Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – DNR LOGISTICS TROT (2240 MS)

Builder Bob (Chris Svanosio) was out of position when the start was effected. Builder Bob will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

Cheermeonimdancin (Jason Ainsworth) broke gait shortly after the start was effected. Cheermeonimdancin will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Hammers Pegasus (Glenn Conroy) raced roughly approaching the 400m

RACE 2 CGI TROT (1ST HEAT) (2240 MS)

Hattie (Michelle Phillips) was fractious during the early stages of the score up.

Wilcannia (Clinton Welsh) was out of position when the start was effected. Wilcannia will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

Wilcannia broke gait clear of interference approaching the 2000m. Wilcannia will now be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Krakuer (Lance Justice) shifted outwards abruptly inside the final 70m and locked wheels with Aldebaran Gwen (Glenn Conroy) prior to the finish line. A warning was issued against the racing manners Krakuer.

Greg Sugars, driver of Paris Faith ($3.00 fav) which finished in 7th position beaten 46.1m after racing outside the leader from the 1500m was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the mare. Mr Sugars could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Paris Faith revealed grade 1 EIPH however no other any significant findings.

Lance Justice, driver of Krakuer was fined the sum of $100 under AHR Rule 156(3) in that inside the final 200m he applied the whip to the gelding on more occasion than is permitted.

Ken Tippet, driver of Right of Reply pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) The particulars of the charge being that approaching the 200m whilst leading Mr Tippet when activating removeable ear plugs upon the gelding he contributed to allowing the gelding to shift up the track into the racing line of Krakuer which was improving to his outside wheel causing that runner to be checked and race roughly momentarily. In assessing penalty Stewards considered the relevant considerations as outlined within the HRV Stewards Minimum Penalty Guidelines placing particular weight on Mr Tippet’s guilty plea the degree of interference and carelessness which was assessed low range his driving frequency and his most recent offence under this rule (September 2021 & 180 drives) and the racing manners of the Right Of Reply. Stewards accordingly imposed a 7 day suspension of Mr Tippet’s licence to drive in races commencing midnight 24th November 2022.

RACE 3 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2ND HEAT) (2240 MS)

Clinton Welsh, driver of Roll With Rosco was issued a caution for failing to maintain his position until the start was effected.

Dicko Dixon (Bob Kuchenmeister) began badly as the start was effected. Dicko Dixon will continue to be barrier draw wide in future mobile start events.

Roll With Rosco broke gait clear of interference approaching the 300m.

From The West (Jason Ainsworth) was held up approaching the 200m prior to obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.

RACE 4 –DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY 3YO PACE (1720 MS)

Lavender Dolly (Greg Sugars) bucked & broke gait during the early stages of the score up. Lavender Dolly will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

Road To Reign (Michael Bellman) yielded ground from the 600m to finish in 7th and last position beaten 90.2m. Road To Reign will now be placed on its last chance to competitively.

Khans Creed (Julian Attard) hung inwards around the final turn and contacted marker pegs.     

RACE 5 -SOMERSET FARMS TROT (2240 MS)

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 6 – BERALDO COFFEE TROT (3RD HEAT) (2240 MS)

Rioterra (David Murphy) began badly as the start was effected inconveniencing Alleyes & Jahbella (Greg Sugars). Rioterra will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Alleyes (Scott Ewen) broke gait clear of interference approaching the 600m. A warning was issued against the mare’s racing manners.

Im Miss Royalty (Ian White) hung inwards around the final turn contacting and dislodged marker pegs.

Algorithm (Jason Ainsworth) yielded ground from the 400m to finish in 8th position beaten 51.2m. A warning was issued against the geldings racing competitiveness.

RACE 7 – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS PACE (2240 MS)

The start of this event was delayed two (2) minutes due to Race 2 at Cairns Thoroughbreds being behind their scheduled starting time.

Stewards refrained taking action against James Herbertson, driver of Smiling Shandy for contacting the wheel of Zaras All Good approaching the 300m as that runner gave ground.

Jodi Quinlan, driver of Zaras All Good ($4.80) which finished 7th position beaten 29.5m after leading was queried into the overall performance of the mare. Ms Quinlan contributed the performance to the mare pulling hard during the event and possibly partially choking down. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Zaras All Good failed to reveal any significant findings.

Sergio Lenardi, trainer/driver of Trembita ($26.00) which finished in 8th and last position beaten 37.4m after racing outside the leader for majority of the event was queried into the overall performance of the mare. Mr Lenardi advised the mare over raced during the event which he felt was the main contributing factor to the mares disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Trembita failed to reveal any significant findings.

