt of the start, Arma Veyron paced roughly shortly after the start.
