Modern Bliss underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having competed in Ballarat the night prior. Neither examination revealed any significant findings.

Chris Lang, driver of Soextra, was cautioned for shifting ground in that passing the 200m he permitted Soextra to shift out resulting in Lochinvar Jag being momentarily inconvenienced.

Nathan Jack, driver of Lochinvar Jag ($4.80), was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding which finished in 7th placing beaten 10m. The all clear of this event was delayed to allow Stewards the opportunity to review the available replays in relation to Khaki Nui NZ racing roughly under pressure approaching the finish and breaking shortly after. Upon review Stewards were satisfied Khaki Nui NZ had remained in the correct gait until the completion of the event and the all clear was given.

Scott Ewen, trainer/driver of Bulletproof Boy, advised the gelding had cast a near hind shoe during the event.

RACE 8 – I DIDNT DO IT TROTTERS FREE FOR ALL (GROUP 3) (2240 MS)

A false start was declared on the first occasion when Aldebaran Crescent had broken gait resulting in Nephew Of Sonoko, which was drawn behind, having no runner position ahead of it and as a result of Nephew Of Sonoko pulling hard, it improved on the front row and a false start was declared. In view of the circumstances a warning was placed on the record of Nephew Of Sonoko.

A false start was declared on the second occasion when Aleppo Murphy broke just prior to the start checking Nephew Of Sonoko. Aleppo Murphy will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

A warning was placed on the record of Wobelee for being fractious prior to the first attempt.

Aleppo Murphy trotted roughly passing the 1600m.

Aleppo Murphy pulled hard during the middle stages.

Wobelee pulled hard during the middle stages.

Josh Aiken, driver of Aldebaran Crescent ($8.50), explained the mare became very fractious after the two false starts which ultimately told on Aldebaran Crescent. Post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Aldebaran Crescent failed to reveal any significant findings.

Chris Alford, driver of Wobelee, explained Wobelee became very fractious after the two false starts and over-raced significantly during the run which told on Wobelee over the concluding stages. Post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Wobelee failed to reveal any significant findings.

Brad Angove, driver of Sundons Courage, pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) in that passing the 900m he permitted Sundons Courage to shift out when not clear of Nephew Of Sonoko resulting in Nephew Of Sonoko being inconvenienced, forced wide and obliged to cover more ground than necessary. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the relevant considerations as outlined within the HRV Stewards Minimum Penalty Guidelines placing particular weight on Mr Angove’s guilty plea and the circumstances of the incident. Stewards accordingly imposed a 10 day suspension of his licence to drive in races which was ordered to commence midnight 28 May 2022.

Post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Power Up NZ revealed the gelding to be displaying a delayed post-race recovery. Power Up NZ will now be placed on its last chance to race competitively.