RACE 8 – CATANACHS JEWELLERS PACE (1720 MS)

Morvah (James Herbertson) was held up approaching the 200m prior obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.

Our Bella Lucia (Jackie Barker) failed to gain clear running for the entire length of the home straight.

Justin Campbell, trainer/driver of Really Campbell ($11.00) which finished in 9th and last position beaten 36.9m was queried into the tactics adopted upon the gelding and if he gave consideration to surrendering the position outside the leader sooner than obtaining a trail at the 750m. Mr Campbell advised in his pre assessment he felt there was a lack of speed draw underneath the gelding today he felt it was his best option to obtain a more forward position instead to restraining after the start however did not expect the gelding having to endue more work than expected when multiple runner progressed forward after the start. Mr Campbell added he was hesitated to surrender the position outside the leader when obtaining it at the 1100m & when challenged by Hameldaeme (Clinton Welsh) soon afterwards he was aware that runner had endured a significant amount of work from the start and felt it would not be a suitable runner to follow after racing three (3) wide from the start with the continued pressure applied from that runner he felt it would be his best option to surrender the position passing the 750m. Mr Campbell expressed disappointment in the gelding performance thereafter & added Really Campbell would derive benefit from the performance. After viewing the available replays stewards noted the comments of Mr Campbell however felt he erred in his judgement in attempting to maintain the position outside the leader after enduring significant work himself during the early stages of the event and was issued a caution for this lack of judgement during this section of the event.

RACE 9 – LOGICAL SOLUTION PACE (2240 MS)

River Patrol NZ underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the geldings having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Calculating Dancer (Chris Romanidis) broke gait during the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued against the gelding barrier manners.

Bulldog Macray (Shannon O’Sullivan) hung inwards entering the first turn and contacted marker pegs.

Chris Romanidis, driver of Calculating Dancer was issued a caution for tightening the racing room of Major Comment approaching the 1800m when directing to a marker line position.

Bulldog Macray hung inwards around the final turn a warning was issued against the gelding racing manners.

RACE 10 – DYNAMIC PRINT MAIDEN PACE (1720 MS)

Arts Classic underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having not started in the preceding 12 months. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Steve Austen, driver of Sparkling Sue was issued a caution for failing to maintain his position until the start was effected.

Lazio Lass (Darby McGuigan) hung outwards and broke gait shortly after the start was effected. Lazio Lass will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Sweeter Than Sugar (Conor Crook) broke gait approaching the 1200m checking Lazio Lass which was trialling. Sweeter Than Sugar will now be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Lazio Lass raced extremely roughly at various stages of the event. Due to the manner in which the mare raced roughly Lazio Lass will now be placed on its last chance to race truly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Lazio Lass tired to finish in 10th and last position beaten 73m. A warning was issued against the mare’s racing competitiveness.

RACE 11 – ALLIED EXPRESS 3YO VICBRED MAIDEN TROT (2240 MS)

Brent Lilley, trainer of Posh Kyvalley & Tubs Now Slim was issued a caution for late declarations of drives upon both runners.

Nakedtruth underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the colt having surgery to remove OCD in both hind limbs. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

A false start was declared at the first attempt when Wills Mavrick (James Herbertson) & Frankythefrenchman (Matthew Gath) both broke gait during the score up checking runners on the second row. Wills Mavrick & Frankythefrenchman will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Frankythefrenchman broke gait again during the score up at the second attempt and was out of position when the start was effected.

Acool Investment (John Caldow) was out of position when the start was effected at the second attempt. Due to the false start no action was taken against the filly.

Allan Lousada, driver of Blanco Canyon was issued a caution for failing to maintain his starting position prior to the start being effected and the second attempt.

Emmett Brosnan, driver of No Surprises was issued a caution for shifting ground approaching the 1800m which inconvenienced Sir Ed (Jason Lee) which was improving forward three (3) wide.

Daisy Bouchea (Jason Ainsworth) broke gait clear of interference approaching the 1300m.

Posh Kyvalley broke gait clear of interference approaching the 500m. Posh Kyvalley will now be placed on it last chance to race truly.

Wills Mavrick yielded ground from the 400m to finished in 10th position beaten 78.3m. Wills Mavrick will now be placed on its last chance to competitively.

Shes My Pride (Michael Bellman) yielded ground rapidly from the 900m which inconvenienced and took Blanco Canyon back through the field. Prior to finishing in 11th and last position beaten 228.1m. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of failed to reveal any significant findings. Shes My Pride will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion.
